I'm out at the local Starbucks (near the Giant Amoco Sign (http://www.amocohipointeautoserviceandwash.com)) with my Maker's Bag with the following:

Front zip pocket (under flap): 6 pens, hand sanitizer, earbuds in case clipped to o-ring
Main compartment pockets: 4x Field Notes, Hobonichi Techo (A6), sunglasses case, 27 oz. Klean Kanteen
Main compartment: 11" MacBook Air in horizontal Cache, a box of NexGard to keep my corgi from becoming a succulent tick snack, a hoody
Main compartment rear zippered pocket: A4-sized Rhodia Ice notepad, B6-sized Life notebook, several sheets of paper

I'm using the Standard shoulder strap. And apparently, I have a paper problem.

I find the makers bag to be the most flexible I own for how it's organised due to its big open space.

I always use a Freudian Slip but not always the MB sized one. Usually the small or medium cafe bag sized one to ensure there is space to have a water bottle in the end elastic sleeve. I also carry a 13inch MAcBook pro retina in a horizontal caches which fits nicely even without rails.

Sometimes a side effect of bits vertically placed in there; sometimes small 3DOCs thrown in. It's an easy dumping ground in there and the large number of pockets do most of the organising anyway.
