    Smile Smart Alec bag fix

I have been using a Smart Alec bag for many years, I believe it is the second generation, with the hook loops on the front only. I used this bag for commuting to work and carried a Sigg water bottle in the side compartment. Recently, I looked at the bottom of the side compartment and there is a small rip. This was definitely caused by the water bottle. I was wondering if there is anything anyone recommends for fixing this rip. I am considering SeamGrip or the Tenacious repair tape.

Love the bag, I am now reconfiguring it as EDC with emergency equipment for both car and home. Recently ordered the lower modular pocket... fantastic!

    Thanks!

Welcome to the Forums, tom9black! That is a totally classic Smart Alec -- nice.

You could use either of those products for a field repair. Or, we could fix/patch your bag for a reasonable fee (emailus@tombihn.com to arrange that). Note that if you do use either of the repair tapes, it might not be possible for us to repair your bag -- the adhesives from those products can wreak havoc on sewing machines.
Current Carry: Skookum Dog Citizen Canine, Founder's Briefcase, Synapse 19 (day hikes), Guide's Pack (longer day hikes), Yeoman Duffel (winter/emergency stuff for the car), Aeronaut 30 (travel), Night Flight Travel Duffel (camera bag), Moveable Feast + Shop Bags (food)
