Last Friday I found a fun surprise waiting in my email box: An invitation to test a new Tom Bihn product.

Darcy and I exchanged emails and on my lunch break I tossed a variety of items into a couple of Tom Bihn bags and drove down to the shop. I felt a little odd walking in and saying “Hi, I’m Saltgirl” but Mike handed me the product and I promptly dumped out my bags across the large wooden table.

I tried some of my things for home, for work and for travel. I brought my son’s greatest treasures and my favorite hobby. I packed, I played and I photographed. And I have to say, I think there is going to be a little something for everyone.

I think they are releasing it later this month. So stay tuned - I plan to post more pictures.

Here is a sneak peek:

Yup! Thanks to Saltgirl, there's a last minute addition to the list of bags that will debut on November 28th. It was designed and made in just two weeks!

Eeee! Really excited :) Are there going to be any other hints (maybe not the full HJ treasure hunt, though that was fun :) ) before the launch?

It's so cool to hear about the process of an idea and a pile of fabric becoming a useful, sharp-looking bag. Can't wait for the next debut :)

Well, crap, I have an order arriving in a couple of days. Should I have waited?

Or do I just buy all the bags? (Yeah, I know the answer to that one.)

So, wild speculation here: The label is sewn to the fabric on the bias, and it looks like a 200 Halcyon interior fabric color. So I'm guessing that's a travel tray in northwest sky, but I see Island as an option on the TT page.

and my favorite hobby.

Hmm, don't know if its your FAVORITE hobby, but I do see you have an account over on Ravelry, so I'm going to assume that the hobby in question is knitting. Maybe a new accessory that will hold works in progress?

Weaving! Please let it be weaving.

I can think of a couple of ways to use it for weaving. And knitting. And possibly even travelling with your dog, in a pinch.

I'd take it hiking for the day or on a week long business trip.

My son would use it when accompanying me to knit night where he sets up in the corner and plays MineCraft. He'd also use it when playing Pokemon (but not Pokemon Go) or Boss Monster.

Everyone I know will be getting one for Christmas filled with my handmade bath products.

My cat, however, has no use for it.

Which TB bag does it look more like, or is it a brand new design?

Perfect for holding a cake of Frabjuous Fibers Mad Hatter in Too Much Pepper. I could see placing multiple center pull cakes in multiple small travel trays at the bottom of my Swift and knitting a multi color project without tangling or barfing* all over the bag.

The small travel tray also holds all my tools and even my knit picks interchangeables. I'd still put stitch markers in a separate container - they'd come out the top hole otherwise.

Minimalist makeup bag. Perfect for my one night business trips or my niece's high school locker.

It holds everything I need for a day in the office - where I never know from day to day where I will be sitting.

My son is excited to have someplace to keep his bedside treasures. No more climbing off the top bunk to hunt for his wayward flashlight on the floor before trekking to the bathroom at 2 am. And that is a leather cover on a molskine notebook. It is a tight fit when closed, but doable.

It will fit a small project with short needles. Here I have some knit picks interchangeables and a roll of Dishie yarn. I'd recommend putting the needles in a cover to prevent punctures though.

Shh. Don't tell my friends and family. For Christmas they are all getting my handmade soap, scrub, lotion, and a knit wash cloth served up in some fabulous reusable packaging.

And the best part of all? No more legos loose in the bottom of my bag when my son wants to take toys to a friend's house, traveling or out to dinner.

I love the Lego photo. My #1 idea for the new size was that it might fit inside another bag and corral little toys.

I ordered small travel trays for Christmas gifts but after seeing salt girls post I'm hinking I might not be able to let them go.
