View Full Version : Folder Advice

Hello, All! I alternate between the Swift and the Maker's Bag as my EDC. I often carry papers (8.5" x 11"), and I am trying to find a light-weight way to protect them from bending, folding, crumpling, etc. A manilla folder is too flimsy, and I don't want to add a lot of weight or space. Any options you use or recommend?

I carry a large halcyon organizer pouch. Manila folders and loose paper hold up nicely in a makers bag.

Maybe something like this? https://www.containerstore.com/s/clear-envelopes/d?productId=10027122&q=envelope

I have the smaller sized one for travel docs (and it holds letter sized paper folded in half), but the larger one would clearly hold full-sized, unfolded paper, or even the paper inside a manilla folder.

I use one of these Pack-It? Sac Large - Spill-Proof Sacs | Official Eagle Creek Website (http://shop.eaglecreek.com/packit-sac-large/d/1099)

I know you wanted something sturdier than a manila folder, but I put a manila folder in the packit. It helps keep its shape. The packit is water resistant, and it has a clip so you can clip it on an o-ring. It has a gusseted bottom so it can get bigger or smaller depending on what you are carrying.

I wanted a large organizer pouch, but it was over budget for me.

I use these. They also have the advantage of being clear, so I can see what is inside without opening them.

Just as Fulton pointed out, Halcyon Large Pouches are ideal for this, if you need to see the content Clear Pouches are great.

You can also customize the weight/stiffness/array of colors factors by using Cordura and/or Ballistic Large Pouches.

Ballistic Pouches are so classy, they can easily double as mini briefcase/envelopes.

If you think that the pouches are a bit too floppy, you can always stiffen them by using a stiff file folder cut to size to fit the back of the pouch.
