Some of the stuff that I just got in the mail-- indigo/solar S19, crimson/steel SCB, punch/steel SCB, cork pouches. (One isn't pictured.) Thanks to mostly forum members, some of whom were very very kind. (Colors are true to life when viewed on an iPhone and my laptop)

I recently scored an olive/cayenne (I think) Ristretto for my husband for something crazy like $50 on ebay! It fits his MacBook perfectly, but he mainly uses it for his iPad and a couple of notebooks when he goes to meetings. I snapped this picture of it lounging at our local coffee shop while he was getting us a couple of beers. He came back while I was still taking pictures and just rolled his eyes. He doesn't even ask anymore.

ETA: Oh, and it even came with an Absolute Strap. I am so stealing that for my A30 on our next trip!

Since I still had my black Synapse 19 handy (up for sale, though!) here is a quick comparison of Black, Steel, and Grey - the Steel looks very green-toned next to the Grey, at least in this light.

Also, a close-up of the replacement zipper pulls on my Grey S19, I had a little bit of fun with purple paracord:

I knew that was coming, I should have just linked in the original. LOL Like almost everything else in life, I found it at Amazon: Purple ParaCord (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HQIV8TG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). This one is the "Home Town Hero" color, and I got the 10ft version. I also picked up a few other colors which will be going on my WF and A30 soon.

I didn't remove the inner cord, I just sort of squished the cord into the pull tab. I also didn't melt the ends, because I did this at the office and didn't think it was a good idea to be playing with open flame there. If you were to take them apart, my cord pulls don't look nearly as neat as the ones in Janine's video, but they work and they look nice from the outside so I'm happy with them. I also made them a tiny bit longer than the originals to get a little more purple effect.

Thanks I'll try it again when I get home this time I won't melt the ends and see if that helps make them fit.

TB YSS SOLAR kitten burrito.

The structure of this bag makes it even easier to carry him around after he feeds and it holds the burrito edges closed. Even though the burrito is not entirely in the bag it still feels like he's on a plate or something more solid than just a bag or his fabric burrito. He's more secure for carrying. Win!

He's 11.5 oz, a bit larger than my hand and very very wiggly when awake.

It's double love! I took my son to tour the campus of Florida State University yesterday. We both carried our Cafe Bags (his is large, mine is medium). Wouldn't you know it, we both have and love the same colorway, cocoa/olive! Anyway, the day was quite rainy yesterday, but everything stayed nicely organized and dry as we walked around the university. Needless to say, he was very impressed, and it's going on his list to consider!

What bag will he be using for Uni? ^.^

Mausermama
10-04-2014, 05:45 AM
He will use either his LCB or his Brain Bag. He's officially put a request for a Synapse for Christmas. He's waffling between the 19, which is what I have, or the 25. He likes the compactness of my smaller bag, but he has a fairly large frame for all his skinniness. He's 6'2". It would be easier to know which bag would be best if I had a 25 lying around, but alas, that is one of the few that I don't have!

dorayme
10-04-2014, 06:07 AM
Because of his height, my recommendation would be for the S25. It will still feel more compact that the BB and if it's only partially full, it will still look nice. An added benefit is it will easily hold either a notebook or notebook computer, even they are oversized, where the S19 starts to run into problems if the contents are squared off and thick or the top is similar height to the bag due to the rounded upper profile. Lastly, remember you can order the S25 and if he decides it's too big, return it and then order the S19.

Guys (& Ladies),
Just wish to share my somewhat brief and personal review of my Tom Bihn's Products (below) with my recent trip to Taiwan for 7D6N.

No check-in luggage, carry-on only with Airasia (International) and Malaysia Airlines (Domestic/Interstate).

• My wife carried Defy Bucktown Backpack, weight about 6kg. Inside stored two Travel Tray, a Packing Cube, Quartz Bag and a Packable Duffel.
• I carried A45, slightly overweight 8.5kg (Airasia requirement is 7kg) and Pilot. A45 hold our Large Packing Cube, Snake Chamber, Large Yarn Stuff Sack (Jackets). I also carry Upper Module Pocket and the Pilot.

8642
Left: My Navy/Solar A45 Backpacking and Steel Dyneema Pilot at Terminal 2, Taoyuan International Airport, Taiwan; Arrival
Right: My Navy/Solar A45 and Defy Bucktown Backpack at Song Syue Lodge, Hehuanshan, Central Taiwan.

We brought 16 shirts, 8 pants & dress, 12 stockings, 15 undies, 1 medium-layer jacket, 1 zipper hoodie and 1 fleece.
I managed to compress the Jacket, Hoodie and Fleece, all into my Tall Yarn Stuck Sack which is stored just-right on one of A45's Side Pocket.
While remaining fitted inside the Backpack and A45.
*Sorry, I forget to snap photo on this part.

While on the Pilot, I'm not sure that I like it so much than I initially think so. Because
1- It looks bigger on me. I hoping Co-Pilot wouldn't be too small either :P
1- It is floppy due to the Dyneema material.
2- It is unusual expandable. Sometimes, this could be good and bad. The good is it could hold a lot. The bad is I tends to stuff more and it would become heavier and awkward looking. Also, my shoulder would get tired easily.
But overall, I do really like its very organize feature - the Front, Main, Back, Bottle and its interior Pockets.

If my travel itinerary doesn't need a lot of walking, then I wouldn't mind bringing Pilot. Thus for this Trip, I only use the Pilot during the day of flight departure/return, Transit and/or most of the time in the car. Also, another main reason I find the Pilot very useful is it help maximize the Carry-On Limit so my A45 could be lighter to meet the 7kg Limit. Especially those Tablet, Charger, First Aid Kit, Quartz Bag do easily weight a lot, yet they have smaller dimension.

8641
Left: My usual content in my UMP. I'm not sure whether I posted this elsewhere before. Sorry, if I repost.
Middle: I wearing cross-body my Steel Dyneema UMP. Strap is 2 Key Strap jointed (1 Black, 1 UV Dyneema). It may looks big from the picture. This is due to my selfie's angle of shot.
Right: Nordic PCSB hooked onto the front seat tray, via a Double Carabiner from Tom Bihn. Inside my filled UMP, Passports, Bottle and other small items.

Shall my day itinerary has a lot of walking such as City Traveling, I just leave it at my Hotel and switch to Packing Cube Shoulder Bag. I don't use Tablet outdoor, so PCSB is just right for me + my wife's thingy. Plus, I will be carrying my usual UMP for my usual stuffs. More lightweight, just right sufficient space though we have to compromise on the Bottle Compartment of Pilot. Packable Shop Bag inside a PCSB will be more awesome (I have none. Still saving for 1 LSB) so you wouldn't need to carry multiple plastic bags from your shopping. Just threw everything in. They wouldn't be that easily to be accidentally forgotten during meal stopover or taxi ride.

Also, from this trip, I start to learn to love the Absolute Shoulder strap and very dislike the Standard Strap. The Pad of the Standard Strap love to displace itself, annoyingly.
Before, I only use the Absolute Strap in non-Cross-Body mode as the non-slippery material caught on my shirts and I wouldn't able to easily swing to front or back. Then from this trip, I learn that I could swing effortlessly by switching the side of the non-slippery material upside down. Hence, with the material on top rather than normally on the bottom where it face/rest on your shoulder, I could use the Strap as like any kind strap, plus the Absolute Strap is more kind to my shoulder with its springy feature.

This is our first carry-on-only trip and we had learned that we could go even lighter as there are still quite a number of apparels we did not use/wear.

NOTE: Both my Wife and I are averagely less than 5.7 feet and weight around 65kg. Shirt size are XS-S, depends on the Brand/Design. Shoes size are about US8.0. I'm noting, to give a rough understand as it could effect the number of apparel fitted.

It is indeed! I bought two sets this time (usually I just get one seasonal set), so I have my work filling them up cut out for me. FWIW, a couple of Field Notes fit into the back of a small DOP, and pens fit well in the front of it, making it the perfect little note taking tool folio.

I was really surprised that this SA existed. I had no idea that they were ever made in this colour way (it has a wasabi lining that I'm growing to like). I'm really fond of this bag because 1) the bag is discernibly lighter even with one Dyneema panel! 2) it's got just enough dyneema for my liking (a whole bag is a bit much for me).

Me & the Guide's Pack at Fairy Falls (https://flic.kr/p/pQFv2L) on Flickr

I've been following the recommended procedures to ease the Guide's Pack adoption into our family. For our first introduction, I took it hiking in its home state of Washington where it would be most comfortable. Now it was time to take it out to see a bit of my home state of Oregon, so I took a day off from work and we went into the Columbia River Gorge. We were having such a good time taking pictures that we didn't go as far up the trail as originally planned, so we decided to stop at Fairy Falls and then head back to the car. The Gorge has a variety of majestic waterfalls but this little one is one of my favorites, and the Guide's Pack agreed, so we took a moment to take it all in.

My little backpack is feeling quite at home in our family now, especially after I assured it that I would be ordering a Lead's Pocket to balance out its other side, it didn't say anything but I could tell it was self-conscious about it. An Aeronaut will get ordered too, to keep it company on trips, but I'm holding that back as a surprise.

Wow, it's been MONTHS since I've visited the Forum. Have missed everyone, but real life (aka work) got in the way. Can definitely report that all my TB bags have gotten quite a workout the past few months and have performed marvelously (no surprises there!). And my bank account had a chance to recover. Just in time for the holidays :)

Speaking of holidays... My aunt and I began our Thanksgiving morning this year with the 5K Run to Feed the Hungry. It's a really fun family event for a great cause...and helps make the feasting to follow a little less guilt-inducing. Here I am awaiting the start with my French Blue DLBP holding a jacket, water bottle, snacks and wallet. The people next to me only had boring turkey hats...

9252

With an estimated 30,000 participants, the starting pace was a bit slow... the better to showcase the lovely French Blue DLBP. It was so comfortable that I barely noticed the DLBP on my back. Although, next time, I'll do something about the dangling straps...

9253

But we did pick up the pace gradually... There were more walkers than runners and everyone seemed to have a great time. No snow in Northern California, but it was a lovely, sunny but crisp fall morning...

9254

My favorite shot, taken backwards while moving, so it's blurry but captures perfectly the spirit of the participants and of the event...

9255

And finally, here we are, my aunt and I, at the finish line! We both had health scares the last few years, so to participate in and complete this event together on Thanksgiving was especially meaningful for us.

9256

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday with your loved ones!

Gotta say, @taminca, that with that French Blue Daylight Backpack you really stand out from the crowd with distinction! There were some theories that you were locked away doing secret Tom Bihn product testing, but my guess was that it was simply work. BTW, prior to the sudden splash of colors in today's Small Cafe Bag release, they started adding back a lot of color options to the Clear Organizier Wallet (no, they haven't offered French Blue, but you can get Storm for the first time, which is close in color; Kiwi Ballistic Nylon is back as an option, and so are colors like Burnt Orange and Grey (both new colors), and Crimson (which they've made up from the old 500d Cordura fabric). They've also released Snake Charmers in 1000d Cordura colors , including French Blue, though these are all back ordered for early December.

Hi guys,

Your photos of your bags are amazing and we want more people to be able to see them. To that end, we are in the process of creating a Flickr photo set (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tombihn/sets/) of customer photos for each of our bags. See the Camera I-O (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tombihn/sets/72157629549168076/) and People and Bags (http://www.flickr.com/photos/tombihn/sets/72157629587925318/) photo sets as an example.

If you would like your photos to be included in the sets, please email them to me -- darcy@tombihn.com (mailto:darcy@tombihn.com) -- along with how you would like to be credited and if there’s a URL to your blog or website that you’d like us to include. If you are OK with your photos being included but don't feel like emailing them to me, just respond here and I'll grab the photos you've posted here on the forums, or provide me with a link to your Flickr account if it's OK to grab them from there, too. Two choices
Stored full ready to go
Or flat flat as only dyneema can..
ours are in the linen closet
Empty the dyneema just disappears and take up very little space

TB accessories : scarves Talbots The blue print one was still online not long ago
Etsy makes luggage handles but maybe one day TB ..?
If TB had scraps leftover - accessories are a good way to use the scraps and to fulfill our need to accessorize Everything -
Its just a flat rectangle w Velcro
a key strap in the new style could let us add TB pouches to the outside
I am practicing wearing more black for an upcoming trip
But I was told to tone it down w the shoes and stick to dark accessories in Europe
I can use my black dyneema LS or Swift - as either is easy to clean

@gulfcoastgal I like Talbots, especially since they have always had a good line of petite clothing, and I last bought items from them when I was in one of their stores a little over a year ago (a dress and some sweaters during their summer sale). But it's difficult shopping from them when they have no stores in Hawaii and you can't try on items, regardless of how good their catalogs are. For a long time I used to be able to mail order pants, because they carried a product line that fit really well, before they discontinued it. But at the start of that time I could always walk into one of their stores to return or try something on.

Colorful accessories is what makes fashion. If everyone was wearing all black, all the time, ready to wear designers would go bankrupt.

I used to stick with black shoes, they go with everything and they slim out the foot lines but... last year I found very comfortable silver (the shade is more like TB matter silver zipper pull than glittery evening jewellery tone) shoes and have been wearing them, all the time, since then.

They are very soft leather, I don't like to buy anything in leather but I needed a waterproof shoe to replace the canvas ones I wear in good weather.

I visited France with them and there was no problem, your silhouette (petite and stylish) is very European, you will blend perfectly.

Your shoe wardrobe need to be dictated by the weather which is determined by the countries you are visiting and the season.

I put countries first, because, in southern Europe the seasons are much milder than in the north. (Some would say, duuuh)

There is also the influence of the Jet Stream which makes coastal Europe much milder than continental Europe.

So you would pack a different wardrobe if you were to visit Lisbon, Madrid and Rome or Barcelona, Nice and Milan versus London, Paris, Berlin or Bruxelles, Amsterdam, Oslo.

There are many Europeans in this forum and they will tell you what the weather is usually like for each season in their region.

A couple of weeks before leaving, when you start practice packing, ask for the weather trend in the regions you plan to visit to members of this forum and check the National Weather Service, BBC world weather...

Sometimes there are heat waves in october and cold spells in may so you want to be prepared.

He joined the family and it was two dogs ( the other a Disney style blonde terrier mutt ) and two long haired cats now we just have one cat and Zep

They all slept together in a row
All dog owners recognize this moment
If he does this -too close to the cat- the cat will give him a fake slap

Thank you
Usually- I wear very deep colors so exploring a black white gray palate is new for me
My daughter asked me not to dress like a bowl of three color sherbet when I travel
Haha
I have never been a T shirt or tennis shoes type
but never bought into dress for success look either
My work is with those who are hospitalized so the patients needed happy colors
Now I must wear scrubs 3/4 days a week ( changing soon)
But under my Caribbean deep blue scrubs may pop an orange nylon hoodie
Or an aqua shirt peeping out---or a turquoise Columbia nylon collared over shirt with sleeves buttoned at 3/4
Or orange Mary Janes or deep red loafers w a matching shirt
I should do a blog on scrubs like 333 haha
Naturally I adore TBs zesty love of color

My new crimson/navy SCB and Ego at work today:

http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/12/06/05d2dabcdfeb11588c06811ca1a0781b.jpg

Crimson is so bright! It's more vibrant than my old Crimson ballistic Swift (though that one is almost seven years old and could use a bath). I suppose it's got a tiny hint of orange but I would call it a true red. Paired with a green outfit, it's pretty festive.

And in the category of non-traditional uses of the double carabiner, I recently found my wedding ring after losing it for eight months. Given that I only take it off to apply hand lotion, and that's mostly at work, I rigged up an arrangement in my desk drawer top hopefully prevent a recurrence:

http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/12/06/e12a6a590b17c153e2b77930df7899cd.jpg

Now my ring gets clipped into the carabiner EVERY SINGLE TIME I take it off.

SO AWESOME! I actually cried just a little. I lost my ring back in the spring. I looked everywhere - work, home, car, my parents', everywhere - and gave it up for lost. Then about a month ago I got a new phone. A week ago I was wearing my usually 3-season fleece (after putting it away for the winter, but I pulled it out again when we had some unseasonably warm weather) and while I was waiting for my kids to get their boots on to leave the house, I looked down and realized that I hadn't tried putting my phone in the chest pocket of this fleece. Not that I ever put things in this pocket, but I wondered if it would fit. Clunk. Hmm, clunk?

So I had to contort my finger into a very odd position, but deep down, wedged into a crevice along the seam of the pocket, WAS MY RING!!!

It was one of my greater regrets that if lost it, so you can imagine just how it felt to see it again.

I want to thank @brendabethman, @kkintea, and @luvdabags for sharing their lovely Grey TB bags and accessories. They unknowingly enabled me to purchase a Grey/Navy SCB. I was hesitant of the purchase because I once had a MCB that did not work out because it was much too big for my needs and I disliked its vertical orientation. I was hoping since the SCB is smaller that I wouldn't mind it's not a horizontal bag, but, sadly, this isn't the case and I will be sending it back. I never thought I'd say I'd be interested in a knitting bag, but I now I'm curious about the new crossbody since it's about the size of a MCB, I think?

1. Grey is GORGEOUS and I must have more of it in my life. No, it does not hold a candle to my love of Burnt Orange, but it is definitely my second favorite TB color. If there is ever a run of Grey/Steel Synapes I will purchase without hesitation.
2. This is the first time I have ever seen Parapack and I love it as well.
3. Pardon my lousy photo taking abilities. :P

Thanks greatly to @tpnl. I managed to get hold an amazingly Like-New Smart Alec - awesome Black with happiness awesome Solar lining. The Smart Alec has been my EDC every work days, plus also short trips - if I need to bring my laptop with. I really really love the Bag. Most probably (I believe) due to the Yellow Hole (aka Black Hole) then also its functionality and design of the Smart Alec. I hope to get the Lower Modular Pocket, sometime next year for easy access.

What I wish to show here is, I am very very amazed by the Yellow Hole of Smart Alec.
It swallowed my 2 Thick Office File Binder of total Width: 3 Inches. Inclusive, my thicker Size 1 Brain Cell.
Impressive!

I normally carry only 1 File Binder plus others Paper Folder, Size 1 Brain Cell for my Laptop and its Adapter.

One day, I'd decided to try to see whether it could fit 2 File Binders. I am so so impressed.

Oh yeah - one more last wish before I closed this post - I hope Tom Bihn, could one day bring Parapack to replace the Cordura (side) of Smart Alec. I will definitely grab another Smart Alec with Parapack (in replace of Cordura), Black Ballistic and (must) Solar lining.

That's a great way to express the Smart Alec as "Work-Horse". Indeed, it is.

I actually plan to get a Shop Bag for carry these File Binder(s) for a long while. I never thought a Smart Alec could manage these!
Anyway, I could save the money on some other Tom Bihn's product.

I'm not sure where else to post these pics, seeing as this is more of a "show us your bags being awesome!" thread, but here goes.

I took my brand-new wire-cutter to my Nordic SE this morning and the results are pretty good.

9768

I've also found Dr Slick (http://doctorsprod.com/cbuy/doctor-slick-cork-grease) really helpful for keeping cork bags in good shape. I don't have anything with 100% flawless cork-- my Navy/Cork Imago has slight flaking and hairline cracks, and my small Cork pouch has flaked-- but after a couple of applications of Dr Slick, they have a protective layer of sorts and don't feel dry anymore. So, it helps improve even slightly damaged cork. Love it! (N.B. It's sticky for a couple of days after application, but dries up after that. It also won't stop already-debonding cork from debonding further.)

Yet again my large shop bag has proved that it is an overachiever during my latest grocery trip. What started out as a light shopping trip quickly multiplied into a large and heavy load when certain essentials like a 5 lb bag of organic potatoes, assorted broth and dairy goods, and other items made their way into my cart. Despite the huge assortment, the shop bag swallowed up everything without any problem. And yet again I received a compliment from the grocery staff. While I would not generally carry so many heavy items together, the padded handles ensured that the bag rested comfortably on my shoulder as I traversed the parking lot. Since I still can't believe how much this amazing bag accommodated, I just had to post a few photos, complete with tortie cat photobomb. Thank you again, TB, for creating the ultimate shopping bag!

Well I was told I had to wait until next year before I could by new ones, but one of my small ones was stolen by my partner as a gym bag. I've been using the other one as my gym bag (because that's how she got the idea--she kept dumping out my stuff and filling it with hers until I finally gave up). If I get in trouble for buying them early, I'll just blame her. :)

The small shop bag worked beautifully hung on the headrest of the front seat, allowing the kid in the car seat easy access to the library books. Thank you, thank you, seven hours of thank you for durable handles - those books are heavy!

Not terribly glamorous, but here's my Copilot on the way to a New Year's party, on the bus. They were free last night, the busses. That's a smart idea!
When I got to my friend's house, she saw the Tom Bihn label and said "That's your backpack." I was confused. She's the friend who borrowed my Aeronaut and she recognized the brand. Little does she know, all my bags have the same label. :)

(My) Walk to Remember @Bangkok, New Year 2015.

Just received my Canary SCB yesterday from my sister. I was amazed by the Cordura Yellow. Initially, I was skeptical that I will like the Yellow (due to Cordura) and hence, I may turn inside out to use it. However now, I simply in love with the Cordura Canary. It is really loud bright and kinda a bit transparent - perhaps some reflection. Also, kinda like ballistic with some sheeness.

Also, I love the Plum Snake Chamber as well. I'm planning to sell it to my local friends to get a longer Guide's Bag Left Pocket. But the beautiful Plum is making me to think twice.

Note: Left is Daylight Backpack French Blur Cordura. Middle bottom is I am wearing a Merino Wool under ankle socks by Smart Wool.

So you got to try a BB after all-- great. Yeah, I think the MCB is better for holidays too. The SCB is a bit small for all the holiday extras, e.g. maps, gloves/hat (if you're going to a cold place), souvenirs. That was my experience during my last vacation.

I had (have?) that book - it was my grandmother's and my college roommate would make the chocolate cake at least once a week. Which is why I'm not sure I still have my copy - I had every intention of sending it to that roommate just a couple of years ago and can't remember if I actually did it. After presenting to the Forum my Mt. TB (http://forums.tombihn.com/packing-lists-travel-tips/7556-etc-every-travel-carry.html#post90115) (loved the nickname @adalangdon gave to my haul!)

Let me slice and dice it!

10061

Those are TriStar/WesternFlyer Packing Cube Backpacks (http://www.tombihn.com/accessories/TB0924.html) on Black / Steel / Nordic Dyneema

Use: BOB´s (Bug Out Bags)

I use the Nordic to store my mother´s medical information and the Steel to store mine. I choose the TriStar/WesternFlyer version because it´s single compartment is big enough to store even x-rays. Inside attached to the o-ring I keep a large Double Organiser Pouch (http://www.tombihn.com/accessories/doubleorganizerpouch.html) to store medical insurance card, prescriptions, emergency phone numbers, document copies, and protein bars for emergency food (just in case)!

10063

And in a Clear Organiser Wallet (http://www.tombihn.com/accessories/TB0319MIW.html), some emergency cash.

Off to the Y for a workout and swim with Mr Terayon and the three littles. French blue S25 with diaper kit and workout clothes in PCSBs, crimson SCB with EDC and wasabi LSB with shoes and to carry wet swimsuits and towels later.

My Navy S19 and Burnt Orange DLBP (my wife using it) for our weekend at Legoland theme park, Malaysia. This is the bedroom of the suites that can accommodate up to 4 adults and 4 kids.

We used an A45 for my and my 14-year-old daughter (my firstborn needs adult diapers, lots of it), my 12-year-old son carried the Burnt Orange S19 for his clothes (my youngest daughter insisted on carrying her own cutie-pie Japanese backpack). The wife also carried my Linen SCB as a park bag, while I used a Side Effect.

Here is a quick pic of my recently acquired steel dyneema co-pilot and my Iberian small shop bag as I treated myself to a mid-afternoon snack. I have started using the CP as an EDC, and I am really warming up to it, plus a SSB fits perfectly in one of the front pockets, ready for overflow items. As much as I love my ballistic Pilot, the dyneema CP is really a great transitional bag that I can comfortably use from work to a casual environment.

Hello all,

Just wish to share my discovery and my first Shop Bags.
Last week, I received my first few Shop Bags. One New (Dyneema UV), directly from Tom Bihn, and another Used (Red Cordura) from eBay.
10519
Apologize, having a hard time, capturing and resizing the Red.

I am somewhat regret to get both Shop Bag because the UV (a Small Shop Bag) is way smaller than I initially thought. Also, the Red Cordura is way way (2x) smaller than current batch Small Shop Bag. I think, for a guy, Large Shop Bag is a better norm.

I went to my Aunt in Berlin for one night this weekend. The one, who has my Steel/UV Synapse 19. It was nice to see it again but since she uses it every day and loves it, I felt no pang when I had to leave it again.
Anyway, this is how I traveled: Imagine me where the Side Effect is with this very SE warped around me. The Cafe Bag went into the Synapse 19 as I got of the train. The Synapse had only "Hand Bag Stuff" in it, what I needed for the travel was in the Nightflight. I had loots of room to spare.

10641

By the way: this is a German Regional Train that means it stops at every small village when there is a train-station. They are a bit loud compared to the Inter City trains and I wished I had ordered the headphones bchaplin had recommended recently. I sure could have used them.

Ilkyway

PS: A piece of advice: always have some tissue paper on you when traveling in Europe. I was thankful for the package that lives in my SE when I had to use the bathroom.

Sadly not in time for a trip I just got back from, but I did repack the contents of my 22" roller into the A45 pretty easily, so that's good news. With some more practice I hope to pare down to the bare bones.

My order placed on Tuesday shipped Tuesday and arrived - today. Apologize if the colors are slightly off due to sun/shadow.

The FJN is a a present, I had to refrain from getting an additional red blend one for myself.

10727

When I prepared the order I noticed that there where still stuff sacks in solar left (sadly no YSSs) and although usually yellow is not my color, I wanted to at least give it a try and have the chance of owning one and knowing what the solar lovers are talking about ;).

Hi Everyone,

I just received my S25 in Grey/Iberian. I love it! (It will be replacing my S25 in Black Dyneema/Iberian).

I tried my hardest to use the lighting and shadows to capture the most accurate appearing grey in the pictures.

With my S25, I have pictured the following from 12 o'clock in clockwise order: COW (crimson), Q-kit (aubergine), SE (steel), Q-kit (navy), padded organizer pouch (small), padded organizer pouch (mini), mini COP (forest), 3DOC (olive parapack), SC (steel parapack), TSS Size 1 (solar).

Got the FJNs today. I'm planning to use mine as a loose-leaf notebook. What I did after getting it was to unbind the notebooks I've used this semester (Doane Paper and a French-ruled Clairefontaine), cut the pages, punch holes and load it into the FJN. It wasn't very smooth-sailing since my 3-hole adjustable puncher hasn't arrived, but I've since managed to get the hang of using a 2-hole punch. Am currently designing my own dividers for our FJNs.

As a side note, they are-- or feel?-- a lot bigger than expected, even though I'd drawn and cut out the dimensions of the FJN on scrap paper to get a feel of its size before buying. This is not really a Filofax replacement-- it is more like a self-contained note-taking kit. It's pretty damned great. Now I just wish the zips were smoother.

10802

Faithful companions (that's my Hobonichi on the right, which I use for scheduling)

10803

ETA: All set up now! Unused cut notebook pages go in front, to be used during the rest of the sem. Dug through my stack of souvenirs and found an A5 postcard from one of my favourite English restaurants, punched holes and turned it into a divider. Class notes from the previous week go behind and are all together in one place instead of being spread over 2 notebooks. The control-freak in me loves the flexibility of loose-leaf notebooks-- I can put anything inside and arrange it however I want. Next up: pocket organisers from Daytimer!

Haha, mine's pretty much that too. It does up to 50 pp at once. I love it so much. Is yours 2 or 3 hole?

And no the hobonichi won't go in the front pocket as it's too thick. It actually goes in my SCB :-)

It is 3 hole and can have even 4 but since it has to do FJN-duty we took out the 4th punch.

My Dyneema Swift arrived, and I was able to stuff it immediately with 20 pounds of really special (felts really well!) wool. I was amazed that this wool was able to cram itself in so neatly. I will say, this wool tries to cram itself into each and every TB bag I get. I really wish I had the picture of it trying to diligently get into a PCSB, but only part of it fit. Anyway, here's a pic of the stuffed bag.10814

Yeah, Red Blend is classy and surprisingly conservative. I'm definitely more of a Plum person, but I don't think I'd be able to get away with using a Plum FJN in certain work situations. What I really wish though, is that I'd grabbed an RB wallet. I thought, meh, Red Blend, nice but a bit too sedate #regretsville Why'd you go for Grey instead of RB?

My Tom Bihn ordered arrived yesterday! I have two pictures to share for now and a few initial thoughts. The first photo is the unboxing: ID in Black/Steel/Wasabi (with 4Z cache on rails inside), iPad Mini cache, medium Cordura Organizer Pouch in forest, and small Q-kit in navy. The second photo is the ID next to my current work bag, Timbuk2 Ram Convertible Laptop bag.

10836

10837

Now a few thoughts. Though the ID is very similar in size to my Ram, I can fit more larger items in the Ram. I had to remove all the things from the Clear Quarter Packing Cube and Snake Charmer and repackage them in smaller pouches. I ended up fitting all the contents in several pouches. I had really hoped the power charger for the laptop would have fit in the small Q-kit but it was just a wee bit too large. (Now I need to find a use for the small Q-kit ...) But the I was able to fit the charger and my full-sized wireless mouse in the medium COP. I used a mini and small COP to transfer the items from the CQPC. In the end, though, there are things I could not fit into the ID. No showstoppers, but little things.

I will do a more thorough review when I get a better feel for the bag. I made such a mess taking things out of one bag and packing, re-packing for the other that I could not really get photos. If I would have videoed it and then played it at fast speed to the Benny Hill theme, it would probably have gone viral!

The most important takeaway is the Dell Latitude E6430 laptop fit comfortably in the 4Z cache. It's snug but not tight and slides in and out easily.

More to come ...

I ordered an Aeronaut 45 in December in Aubergine/Wasabi and was hoping to first use it on a trip to the Hoh Rain Forest, as I'm determined to finally visit when it's actually raining. Gotten drenched in many areas of the park but I'm 0 for 4 in the Hoh. I had to postpone the trip though as sadly our eight-year-old cat Emma (she was the one in my ID review if you saw that) had been battling an illness that got much worse in December and she died in early January, and then the rest of the pets went through illnesses from major to minor, and then we adopted a young cat that needed a home, so the last few months have been a bit chaotic. I'm still hoping to get up there this spring, but in the meantime I took a macro shot of the ballistic nylon fabric.
