I agree 100%. Red blend/coyote cordura would make an awesome cafe bag IMO.

That's what I just did yesterday. It seemed like it was very worthwhile to get some goodies I can put to use earlier.

I don't think so, it says late April, we all know how awesome the Crew is to overachieve but this might be a bit too much to ask for. But I am contend to wait. I have the plum old-style FJN and am playing a bit with Midoris around.
But having the design gone for god and this lovely color all over the world... well I want one too. I think I am way past actual "need" and with "wants" I am more patient, if this makes any sense.

Only if I ask them to just ship it (was too busy to think about it today so my last hope is Monday, which gets to me on TH). When I ordered my red blend, it was in stock. I have a DLBC on back order with a late March ship date. I've been in contact with Matthew and they haven't started on them yet. It's cool though. They've been so busy with all the new stuff and I totally get the excitement on that. I'll just have a giant box waiting for me when I get back (I hope)!

I ordered mine well before it went on back order so I could get it by TH if I asked them to go ahead an ship right away. At least I think I would. I guess I've just assumed my order is sitting in a box, just waiting for the DLBC in a different order.

To me gassing for shipping things as they are ready would never be an option due to shipping fee being nearly an other Side Effect worth of money. It has its good sides: I do not have to think about it. The bags come as they come ;-)

I put some pictures in with this post just to so that I wound clutter this thread with no-picture-posts: I had taken these pictures some days ago and was hoping to find the post that prompted me to take them: someone had posted, that the new Spiff Kit Standard fits nicely into the Front Modular Pocket of the Smart Alec. If the original poster reads this THANK YOU!!! and please put a link to your post here.
This is a great fit and such a need idea I had to take pictures.

Ilkyway, I posted the idea in the What Did You Order thread, but I did not have any beautiful photos like yours.

ceepee without any problems. But it takes up quite a bit space and since the body can "go" for over two weeks I'd rather take a fully loaded without the case if I travel not too long. But if you want to, you can use the case and the Spiff Kit together.

@Ilkyway the burnt orange is glorious in person! (Pictures do not do it justice). But the big surprise for me was the black SCB. I bought it because sometimes one just needs a black bag, and was pleasantly surprised at how nice the black is. It's a deep, rich black (if that makes any sense) and I like the steel interior.

The SSK turned out to be too small for a knitting notions case, so I may try a deluxe. But it's the perfect size as an EDC cosmetics bag. Very happy with this order (and already planning the next one, which will include an FJN :-)

@brendabethman, I second that burnt orange praise! My Q Kit came in burnt orange (don't remember if I asked for that offhand) and it might be my most favorite little item I have from TB. It's currently sitting on my desk with a 16" Steel o-ring key strap attached to it so I can look at it an sigh with joy. (These are my final days of spring break from both work and school, so it will be put to use starting Monday).

I agree completely that it's impossible to get a pic that does it justice.

I'm anxiously awaiting my FJN in burnt orange to arrive!

Yeah, I love TB blacks! The Cordura and Ballistic blacks are especially gorgeous. When I got my Black/UV S19 and SE, I found myself swooning over how rich the black was. Even the black nylon in black dyneema is really deep. Black-- but especially Black/UV-- FTW!

My most recent order including a DLBP in Burnt Orange as a second-choice colour. I'd been expecting a subdued version of signal orange, but it's actually a rich copper colour.

Yeah, Spyderco has always been my #1 for modern one hand opening knives. My favorite is the UK Pen Knife, the orange knife on the left. It is one of the best designed knives I've ever used and if I had to keep only one Spyderco the UKPK would be it.

I see you have the Gayle Bradley in that picture. I only got to handle one briefly but it's a nice piece, quite a solid workhorse with the M4 steel.

No, French Blue is not as dark as it shows up in the picture of the Synapse 25. That's an effect of the exposure and lighting. However, the product page image colors generally tend to appear lighter than in real life. You could take a look at @taminca's Daylight Backpack Impressions/Photos (http://forums.tombihn.com/photos-videos-and-reviews/7893-daylight-backpack-impressions-photos.html) thread. That thread, and the Daylight Backpack (http://forums.tombihn.com/general-bag-discussion/7876-daylight-backpack.html) thread, carry the bulk of the pictures of the Daylight Backpack at the time it was released, and at that time most of the pictures were taken in French Blue. (The pictures in the second Daylight Backpack (http://forums.tombihn.com/general-bag-discussion/7876-daylight-backpack.html) thread don't really start until @NWHikergal's posts (http://forums.tombihn.com/general-bag-discussion/7876-daylight-backpack-post70225.html#post70225), also in French Blue).

I also think the French Blue color shown in @Ilkyway's French Blue and Aubergine (http://forums.tombihn.com/photos-videos-and-reviews/8269-french-blue-aubergine.html) threads pretty accurate.

I submit this photo more as an example of the S25 on a real live person out in the world, rather than as an example of what French Blue's true colour. In natural light, it is definitely not as dark as in this photo, which was taken with my phone at 5 a.m. under very high fluorescent lighting, and as you can see from the floor, in a not-especially-well-lit spot. IMHO many TB colours do look darker in real life than in the photos on the product pages, including French Blue. All due respect to Ilkyway's photography skills which are clearly far ahead of mine (not to mention her willingness to take and share so many photos!), but I think those photos are also a bit lighter than what I see in real life. Of course, colours vary from monitor to monitor, so maybe it's me.

Is this an accurate photo of Red Blend? I want to order a FJN, but am torn between Grey and Red Blend. Photos of both are most welcome.

I got my Aeronaut 30 on Monday and I love it. I've only done some practice packing, but I'm fairly positive this will become my main bag for travel! 11181

Here it is sitting with me CP! I'm tempted to buy a NFTD just to get it in Steel/UV and have three steel bags with different interiors. I may have problems

Haha! This is true. I keep telling myself it would be the perfect snack bag. I was in dire need of a bag bigger than my CP but smaller than my S25 on a last minute trip a couple of weeks ago. I ended up taking the S25 and my mother proceeded to place all of her excess stuff into my backpack making it uncomfortably heavy. I think the NFTD could hold everyone's snacks well. My only hesitation is that for most times, my CP fits my almonds, craisins, etc fine. Although, the NFTD I could fit the sandwiches and other items we sometimes bring along.

Oh no, I think I've talked myself into ordering one!

Are you using the PU as a diaper bag or a carry-all?

It is now the "big kid bag" as kiddo objects to the term "diaper bag" now. I have occasionally used it as my only shoulder bag for a day out and about, but then I have to be picky about what I carry as the bag's profile is slim, and most of the space is taken up with snacks, water bottle, extra socks, etc. leaving limited space for my wallet and other items. The ballistic material handles very nicely and I don't fret about putting it on the ground over the course of our outings. Most of my bags are Dyneema, so this is a different feel for me.

I bought a navy/UV, and another verde/UV to us as a large purse because of the slim profile. Even one of the front gusset pockets holds a SE. I carry 2 stainless travel mugs every day, and can put one on either end, catty-corner to balance the weight.

Unboxing photos:

11271

Red blend LCB, verde/UV PU, burnt orange SE (giving orange a try), and a UV COC.

2nd box:

BO DLBP, wasabi SS, forest pen/pencil case, BO M DOP, Iberian TT, orange 152 COC, solar MOP, Iberian fabric OC, and one of the light thingies on solar strap.

(I don't know how to rotate my pics right side up)

ETA: will have to decide on the BO. I DO love the orange 152 (?) In the COC (probably have my abbreviations wrong. .) I love the red blend/olive LCB. I've ordered the Absolute Strap on all large bags from the get go. I'd had a navy PU, but ordered the Verde/UV, and so decided on it and sent the navy back. The Verde will go with everything I have. Down the road perhaps I'll get another, after giving this a run for the money. For the most part, I'm trying to not hang onto duplicates yet - except pouches, SSs, etc.

Tomorrow I'll try out the SKD since I'll be going out of town this weekend. I don't have to worry about weight since it's a car trip. Something not mentioned in the SK threads is kind of weird. I have a dental partial. I'm sure some folks here have dentures. I figured the denture cup will fit better in the SKD than the SK. I can use travel sizes for almost everything, but unless I just wear it to bed, i need to protect the partial when it's out of my mouth.

I just got mine that ordered on release day, but waited to have everything shipping together as I had a different item in back order. So while I could have had it 4 days after release, I waited until Early April for it to actually be delivered. I suspect something similar for this person.

Thank you gochicken and taminca! I liked the idea of having the matching paracord to the dyneema and figured doing that would add a bit more color besides the steel. I like having my bags match but with the paracord the interiors can be differentiated (not that passersby would probably think about such things!)

Great to see the steely collection. I am waiting on a steel/wasabi Pilot, which will join a steel/Iberian TS, a steel/UV SE, and a steel/solar A45. Cool elegance that is suitable for business, but just different enough to stand out from a sea of black bags. I never really planned it that way but the collection just grew.

And I really like the paracord! Makes a great contrast.

After that I went for a nice bike ride, and my Synapse was a champ for both endeavors. I'm all packed and ready for my month long trip to Far Western China. Leaving tonight. The weather will range from hot during the day to around 5C at night. The trip was going to be delayed due to a broken wrist but it turned out not to be as bad as they thought. So I'm out of plaster and ready to go. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/19/cb43ceabd142aef021c49e97bc349550.jpg.

My Steel wasabi A45 has in the main compartment :
2 dresses, a long sleeve shirt and a skirt in a TB half PC
3 short sleeved shirts and two merino cardigans in the other half PC
1 stretch pants, I jeans and 1 fleecy jacket in a wasabi PCBP.
I have pajamas in the zip compartment in the top.
I have under wear and socks in a small wasabi SS.
An umbrella, , water bottle and Gortex rain jacket and sun hat are filling in the gaps.

In one side pocket I have a wasabi PCSB with a pair of Skechers and a pair of Birkenstocks inside. I also have a pair of gloves, a travel towel and sleep sheet in that compartment.

In the other side compartment I have two QCPC. One has electrics in one side and medicine in the other. The other cube has toiletries and various things like a washing line.

I'll be checking the A45 because I'm not sure about its size and what Chinese airlines require. I also have some long waits in airports and thought it would be good not to have to worry about the bag. I know most of you are probably feeling uncomfortable about that but it's suits me.

I'm taking my red blend and olive MCB on the plane.. It's got an azure medium DOP in the front pocket with paperwork for the trip. There is an olive small OP in the front pocket with a few bits and pieces in it.

In the main compartment I've got a COC with my one a day contact lenses (35 in all) and my glasses. I have my passport in a round the neck money belt and a Kiwi COW with cards, a burnt orange small DOP for different currencies when I get there.. I've also got a torch in the main section. In the pockets I have a phone, notepad, pen, comb and earbuds. I've got a size 2 SS folded in the front pocket to put the cardigan I'm wearing in if I get hot. My camera is in there as well. My iPad Air is in the back pocket with a standard cover and in a sleeve.

I have my waist strap in my forum gift and will use a luggage tag to hold my antiseptic hand lotion when I get there.

I've been lurking in the forums for months and have made one large purchase. I would like to thank everyone for their ideas. It's been such fun thinking about it all and trying to get a light load. The A 45 weighs 9 kg which I'm pretty pleased about. I'm not a minimalist packer but feel I have everything I need. I have heaps of room for purchases and have the PCSB and PCBP if needed on the way home.

@ewalkers thread about cameras enabled me to buy a Sony rx100 III ( I hope Moriond can find the thread.) I think it was also ewalker who had a great thread about PC in the A 45 which helped me enormously in making up my mind about what to buy. He was placing the PC in vertically rather than horizontally. Shipping costs to Australia are $65.00 i.e. a whole MCB so I really wanted the order to be right and thanks to you all I'm packed happy with what I've done and ready to go.

I'll try to post pics of my MCB in exotic locations !

Nice packing list, @SueK.

While I'm confident in the A45's ability to withstand the hold, please keep your electronics and medications on you. If the bag goes missing, if you have your drugs you'll at least be able to address the headache you'll undoubtedly get.

If you are already planning on doing this, please ignore me. I hope you will treat us to some photos when you get back.

I also notice that the TB label is a new one I have not seen on a Synapse before (I have seen it on a few other bag models - e.g. new A45s, Nightflight, Founder's Briefcase and DLBC - but not a Synapse yet) - instead of just saying "Made in USA", it also has "Since 1972" - Still miss the Portable Culture label but this is a nice update. I wonder if this the new "normal" TB label.

Thanks again for sharing

@linenchicken, Can you also add this picture of your travel trays to the Tom Bihn bags as art (http://forums.tombihn.com/general-bag-discussion/7588-tom-bihn-bags-art.html) thread @dorayme started? It just seems so appropriate! And your layout echoes the motif set by her Little Swifts.

I have to confess that I don't have Travel Trays in every Dyneema color. So not having one in Wasabi, I can't use this as an impromptu lamp in the same way that @bchaplin did, in the Color my Travel Tray (http://forums.tombihn.com/just-for-registered-members/7323-color-my-travel-tray.html) thread:

Yes marytattoo - it is a Medium. I have wanted a Small one for a year or so but there are no colors I'm really interested in. So I broke down and got this Medium. I actually bought a SCB years ago in Kelly green but never used it (not the right color for me at all) and gave it to my SIL. She has it on EVERY time I see her! Made me rethink the brand and so I ret'd to this site in the last year to look at bags and colors.

Thanks about the photos, GoStanford. I had feared that the Linen color might be too light - but as I said it is darker than I expected from the TB photos. My photos are the true color. At least of my bag!

I guess I can keep the linen Cafe Bag train rolling since my small version with steel interior came last night. I really like the color and the size is pretty spot on for what I was looking for as a step down from the Co-Pilot. A few quick shots.

Geez. Never thought I'd go for Linen. But I'm liking it. For all you Bihners with multiple bags of the same style, how do you get around to using them all?

Geez. Never thought I'd go for Linen. But I'm liking it. For all you Bihners with multiple bags of the same style, how do you get around to using them all?

I can answer that! I now have (ahem!) 12 SCBs since I re-homer the azure bag that was under loved by @bchaplin The SCB is my PLO, so I always have one with me and rotate them on a regular (sometimes daily, sometimes every couple of days) basis to coordinate with what I am wearing. Yes, I know I am a little obsessive with the matching :-)

The Swifts serve different purposes as I outlined in this thread: http://forums.tombihn.com/general-bag-discussion/9362-my-swifts.html

Otherwise, I don't really have duplicates -- I do have a few SEs but I may de stash some as they've basically been replaced by the collection of SCBs.

I have been serving on a jury for the past month. Today, we started deliberations. Although my normal everyday carry is the Packing Cube Shoulder Bag, I've been using my black Dyneema Daylight Briefcase because I've been carrying more things (like snacks, bottles of water, etc.).

Here is my photo of my bag in the jury deliberation room. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04/29/3537bc87db9350a8eb83ab748c7b812a.jpg

The SSB and SE paired together are great touring EDC. It's not great if you're expecting moderate to heavy rain, but in hot climates where you need to carry important but non-essential stuff and have your essentials at hand, this is a great combo because it's very lightweight and the heat stays off your back. I had brought along my S25 with the intention of using it as a daybag, but ditched it after my first day. Wearing office clothing and walking around in the heat with a big and moderately heavy backpack on was extremely uncomfortable. When I got back to the hotel that night, I pared down my EDC further and busted out the SSB. Theft was not an issue because all my $ and other important stuff was in my SE, which was cross-body and always in front of me.

Here is a pic of my SSB (complete with giant maroon furball of doom) and SE on the tour bus. My RB FJN is peeking out of the SSB.

Or if (like me) your wardrobe is mostly white, various shades of grey, black, or navy, there will always be bags that will go with any given outfit. I have some favourites, though-- Azure goes with anything dark blue, while I like carrying my Punch and Azalea bags with a black or dark grey top. (Really not a matchy person here)

One area where the small Cafe Bag does come up short is in its number of zippers. There's just one, which doesn't do much for my obsession to tie cord pulls, but it does let you add a bit of color for complement. There's a little peek of it here.

I found a scrap piece of orange and it was just long enough to make the pull. I really like orange and tan as a color combo and the cord does it a bit lessen to the jangly sound.

jujigatame and I had thought my storrage area of TB/Bag parts and tweeking parts was kind of neat. This is a bit step up, but if you do not mind, I will "steal" the general idea.

As for the first picture, where your orange zipper pull only just peaks out under the flap, I thought how cool it mirrored the bright color spot of red that the plain is.

It does look more red in some lights than others. Seems to be one of those shades that saturates too much on camera a lot of the time. As for organizing parts and whatnot, fishing tackle boxes are always a good place to start. I had to do it out of necessity because I could never find what I wanted when it was all just a big jumble in a shoebox.

Are all of your buckles from TB?

No, most of it is from outdoor or tactical gear retailers. I have a weakness for clips, buckles and the like.

Definitely digging this color.

My wife and I were stopping by at a Supermarket for a quick purchase of Fruits, Snacks and Drinks for a usual meetup with our friends. I forgot to bring my Small Shop Bag and we had to carry our purchases with our hands. Then I thought I could slip-in the Watermelon into my Small Cafe Bag. Not those big round shape Watermelon, but more like a small-medium size oval shape watermelon. And, I was kinda surprise to see the Watermelon slipped in well.

In case you wonder why the Supermarket doesn't provide any Plastic Bag for our purchase. At here, we have "No Plastic Bag Day" every weekend - Friday to Sunday.

It is a Canary Small Cafe Bag. We were walking towards our car.
The Canary in the photo could be too bright, as my wife used Flash in capturing the photo and may had been overexposed the brightness. In real life, it isn't so much. For me, it is just the right bright Yellow.

I'm with you @jujigatuame. I really appreciate really well made buckles - no idea why. I currently like paraglide buckles - used in parachuting.

I also have a stash of TB buckles, straps and hooks to try various carry options with my TB bags. Their metal shoulder strap hooks are my favorite as they are so heavy duty. I also love their gatekeeper clip accessories - very useful to link things together!

Cheers!

PS. To answer the question below, the bags get the most use in proportion to their small size; i.e., the Daylight Backpack probably goes outside the most, and the Smart Alec, beautiful as it is, is too bulky for every day carry. Though it does get to travel to exotic destinations sometimes.

Since finding TB, I've spent a boatload of $ from the mother ship. I've also purchased used items. My goal is to get a few things that retired before I knew Bihn. So, I've found a few things solar from the store, a couple of kiwi items as well as a few pouches in azalea. But I've searched elsewhere, and have found LSs, this nordic SCB as well as a Nordic Swift! These are colors I have always liked, so am glad to find them. They are things only found used because they've been retired. Tonight I switched out my SE to this nordic SCB.

@weirdguy, Not sure about the Flickr sets, but I'm guessing that the "Spring-Like KeyStrap" may be one of the coiled lanyards from REI (http://www.rei.com/product/862376/seattle-sports-drydoc-coiled-lanyard-package-of-4) that are described in more detail in @jujigatame's My Co-Pilot: new pictures & thoughts (http://forums.tombihn.com/photos-videos-and-reviews/9279-my-co-pilot-new-pictures-thoughts.html) thread, and that the numbering in your references correspond to the pictures in that thread about the Co-Pilot.

In the Travel Stuff Sack (size 1) are two tiny shop bags for "emergency" extra capacity needs. When I was packing the bag that TSS was kind of left over. I clipped it on there to try it and it worked really well. Not sure how it would work with heavy stuff though.

I prefer this over taking my Synapse 19 whilst traveling because it is easier to access stuff without taking it off. The big pocket at the back makes taking maps and tickets out a lot easier.

Hi Darcy,
I was playing with this light after arriving late at night with my Steel WF in tow. I feel it really shows how beautiful Ballistic Nylon can be. I tagged TB in this picture on flickr, but I figured you'd appreciate if I posted it here as well.

Here are my navy pair--Aeronaut 45 and NFTD--after a 5 day trip to Toronto from LA. The NFTD is such a great under seat bag and the Aeronaut is big enough to handle all my stuff but still fit in the overhead bins of those all-too-common regional jets. The gate agent even tried to gate check it, but I said "No it fits in the overhead bins." She looked skeptical but Im sure she was surprised when I didn't come back to her to gate-check it.

11631

P.S. I did notice a slight difference between the navy on the Aeronaut and the NFTD. Not a complaint per se, but it was obvious in the low what institutional lighting of the airport:

The bags look great, and that is a good-looking bowl of laksa. I went to Singapore many years ago as a kid and would love to go back, because this time I would try out the hawker stalls!

My Indigo/Solar S19 relaxing after a grueling hill workout during our 5:30 am bootcamp class. This hill is about 15% grade for about 80 yards, then you reach the plateau and think you're home safe. But then it's another 30 yards at a 5% grade until you reach the fence. 5x up and down today. Great training for my first half-marathon in August (pretty terrified as I hate running).

No. ....? Do tell...

From Wikipedia: The phrase "The pot calling the kettle black" is an idiom used to claim that a person is guilty of the very thing of which they accuse another.

Because, you know that the only reason your most recent order came in a small box is because you already have all the big ones, right? :D

Nice pic and I am totally impressed both with your hill repeats and carrying all that weight in your S19 - maybe you did read my mind about a different bag! Though the indigo looks lovely in the field. You will be fine for your half marathon, especially since you are training now. Last summer I trained for my first half marathon using the Hal Higdon beginner half marathon schedule, and it was totally doable by training incrementally. Good luck!

This is silly, but I was pretty happy when I realized I could decorate a TB cube without damaging it.

And today, I took a Swift and S19 to a nearly deserted school library. I had some waiting to do, so I loaded the Swift with my pencil box and FJN (plus EDC) and did some drawing to kill time. I love the S19/Swift combination for heavier days as it allows me to carry the heaviest stuff on my back while the Swift takes care of the lighter and bulkier stuff.

1) Why is that silly? We will not laugh! We all share your enthusiasm for TB products.
2) Nice looking library! I like to see pictures like yours of products out in use - gives me good ideas and is a nice complement to the test-pack photos which are more "staged" in a way, but also very helpful. I hope you had a nice time with your drawing!

It is very nice! School's out, so there wasn't much traffic. But still enough to make me move to a spot where no one could see my screen, because I was drawing a nude from a photo on my laptop and didn't want stares 8-) The desk is pretty big-- bigger than my usual desk at home-- so yes, a good time was had (I finished the drawing later).

Received synapse 25 yesterday. First time I've ever seen Tom Bihn bag in person and I really like the fabric used. It will look at home in office and at the gym and feels much tougher and put together than I expected, so I will use as "personal item" for travel. The zippers on the main compartment are beefy. I stuffed it with the things I carry everyday: gym clothes and shoes, 11" MBA in sleeve, JBL Charge, camera, headphones, reading glasses, sunglasses, handtowel, wallet, business cards, pens, usb charger and various cables adapters.
12032

A few things, packed out with my stuff there's still so much room left over. Also I will need more key straps...how many who knows! And I see a SE (http://www.tombihn.com/accessories/TB0412.html)in my future as well.

Just received my adopted RB FJN today! Third time's the charm for this cute bag as there were two previous owners. I put my own twist on it with a quickly made decorative zipper pull...not really needed, but I thought the spiral complimented the curved seams of the zippers.

My mom is a retired elementary school teacher who spent her entire career focused on reading, so she ALWAYS has a big collection of library books when my three daughters come over. Two dozen or so picture books is a heavy load for any tote bag, and hers was definitely not up to the job. Between the SSB's perfect size, the padded handles, and the UV-ness, there was clearly only one thing to do.

I've not really used my shop bags until last week when I was away. I was on retreat and planned to use my DLBP to carry a few things around the (large) monastery. But instead I flipped my shop bag inside out, put my travel mugs (1 for water and 1 for coffee) in the pockets, and inside, my back pillow, kindle, phone, and journal. Very light weight, walking all around. Worked better for this purpose than the DLBP.

P.S. Some people wish they had a zest travel tray to match an orange back paw.

One thing that is really difficult to convey in photos is that NW sky has an almost magical sheen to it in certain lights in the same way that parapack does. I am very fond of it as well.

I'd like to just add... the Horizontal Freudian Slip was "supposed" to be backorder until late June, even says it on the packing slip. But here it is. Thank you Tom Bihn folks! AND I love the parapack (sp?) material. I have been using another one I bought many moons ago and love it enough to want a second for organizing specific teaching materials. This new material looks like it will stand up the rigors of small fingers and silly putty!

Let me also add the zest is amazing! (Small shopping bad and medium stuff sack.) Bright and lovely in the sun. Getting ready to head to the farmers market and can't wait to wander around with it and see just how much asparagus and rhubarb it will hold. If the TB gods decided to make the swift in zest... mercy me!

Can one really have too many travel trays? Since this is my fourth I'm going to go with, "No." My husband uses his to hold the candy he hides in his desk. My daughter uses hers to hold her pocket knife and all manner of sticks and rocks she has collected at the end of the day. But this one, the Island one... it's mine and I'm hiding it.

Lastly, Nordic. I'm sorry I ever doubted you. I'm sorry I didn't pick up a truck load when you were here, but alas I have one last memento due to the kindness, ridiculous kindness of the Tom Bihn folks. Thank you.

Now I am sorry I didn't order a shop bag in Zest! Very nice photos!

I am holding my breath that they will make more. Hoping with you.

Terayon, that's an awesome looking cabin! I love that big porch. I volunteer to help pick up rocks if I can stay there. ;) The hammock will do fine.

I can take no credit for the photo or the toes. Both are my friend's who was in the car above me :-)

My first post; so hope it works. I appreciate all of the amazing posts by others on the forums. They helped me decide on two TB bags that I recently took on a tour of Iran. A black/ultraviolet Western Flyer was a great carryon bag; while a linen DLBC was a fantastic daily travel bag that I used to carry my camera (a Panasonic GM5 + Olympus 12-40/2.8), small organizer pouch with some local currency, and other items needed during the day. The photos were taken at an old cararvanserai which had been converted into a restaurant.

Am I the only voting for a limited edition nail polish in island and zest? Or maybe even coloured knitting needels?

😀😀

Nope, I would vote for that, too!

How did you manage to find a place that matches your linen DLBC so beautifully? The addition of the red zipper pulls to match the red in the TB label really stands out against the "light latte" of the linen...great idea!

Sometimes you just get lucky with photographs. This time there were lots of opportunities because red is a color frequently used in Persian carpets. I chose the red zipper pulls for the reason you mentioned. They also worked well as a quick visual check to make sure all zippers were closed when we walked through crowded bazaars, getting in and out of vehicles, etc.

I've said that I think French Blue and Island are close colors. What do you think? Here is a MCB in FB with an Island SSS.

And with the new colors in OPs.

I was excited to acquire an Imago. I've heard great things about this bag, and may like it better than the PU for a knitting/all purpose bag because I can just stuff in knitting stuff sacks and it has the back flat slip pocket. (I still adore my swifts, though!) I'm a bit OCD with feeling the need to use every single PU pocket! I'm not a red person any more than an Orange person, but just like zest finally connected me with Orange, the crimson Imago sold me on red.

Here is the inside of the Imago:

And with Island and Sky (zest just doesn't work!)

@marytattoo, The match in color between Island and French Blue is closer with the most recent batch of French Blue Cordura products: I have a 3DCOC that came in recently (tags still on) that is closer to Island than my earlier FB Daylight Backpack or organizer pouches in French Blue. It's not fading in the color, but rather the small variation in different production batches that makes the sheen on the current material look a little more intense and a slightly closer match to Island. At the same time, I like Island in Dyneema more than I like French Blue in Cordura. The overall effect is different, and more like a teal blue. Gauging the overall effect of colors with the patterned Dyneema grid is difficult. For example, before Iberian Dyneema was released, there were a lot of forum requests for a "red" Dyneema product, and Darcy said that many of the experimental tries came out looking like pink. And even though the color of Wasabi Dyneema matches the color of solid 500d Wasabi Cirdura that was used as a lining staple for so long, I still like the solid Wasabi better for lining functions than the Wasabi Dyneema (which is not to say that I think it could compete with a Wasabi Shop Bag in beauty).

BTW, up until early this year (when the number of available colors exploded, including new colors like Red Blend, Azure, Orange 152' Grey, etc.), all the 3D Clear Organizer Cubes used to have a strip of Wasabi on the bottom. For the Cordura 3DCOCs it would be 500d Wasabi Cordura, and for the Dyneema 3DCOCs it used to be Wasabi Dyneema. This was universally true, regardless of the color of the cube -- Azalea, Indigo, Storm, Plum, Turquoise, etc. all had a strip of Wasabi on the bottom. this was similarly true of my Dyneema 3DCOCs -- I just checked a Solar and an Iberian 3DCOC, and both have Strips of Wasabi Dyneema on the bottom. I haven't seen this commented on elsewhere, so I thought I'd add a note.

Beautiful reds in your old Crimson/Steel/Crimson (Yang) Imago. That lining is 500d Crimson Cordura. I miss these vivid reds from the current line-up of colors. And I was amazed that they managed to dig up enough 500d Crimson Cordura to offer it for the bags like the ID, Ego, and Super Ego (see Darcy's To Be Retired: ID, Ego, Super Ego, Zephyr, Field Journal Notebook (http://forums.tombihn.com/general-bag-discussion/9240-retired-id-ego-super-ego-zephyr-field-journal-notebook.html) post; Zephyr and FJN are now retired but the remaining bags all still have versions with Crimson interiors). My original Aeronaut (from the first batch made) is Crimson Ballistic Nylon, as is my (discontinued, but still regularly used by me) Lux bag (http://assets.gearlive.com/blogimages/tombihnlux.jpg) that was the predecessor of the Swift.

I agree, @moriond: the Island Dyneema does remind me of teal [though I don't have any French Blue to compare it to]. But what I want to know. @marytattoo, is who you had to bribe to get those OPs in Zest and Island Dyneema. So beautiful!

moriond - off-topic but do you recall which shade(s) of red were used for the Smart Alec? I scored one off eBay but don't know if it's Crimson or Cardinal. Either way, I love it, but was just curious. :)
