The Maker's Bag with everything I need to go spend some time knitting at a cafe (or for an Indiana Jones adventure)!

* an iPad Air 2 inside a Cache in the back zippered pocket.
* a book on knitting projects in the back zippered pocket.
* a water bottle in one side pocket.
* a thermos with lunch in the other side pocket.
* circular needles in a knitting organizer pouch.
* yarn in one of the open pockets.
* a project (please feel free to laugh, I'm learning :) ) in the open area.

Not laughing at all but words of advice from one knitting novice to another--get that project in a stuff sack! Or a plastic baggie even. It's SO easy for a project to slip off the needles or for your yarn to get snagged.

PS I love the color of the yarn. What are you making?

Was in a Nordic mood as we went off to my son's brithday party earlier this afternoon.

It was a laser tag party, and the Side Effect was perfect - it held my wallet, iPhone, keys, mints, and earphones. And it allowed me to run around unhindered!

Sorry, not run - we're not allowed to run. It allowed me to move quickly around! :)

Yesterday was a cold, wet, windy day, so the perfect day to spend walking around downtown, right?

Here is the Maker's Bag, loaded with wallet, keys, and plenty of stuff sacks and Small Shop Bag in preparation for carrying purchases - as most of my planned purchases were small, the Makers Bag with Stuff Sacks was the perfect way to carry them easily:

And when we stopped at The Cheesecake Factory for dinner (and shopping recovery) and ended up with too much food as always, it turns out the Small Shop Bag is the perfect size for carrying to-go boxes:

I will have three teenagers in the house soon, and so I took the plunge and bought them all a Yeoman's Duffel for Christmas. A bit expensive, but I am happy knowing they will get a lifetime of use out of their gift... and hopefully every time they use it, remember me, their TB addicted mom, long after I'm gone.

I am grateful for TB, the company and crew he stands behind, and the TB community. Wishing all of you precious time with family and friends, a blessed Christmas, and a wonderful New Year!

Small Shop Bag goes to Ikea!!

Yesterday I made a "quick" Ikea trip to pick up some bookshelves and hangers. Since I needed "just one thing" from the Marketplace area, I didn't bother to pick up a cart or a yellow bag on my way in. Welllllllllllllllll, we all know how that goes, and by halfway through the Marketplace I was doing some fancy juggling to avoid dropping anything. Small Shop Bag to the rescue, it's nearly the size of a yellow Ikea bag, much easier to carry, and I just happened to have one in my Small Cafe Bag! So I tucked my items into it and wandered the rest of the store, adding a few more things as I went. Then when it came time to pull furniture from the warehouse area, the SSB was so easy to just set aside for a few minutes while loading, then balanced easily on top of a cart full of furniture!

My oldest will be going off to college in the fall. He has already said he wants a Maker's Bag, although he wants one in Forest/Steel. I think he would get a lot of value out of a Yeoman's Duffel as well.

As an aside, I know our Christmas tree is already ripe with TB gifts. I know for a fact there's an A45 (Aubergine/Zest) waiting for me, and I personally put a MB (Black/Steel) under it for my husband. I suspect there are a few accessories scattered under it as well. Oddly enough, this year we didn't buy anything for our kids in TB this year. Our oldest loves TB and has several items. My younger two have somehow managed to remain uninfected by TBAS. It's only a matter of time, though. It WILL happen eventually!

We were coming over to my my brother's for Christmas, and my sister called and asked if we could bring over the Keurig, as the one there was not working. We no longer have a Keurig - I really like making coffee in a French Press.

I thought, what's the best way to bring over my coffee grinder, container with coffee beans, two individual serving size (12 oz) French Presses, and two extra carafes (I should get a larger French press), and it was clear -- the Moveable Feast! :)

My packing cube backpack (wasabi), Makers bag (navi-sabi), travel tray (zest), and YSS (wasabi) patiently waiting to take me back to the Dallas in-laws after a side trip to the Houston in-laws.

Sadly I now know what all those pockets in the Makers bag are for: water bottles, sinus meds, pain meds, stomach meds, sunglasses, granola bars, saline, external phone battery, star wars figures, band-aids, tissues, hand lotion, ipad, iphone, photographs, travel documents and books for a family of three who got colds and food poisoning on vacation. And there was still room in the middle for a travel tray full of hats and scarves. (I thought Texas was supposed to be warm!!!!)

Whee! One of my TB orders arrived here today. Not the big bag order, but the smaller bags, yes :)

The Steel Dyneema is darker/blacker than I expected for some reason, was thinking greyer than it is in real life. Still, it works for contrast purposes with the Zest interior of the big bag when it finally gets here :) The Olive of the 3D Fabric Organiser Cube is very olive and reminds me of my time in the military.

And cheers for the postcard art :)

I like using the PP as a work ID pouch. And when I need to run down and grab food, I stick my ATM card in the PP and am good to go. So i decided to make a lanyard for it with an O-ring before spending the rest of my weekend on work. Plastic lace makes me very nostalgic for my childhood! This colour scheme should sorta match most of my PPs.

Recent arrivals, uncertain if this is 'azure' or some other variant of teal/turquoise/kingfisher blue-greens :) It's the large clear organiser pouch teamed up with a wasabi double-carabiner and an iberian medium yarn stuff sack to a TB handle loop.

@Kshni, that large clear organizer pouch is indeed Azure. It's difficult to photograph well, and tends to look more like turquoise on the product page photos. Here's another example of an Azure 3D Clear Organizer Cube that was the subject of @ladyinblack's Color question--on the blog today (http://forums.tombihn.com/questions-about-bags/10338-color-question-blog-today.html) thread:

I think you're the first person to have noticed that. :) I'm glad you like the remodel! I think one of my favorite things so far has been seeing how many people use the bin of Legos. It's fun to see what people build.

On our to-do list is setting up the coffee/tea area, so maybe next time you come by you'll be able to enjoy a nice warm cup of something should you be so inclined. Side note: I've figured out a gluten-free, vegan, and nut-free cookie recipe that's actually good. I know that might sound impossible, but I've shared these cookies with non-vegan gluten-loving friends who routinely tease me about my vegan/gluten-freeness and even they agree they're good!

(For those who don't know what I'm talking about: we want to offer home baked cookies and bars from time-to-time in the showroom, and learned thanks to giantsteve that recipes w/nuts wouldn't be a good option (http://forums.tombihn.com/general-bag-discussion/9964-heads-up-seattle-factory-showroom-closed-remodel-4.html#50), so we've been working on alternatives.)

My Verde/Northwest Sky Makers Bag
14494
14493
14495

List of contents clockwise from water bottle:

Klean Kanteen 27 oz, markers, hand lotion, coloring book, Midori Passport Notebook, Knitting notion tin, mini sock DPN roll, Traveler Tray with shawl and 2 skeins of yarn + pattern, another notion tin, small book, pencil pouch, Q-kit with tape measure and needle kit, On bag flap- small multi-tool, keys, Gauge tool, tiny scissors, medium size hardback book, Tool/Pen wrap, knitting pattern book, white travel watercolors, stuff sack with pair of socks in progress, Small Double Organizer Pouch with ID, money, medium notebook.

The tool/pen wrap has a Lamy Logo, Pentel Graphite pencil, and a Pilot Prera in it. The Lamy Logo fits nicely as does the pencil. Anything fatter gets awkward. I tried a Lamy Safari in it and the cap doesn't want to slip in and when you remove the pen the cap comes off. So, this wrap is better suited for slim pens, and other tools as others have reported.

The light wasn't ideal today, but the first two pictures are pretty representative of the color of the bag, though it can appear brighter, and deeper depending on the light. It's a beautiful color.

I wouldn't normally pack my bag to such a bloated level unless I was going somewhere where I'd be stationary rather than walking around, but it has a large capacity and I like how the back pocket keeps books/notebooks safe. That was a feature sorely lacking on the Swift, and now I can be hands free which was my #1 beef. (Still love my swift, just not built for shoulder bags.) I haven't optimally configured the bag, or assigned permanent homes for anything yet, still need to test drive and see what makes sense. :D

So, these arrived today.

The Yeoman is huge and will definitely hold those two skirts. Camera I-O, somehow smaller than I was imagining, but it's more than enough to hold my two lenses, flash, and camera body. Maker's Bag is lovely, the NW Sky is lighter and easier to work with inside the bag's body; also just realised the big pocket in the back has two zips to open in either direction. The Iberian Packing Cube Shoulder Bag is huge, but will come in handy. The black Synapse 19 with the UV interior now has me with a 'hmm!' because I almost think I like it more than the French Blue/Steel S19 that I also bought. Don't know. The black medium Café Bag is for more formal situations where my Burnt Orange might be too 'loud' for work or whatever.

14509

I'm still in love with the Zest and Island shopping bags and I used the larger one to bring home a meal. Easily fit the 2pint bottle of milk, the French stick, the two pasties and the two cinnamon swirls. I did have to carry the bag like a handbag though, I'm just that bit too short to carry a loaded shop bag at my side. It did keep the milk and French stick in great shape all the way home on the train. Grateful for the padded handles.

14512

No picture of the shop bag getting used as a shopping bag, but this picture has the Aeronaut 45 (black/zest) that arrived with the shop bags. I'd also dumped several other bags that arrived with the bigger bags inside the A45 to facilitate getting it all put away.

There were mentions in another post about size comparisons. I did a few shots, but perhaps could do better when we have more sunshine.

The Aeronaut 45 (A45) is on the left, with an azure Snake Charmer, next to an azure 3D Organiser Cube (3-1-1); moving on to the right is a wasabi size 3 Travel Stuff Sack ('TSS') and atop it is a size 2 ultraviolet TSS. My Forest/UV NFTD finally made it out of the house (together with my Steel dyneema/Steel S19!). This is a very roomy bag--I squashed 2 medium-sized bags of muesli in a side pocket and clothes (2 dress pants and 2 cotton polos), a hardcover book, *and* a folded-up ballistic LS into the main compartment. The First Aid Kit also fits the side pocket with lots of room to spare. I hand-carried this bag without the absolute strap.

Here it is with one of my favorite shoes-- an old-school pair of Grinders from back when they were made in the UK-- under the seat on Tiger Air. As someone who has always been bothered by having to put my backpack front-down under the seat, I'm glad to have a bag that can be stowed away so neatly. It's very compact and nondescript and I almost wished I travelled more so that I could use it as a travel bag more often. I think it really shines in this capacity.

I appreciate you posting these comparisons! I have been curious about the Snake Charmer but always imagined it as a slightly longer version of the 3DCOC. It looks like it is more comparable to the CQPC though! And it's helpful to see how big the Q-kit is, too.

That was indeed Steel Dyneema!

Yes, her friends didn't quite understand why I was asking if could get a picture of our Synapses for the forums! ;)

It's really interesting how our subconscious processes what is around us. I got a cup of coffee and was walking to the gate to catch my train. I wasn't a hurry, but I also wasn't really looking around, just making my way to the gate where I would catch my train. And the Synapse registered with me as I was walking by.

This was me and my steel/solar dyneema Synapse 19! The exchange with my friends (not pictured, though they were very confused) went like this:

"So, you didn't know that guy?"

"No, we have the same backpack."

"And there's a forum?"

"Yeah, the bags have an online forum."

"And what do people do on the backpack forum?"

"It's not just backpacks. I have a knitting bag and a travel bag, and a couple other everyday bags from Tom Bihn too, and then there are accessories and compartment bags too. And the people on the forums post how they use them and take pictures--it's really helpful."

"The internet is truly amazing."

I'm traveling to Florida later this week for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary and since it's a pretty hectic week, I did most of my packing today.

Here's a photo of my new Aubergine/Zest A30 waiting to be packed and being admired by a kitty:

What is the item in the far lower right corner that is purple/lavendar with white?

I've noticed KC has been getting some pretty chilly temps (and occasionally some snow?) I bet you'll be glad to get to a warmer climate for awhile. Ours has been sooo very unseasonal that I would love, love to see some snow.

I am drowning in Tom Bihn goodness right now. Some observations and questions.

The Freudian Slip for my Small Cafe Bag EXACTLY fits my rail pass, which is high on the list of things I should not lose next month. I am SO excited about these new FS's. I think they make everything so much more usable and organized.

14585

Will the Small Cafe Bag be small enough to get me past the unforgiving eyes of German museum guards?

(Since I haven't actually been to Germany yet, I'm extrapolating from my prior experiences with Swiss and Israeli museum guards. The one thing I've learned so far in my travels is that museum guards of any nationality do not seem happy about us bag-toting tourists.)

14587

And finally: Is navy or grey a better color to blend in with the chic Europeans? Not that the rest of me will be in any way chic...

There's a reason for that! I work at a museum and it's amazing how many people aren't very aware of their surroundings and will brush by/bump artworks. (Not saying that the noble band of Tom Bihnites would ever behave so poorly!) Although mostly it's people taking pictures-- whether selfies or otherwise. I've witnessed, and called out, some truly clueless people posing in front of very paintings while their bags touch the art.

And then there's the old joke that sculpture's the stuff you bump into when you're backing up to look at a painting...

PS, a lot of museums do not allow backpacks, especially because people back into things, so if possible take a shoulder bag instead to avoid long lines at the coat check.

bchaplin
02-22-2016, 04:00 PM
Very good points!

The Small Cafe Bag is a shoulder bag. 10 1/2 by 8 inches. Do you think it will be allowed in most museums?

I have been assuming for a long time that I would take something that is slightly larger (the medium-sized version of the same shoulder bag, 12 x 10 1/2 inches). But now I'm thinking smaller will be better.

turnleftbrighteyes
02-22-2016, 04:11 PM
A Small Cafe bag shouldn't be a problem in any museum. Heck, even the Large Cafe bag would fly, at least at museums in New York. And in most places, as long as you're not burdened with a bunch of bags-- such as after a major shopping expedition-- the guards won't really care. It's really backpacks (any size), large stick umbrellas, and obvious luggage that they'll turn away in my experience.

I took a Night Flight to Tate Britain recently and no one batted an eye. The Night Flight is on the boxier side, so I was slightly afraid I'd have to check it, but really no guard looked twice.

@bchaplin, I understand your desire to blend in! How would you 'accessorise' your cafe bag--i.e., what else would you wear? As a chiche often-in-black city dresser, I could see your grey cafe bag working nicely with all black clothing and outerwear plus a patterned scarf that includes some grey--maybe black, white & grey, maybe greys with colour. (In a cooler climate, I often wear a silk scarf that can do double duty, moving from outside to inside, adding both colour and thermoregulatory flexibility.)

Back from a trip to Rome with my DLBP! That backpack is just so awesome. I usually get shoulder pain after a while, but the DLBP is so light with only the essentials in it that I was more or less fine. It's never too big and at the same time there's so much room - I could even do the grocery shopping in the evenings without a problem. I'm never going to give it away now that I know how awesome it is, both in everyday life and on trips. This is definitely my favourite backpack of all time.

Ostia Antica is super lovely! I was able to get a small group tour from an ex-pat (a retired academic who studied Italian art history), married to an Italian artist. He was actually showing his work at the time of our visit so we were able to have a private showing with him as well. It was one of my favorite days in Italy. I totally get what you mean about having pictures of your back to show off the backpack! Of course, I only post as long as my backside looks good. LOL.

Just realized that I never shared the pictures of my Pilot on the Google Campus (or one of them) when I got to go there for work in December. Back then my Swift used to be the day to day work bag but wanted the more organized and contained Pilot for being in workshops and meetings away from my office.

Luckily my coworker was writing some emails during that time so I didn't have to explain why I was taking photos of my bag ;).

bchaplin neither navy nor grey will look in any way out of place over here. I personaly think that grey is more "chic" and navy is more "sporty" but you will find both styles mixed everywhere that is open to the public.
I am pritty sure the only way you will be spottet as not German is when you talk. And somehow we do like tourists. They always seem to bring a bit of fresh air with them and we get to use our English.

Perhaps you were as surprised as I was by how flimsy the German rail pass is? I was terrified that I would lose it or get it wet or make some other irredeemable error.

I was asked to check my Patagonia Atom, probably because it's more backpack-like than purse-like. But the German bag lockers were quite nice in the museums we visited. I felt just fine about leaving my bag in them - probably safer than carrying it through the streets. They were all self-service and free.

As for color, I'd go with whatever matches my wardrobe best. Except for the proliferation of scarves and man-satchels, Germans looked like Americans to me. Or maybe I was only noticing the tourists? I have no idea. My parents went to Italy last year and their guide told them she identified Americans by their North Face puffy jackets. I think an SCB in any color would fly under that radar.

Thanks, skipper. I'm off somewhere in a fortnight's time and it'll be my first time to try the Ristretto as my personal carry-on too. I'm currently thinking whether to keep on using my roller or get (e.g.) a Synapse instead for better mobility. On all previous trips, I wheeled around a 15-inch MacBook Pro but this time - with a Ristretto plus tablet/keyboard and possibly a Synapse - it should hopefully be more enjoyable. I'll also try out the Ristretto when I get to my destination.

I have been assuming for a long time that I would take something that is slightly larger (the medium-sized version of the same shoulder bag, 12 x 10 1/2 inches). But now I'm thinking smaller will be better.

I carry my MCB into the likes of the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum and pretty much everywhere else with no problems.

I have a leather crossbody bag which is roughly the size of the MCB. It's not rigid so it collapses somewhat when it's not full. I was allowed to keep it on me in museums here in Berlin under the condition that I carry it in front of me. I think the SCB would be fine.

I have to say that I am loving the Smart Alec more than I expected to (in the past, I have not been a backpack girl). And I recently switched my gym bag to the Night Flight and it's working perfectly.

I am waiting ever so patiently for the SA to come in a preferred color combo. And will now be holding out for Halcyon. I really want one for our road trip, but waiting has also been a little fun in a sick sort of way.

Heading back to Santa Barbara with a SSB filled with my non-TB vice. I've never been good at making a Chai tea concentrate so I buy the boxed variety. I haven't been able to find my favorite brand in SB so I'm stocking up! There are 8 cartons in there and I'm so grateful for the padded handles! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160311/68bdebcb125a4cd16fc9d4af60c23edd.jpg

I do think that kitty would look beautiful next to just about any TB bag. ;-)

I had a long haired kitty about that color when I was younger and she later lived with my mother when I moved away. She didn't have the most pleasant personality, but she spent quite a bit of time outside during the day and did have her times when she could be a sweet cat.

Well, looking around my hospital room, I realize that I could be the poster child for Tom Bihn. In it there are two Maker's Bags, one MBFS, a travel tray, an old style Ristretto (iPad sized), and a Packing Cube Shoulder Bag (in Nordic). I had to capture one photo, though.

I'm knitting a Fisherman's sweater for my son. Today is the first day I could attempt to pick it up. It is sweet therapy to me. I'm being treated for pulmonary embolisms in each lung. To say I am thankful to still be here is an understatement. I'm so happy and thankful!

And this is my "purse", somehow my personal stuff always outweights and outspaces my clothes and such:

I'm so sorry you're in the hospital. It looks like you are well prepared for your (hopefully brief) stay. That is beautiful cable work, although I hope your son doesn't also live in Florida since he wouldn't be able to wear it as much as it will deserve to be worn. I use a travel tray for my knitting as well - it's a wonderful travel yarn bowl/project bag (mine is right behind me, stuffed to the gills with a shawl). I suggest you not share your exact whereabouts with the forum (did you say Nordic?)

Get well soon and enjoy your knitting time!

@prairiegl, This is not @Mausermama, but this year the makers of the Sirka counter advertised over on Ravelry that if people placed orders on the Sirka web site (https://www.grellowgray.com/) between December 11 and December 13, they would be able specify custom colors for the hands on the counter and for the Bento box container for the device:

Not usually … but coming up, on December 11 through 13 only, you’ll have the opportunity to order a gift set in custom colors, so you could choose the red, orange, yellow counter (which I call “Fire”) and a bento box in the color of your choice. Details here (http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/grellow--gray/3314899/1-25#1) and here (http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/grellow--gray/3289645/1-25#1).

(The links are to Ravelry forum group threads, so you won't be able to go there unless you have a login on Ravelry. The Ravelry post (http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/tom-bihn-knitting-bags/3327739/51-75#71) I quoted appeared on December 1, 2015 in the middle of a thread titled "Finally here… the Maker's Bag" where people were discussing items they planned on putting into the Maker's Bag, and the poster was the person who would be making up said custom Sirka counter color combinations before Christmas. Normally, you can purchase Sirka counters here (https://www.grellowgray.com) in either the "Bird Colorway" (Yellow, Grey, and Seafoam hands on the counter; yellow lid on the Bento box) or the "Dolphin Colorway" (Seafoam, Grey, and Purple hands on the counter; Seafoam lid on the Bento box). There's also a "Rainbow" 2 counter set with red, orange, and yellow counter hands with red lid, plus seafoam, blue, and purple hands with purple lid).

Anyway, this was a 1-shot time period when you could put in a custom order where you could mix and match your Sirka colors! I assume that @Mausermama took advantage of the custom order period.

Yep. He'll be heading to Stetson University, which is actually south of us. But the kid loves all things winter and specifically requested a heavy, Fisherman's sweater. I reminded him that he would likely only get to wear it once or twice a year, but that didn't dissuade him one iota. sigh. At least he'll likely be able to enjoy it the rest of his life!

I love those Travel Trays. Our entire family loves them! I believe we've got one (so far) in Iberian, UV, Steel, Wasabi, and the elusive and lovely Nordic. I've also gifted a Zest one my sister. If she ever decides she doesn't like it, I will personally fly out to Colorado and pick it up and care for it like it deserves. Sadly, I don't think that's going to be an issue. She's preparing to head to Haiti tomorrow, and I know the Travel Tray was one of the first things she reached for!

Grellow and Gray (https://www.grellowgray.com/) was, for a time, offering custom made Sirkas. I ordered it during that period of time. I'm not sure if she will ever do it again, and I didn't want to miss the opportunity. I chose the purple specifically to coordinate with my "yarn bowl" Travel Tray. I have one other one in a different colorway that I also use and love, but this one is my favorite.

You're absolutely correct. I bought it and selected a Bento box in the purple colorway to coordinate with my MB and yarn bowl, a.k.a. U/V Travel Tray. The other Sirka that I own is the Dolphin. I love it, but I don't care for the seafoam Bento box quite as much.

It can be his winter coat! As a teenager in the late 1980s, I co-opted the fisherman's sweater that my mom knit for my dad in the late 1960s. It was heavy and huge on me and only suited for the coldest days in south Louisiana but I loved wearing it. My dad still has the sweater, though he rarely wears it because it's so heavy. @mausermama, get well soon! Hoping that in the meantime you get plenty of tender loving care from family and friends!

I started my first TB enhanced trip today! For 8-nights (Hong Kong and Taiwan), I managed to miraculously (for a habitual over packer like me) squeeze everything down into my new Aeronaut 45 and Ristretto. It's the first time I've done one bag (plus personal item) for a long haul trip and it feels great to walk around free without pulling a set of wheels.

I was meant to wake up at 4am this morning to catch my early morning flight (London to Paris followed by Amman, Bangkok and finally arriving tomorrow in Hong Kong about 30 hours after I stepped out of my front door) but I was still packing until an hour before. I love the travel stuff sacks! They proved to be so versatile in squeezing down items into odd spaces in the Aeronaut. Definitely more of them for my wish list. And maybe a Pilot (rather than the current Ristretto) for just that tiny bit more out of the personal item permitted dimensions.

Currently waiting in Amman for the next leg. Visible in the picture:

3D Clear Organizer Cube
Aeronaut 45
Packing Cube Shoulder Bag (packed and ready with comfort items for the next flight)
Ristretto
Shop Bag
Snake Charmer (it swallowed all my cables, chargers and adapters with ease and still has room to spare!)

@Pokilani,
This picture is a couple of months old, but the flavors and combinations are pretty unique to Hawaii. The place is Frost City in Honolulu, and the combination was Matcha Green Tea/Chocolate (might have been Haupia Chocolate), along with the fresh fruit and Pirouette wafer (in front of my Little Swift in Hemp).

Quest success for either a Navy or Aubergine Imago...I swapped my Cardinal/Hemp/Steel Imago for an Aubergine/Hemp/Steel Imago. It arrived today and I'm beyond happy with it. As discussed on Ravelry, this is definitely a CDH* bag for me!!

Oh my goodness, I didn't recognise the image, but just reading that post made me get the theme song stuck in my head "Miffy, cute little bunny. Miffy, sweet little bunny. Miffy... And friends!" I had no idea Miffy was Dutch.

There are several references to this phrase in popular culture. Here's one that came out of the U.S. At one time, the National Rifle Association distributed bumper stickers that read "I'll give you my gun, when you pry it out of my cold, dead hands." It has come to mean items that the owner is unwilling to part with for any reason -- since prying it out of his or her cold, dead hands is the only way that you're likely to get it.

Hope this helps,

DeBru and moriond FTW (For The Win...couldn't resist!). CDH was recently used by adalangdon on Ravelry when she posted about her ultrasuede Little Swift. I found it a fitting description for my rehomed Imago as it was such an elusive bag!

Hello, all!

I have been lurking on the forums for a couple months, reading all over and trying to find the right bag for me and my current occupation. It turns out, I think the Synapse 25 is the one! The Tom Bihn Crew were awesome enough to specifically find a Black Synapse 25 with the lovely UV Halcyon, and it looks AMAZING (thanks, Ms. Cyndi!). I couldn't be happier, and now I'm even looking to purchase a Daylight Backpack or Maker's Bag with more accessories! Thanks a bunch!

My sweet friend took this photo of me this past weekend. We went to Ravine Gardens State Park. I would like to say we had some fabulous hiking, but I'd be lying. My lungs aren't quite up to it yet. But, we did have some fabulous "walking around" and some lovely spindling. My Daylight Backpack carried everything I needed for the day, including an aluminum water bottle, knitting project, two spinning projects, and purse supplies! It is a superior bag!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160328/d2dc062e445560896119f8ed89cc7d23.jpg

Zest is definitely my favourite shopping bag. I always have it tucked inside my EDC to pull out as needed. On a visit to Protestors Falls, near Byron Bay, it was perfect with my arms through the handles to use as an impromptu backpack for daughter's ipod, towel for drying feet after crossing the causeway and a waterbottle. Light enough that I was barely aware I was carrying it and easy to access each item as soon as it was needed.14907

The second image is MCB, zest SSB and Aubergine swift (EDC) enjoying some time at the beach. The ocean is lovely and warm, the waves fun and so many dolphins swimming by!

My first-ever post after years of lurking, and it features.... breastmilk! I currently use my indigo/steel Synapse 19 (purchased early 2011, when it was the only Synapse) to carry my breastpump stuff to work. So it is my EDC these days too. I am seriously considering moving to a Night Flight though since I like the idea of having everything laid out in front of me instead of stacked up in a backpack. But I'm not absolutely in LOVE with the available colors at the moment, so maybe I'll wait. Plus my wallet is worried about all the Tom Bihn I've been eyeing covetously. I love this forum and I'm happy to have finally joined!

And my baby says thank you for helping me transport the liquid gold!

My Swift with one of our trolley bags.

Is that a legal documents case with wheels ? If so, it's the first time I've seen one! We only have floating around the office a shared stock of boxy, bulky and unwieldy docs cases which are carried by hand - something like this:

https://img1.etsystatic.com/024/1/5341269/il_570xN.484465647_9ulo.jpg

As a trainee a long time ago, I have "happy" memories of schlepping around town in the midst of a hot Greek summer, suited up and struggling with one of these heavy cases stuffed full of documents for signing. I would not want to do that in Singapore!

That's correct, and I'm surprised, because it's a very common sight around here! But maybe it's just a litigation thing, because I did spend a month in a corporate department and never saw them being used. (I know someone who can stack two of these bags on top of each other and transport both at once -- like, seriously?!)

Right now we are in the middle of a trial, so that schlepping of bundles of heavy documents in suits is happening everyday. And yes, the heat is killer-- even waiting 10 min for the firm car to arrive can get pretty nasty :-(

I thought I would share pics of my new A30, along with northwest sky packing cubes & a travel tray I had previously. Totally love the aubergine/sitka. I did a closeup as best I could on the travel tray and sitka forum gift (THANK YOU!) so folk can see the colors together, as that was one thing I was wondering about before ordering. My lighting isn't great, but ah well. Here's hoping the folk at TB will soon make some sitka stuff sacks! I just also ordered an ultraviolet laundry sack & size 2 uv stuff sack (to stuff a down vest into). Ready for all the travel now! :) (Scandinavia this summer for two weeks, woo hoo! and of course lots of Oregon/Washington weekend trips to come.) The little "enjoy your trip" note on the card from Tom was a very nice touch!

@terayon, Puerto Vallerta, Mexico is one of the sites that I associate with the Monarch Butterfly migrations (http://www.puertovallarta.net/fast_facts/monarch-butterfly-migration-mexico.php) Admittedly, this is the wrong time of year for Monarch Butterflies to seek warmer climes in Mexico (and parts of Southern California), but don't you think you should have shown one of your Monarch pouches there, too? My new pretties arrived this morning.

Shop bags, small Zest, large Monarch (which looks like tomato red to me, even in sunlight), large Sitka (makes me think of some of the green cars here, it's not quite British Racing Green, perhaps 'green teal' or malachite might describe it), small Fjord (to me, it's a stormcloud blue-blue-grey), and large Island.

14973

Small A45 Aether Violet packing cube (I also got the end pocket Aether A45 Violet packing cube), with an Aubergine small Q-Kit and a Navy(?) mini Q-Kit; this was part of my order that came in this morning.

14971

And another examination of the purples, Aether Violet, Aubergine, and Ultraviolet (size 1 travel stuff sack).

14972

I have fallen in love with the shop bags, I stuff the larger inside the smaller and then tuck them into my S19 for days out or when I expect to do some shopping. I've also used them for carting groceries, they're a million times more comfortable than plastic carrier bags and I know the SHOP BAGS will never tear under an average load of groceries. I also like that they'll keep the milk or juice cartons upright. I feel like their bright and cheerful colours help brighten people's response at the checkout. It also means I can retire many of the grocery store shopping bags that I've never been 100% thrilled with using.

Old dog with a new Skookum friend:

I'm so glad you got one of the last (or maybe the very last) Skookum Dog Bat! We're totally sold out now, and they probably won't return. (Maybe we should do a blog post w/photos of all of the other stuffed dog toy designs we came up with but didn't make....)

First the Glowire, now the Skookum Bat! I can't believe my incredibly good timing and good fortune! Maybe I should go get a Power Ball ticket while my luck holds.

The bat was on my wish list and I was just waiting for the debut. Sable's an old, small Sheltie so the bat is more pillow than toy, but it's a win as she's had her snoozing head on it all day.

So many TB items, so little Paypal! :) I'm sure my family thinks I have more than enough TB for everyone, but I did love the looks of the Bat. I always thought I'd get it one of these days. Ah well, glad I got our fluffy friend his very own TB leash. Thanks, threeteez, for sharing that sweet pic of Sable and her new friend!!

This is beautiful! I finally ordered the bat for Gracie, but she will have to wait until we return to Madison. Your pup looks so sweet!

Wow! Looks like I got it just in time! To glad Gracie will have something TB. She's still waiting patiently for her own travel bag. 16.5x10x10 with a top and side opening will be perfect. And a pocket for the other side too. [emoji252][emoji252]

It's here. It mostly fits at loosest setting. Will wear it for a few hours before deciding to cut the tags off.

I mentioned this in another thread, but Sitka -- to me -- is a beautiful shade of green! (The mini-organizer) I received my FJN today and will start pondering integrating some of my garden journaling over to it soon. I didn't get the watercolor postcard; I wonder if they ran out of those?

Did you try checking the front zippered pocket of the Field Journal Notebook for the postcards? The only thing is: although they stamped it, it feels difficult to send it back.

I did not think of looking there -- the postcard is in the zippered pocket. Thank you for mentioning they might have put it there. The other card (that they sent to send a note back to them) -- was just loose in the box with the TB products.

The WF and DLBC getting ready to go to MI with the honey. The A30, DLBP, and LSB headed for South Orange County. In case you're wondering, yes, it is difficult to let the Nordic WF travel without me. It's the second time I've allowed my partner to take my "blue" bag.

A bit more photo spam of my gorgeous new Aubersky Swift! This is pretty much how I intend to use it - to collect small things and other smaller bags into a single, easy-to-carry item for schlepping around on road trips and stuff.

First, my little pile of acquisitions from today - Aubersky Swift, Steel/UV Side Effect (with custom cord pulls) and Aubergine Knitting Tool Pouch to hold the wired shutter remote for my camera. It's not terribly obvious in the photo, but the Swift is also tricked out with custom cord pulls on the interior zipper pulls (death to the jingle!) plus a UV keystrap:

Northwest Sky interior, with keystrap and custom cord pulls. The Swift is CAVERNOUS:

Marsupial Style - holding the Sprout as mini camera backpack, and Side Effect as Purse-Like Object:

The above plus my small camera tripod in tripod bag:

Bonus teaser photo of the Aubergine/Steel Sprout with custom cord pulls - this contains the Tenba BYOB 7 camera insert, and Sprout-as-camera-backpack photos are coming soon!

Oh my, such wonderful Aubergine and gray spam, Meglet!! It put me right over the edge, had to order against my best resistance to one more bag...even envisioning how my small shop bag in NWS might nest inside this Swift for bottle holding goodness. The size measurements make it look possible, anyone tried this?

This morning during my bible study, I had one of my four kitties come keep me company. He seemed very interested in my FJN. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160407/c9b2fa7c2389dfbe384da6fdfb9c88bd.jpg

I couldn't resist getting a close up of him before I evicted him. He's our latest rescue and such a sweet toddler! My daughter named him Lupine.

Thank you. All of our kitties are rescues. He is a true joy. He loves to play and cuddle and talk. Our entire family is smitten with him.
