Hi People,

I'm looking for the exact same double carabiners attached in the picture. I don't know the name of it. Would be happy if anyone can point me to it. Seems like TB is not selling it anymore :) 18657 Thanks!

They used to be available via the drop down menu on this page, https://www.tombihn.com/products/parts?variant=17695782151 but they don't seem to be there anymore. Maybe they're out of stock? I'd email customer service and ask.

When TB stopped selling the black ones, I found some on eBay in several sizes in black from a 3rd party.

I remember they somewhere wrote the name and gave a link so we can buy it separately. But unfortunately I can't find it nowhere.

Hi All,

Just so you know, at present, there are still Double Carabiners supplied when you order Knitting Tool Pouches (https://www.tombihn.com/products/knitting-acc-pouch), even though they are no longer selling these separately under Parts. (Only one clip in Wasabi per your Knitting Tool Pouch order, while their stock holds out). When I asked Customer Support after noticing these had gone out of stock last month, they said there were no plans to restock.

As for sizes, if you order from Tyny Tools (or Amazon, or eBay, etc.), you want to get "Medium". Here's one of my recent posts about color and size:

Hi @rafoster,

The original Double Carabiners were in Black. They shifted to green (8-02-2015) when the original source for these ran out. But you can buy these in Black, Orange, or Green made by Tyny Tools. Here's their web site (https://tynytools.com), but they're also carried elsewhere.

The size that you want is Medium.

You can also try searching with terms like "swivel carabiner", etc.

Just ordered the Medium Swivel Clip in black.

They were $4.00 for a pack of two.

These appear to be sold out on the tnytools site as well as amazon, ebay, and a few other places i looked. i ended up buying 2 #2 s-biners and just used them to clip my SE to the airplane seat - they worked well for that. these might be a good option for anyone else looking for the hard-to-find swivel biners. sold on amazon but REI was cheaper - https://www.rei.com/product/131688/nite-ize-s-biner-dual-2-aluminum-carabiner

In addition to Amazon check your local hardware stores. My local Ace hardware store stocks them.

Have they stopped being available with the purchase of a Knitting Tool Pouch since the end of December? See my post:

Hi @pammy,

OK, here's what I know. I've been in touch with the support staff before, to alert them when the alternative sources of the Double Carabiner Clips were drying up -- this includes directly from Tyny Tools and also on sources like Amazon and eBay. That's been since Spring 2017. They're actually not allowed to sell the ones they still have. I don't know why Tyny Tools never restocked these, but I believe they have held the rights to the design for some time. You may be able to find this product on Ali Baba or some of the sites that will make knock-off products.

My guess is that someone might have added them back into parts, not realizing that they are not supposed to sell them. They do, sometimes discover a few items. Sometimes things get stored in the wrong location (e.g., when they have sometimes sold special pouches with different fabrics or trims that are not supposed to be used for general sales). Or, I was surprised to read Darcy's comments recently about the old "Cheater D-rings" being available, since I immediately fired off an example of one of the posted inquiries about their availability that I'd read in the last three to four years.

So, that's just my guess. They do still have some double carabiners, I was told they're not supposed to sell them, but they've put them in with the Knitting Tool Pouches as long as they last. And you can't buy two Knitting Tool Pouches in the same order and expect to get two Double Carabiners -- the deal is that however many you buy in a single order, they'll try to include a Double Carabiner Clip as long as they are available.

Just my thoughts. YMMV

I just ordered something on amazon that looks very similar to the original double carabiners, since I wasn't able to find them also.

They're still a day away, so I haven't actually seen them in person yet, but here's the link.

I use them (and Moriond posted a picture at one point) to hang my Side Effect (or any similar bag/pouch) from the back of an airline seat pouch so that it is handily accessible.

Here’s one quoted post:

The original version of this Hack for turning a Side Effect into an airline seat pocket bag (https://forums.tombihn.com/photos-videos-and-reviews/6614-side-effect-s-biners-seat-pocket-bag.html) used Nite-Ize S-biners, but a better solution is to use Double Carabiner Clips, both because the top and bottom halves of the clips can rotate to attach at the optimal position, and also because the large loop design of these clips can also hook into the thicker triangular attachment points of the Packing Cube Shoulder Bag, where you would normally clip on a shoulder strap.

The Double Carabiner Clips rotate to easily hold the Side Effect in place during the flight:

For the movie demo (with the Side Effect), see Forum Bag Hacks Part I video (https://vimeo.com/160672777) and start watching at about 1:30 into the sequence. You need a pair of double carabiner clips (https://www.tombihn.com/collections/accessories/products/parts?variant=16645157063).

It's possible to use this with the Packing Cube Shoulder Bag, but be aware that the longer length and the unreinforced nature of the PCSB means that it can sag if you try to load it up with heavy items. It works better if you have access to 400d Halcyon versions of the PCSB (a limited production run in Spring 2014 when the supply of 200d Dyneema ran out let forum users order the PCSB in the heavier weight 400d Original Nordic and Original Black Halcyon). An alternative way to stiffen the PCSB is to get a medium size Double Organizer Pouch (https://www.tombihn.com/collections/accessories/products/double-organizer-pouch?variant=16620958599) and insert it into the diagonal zippered pocket.

You can read more general comments in the What's the best way to do this? (https://forums.tombihn.com/questions-about-bags/8334-whats-best-way-do.html) thread. Some people use the 5/8" shoulder strap of the Side Effect to secure it around the drop down tray.

There are also numerous other examples of using these clips for Bag hacking: like turning the Travel Tray into yarn bowl by attaching one end of the clip near the drawstring and having the other serve as a yarn guide on top of the closed Travel Tray. Or there are many instances where you can attach an accessory pouch outside another bag or pouch — @tpnl had lots of examples of this:

You don't really need the swivel carabiner for those sorts of uses. A regular non-swivel nite-ize s-binner works great.

I had a couple sitting next to me say just last week on the plane that they wanted them now. They saw my side kick hanging and were very jealous of it and the double swivel carabiners.

Perfectly for what I want, which is to connect the side effect to the molle straps on the inside of my GR1. I'll also use them for the airplane seat pocket hack.

I’m so happy to hear that I would have used them the same way. I have a stockpile of the old ones TB used to sell but I live in fear that I’ll break them. I’ll keep this in mind as a backup.
