Happy Canada Day!

Many decades ago, IBM was the big mainframe company. When you shut down the mainframe for the day, the last thing the operating system did was print out an American flag while the impact of the printer played the Star Spangled Banner.

A company in Canada wrote to IBM and said they had found an error in the operating system, but they had gone into the assembly code and fixed it. They sent IBM a tape to load so they could test it out. IBM loaded the new operating system off the tape and everything worked perfectly after many tests. So, they shut the machine down. It printed a Canadian flag and the impact printer played Oh Canada.

True story.

Thanks for sharing @KmK
Interesting story @BWeaves - Being from IT, I got a good laugh out of it.

Cheers!

I've been in IT for 40 years. That story goes back to my early days programming on punch cards.
