Tomorrow I leave for Seattle for a Nordic Mitten knitting conference (how geeky does knitting get). I plan to stop at the Tom Bihn store on the way from the airport, carrying my WF and copilot (packing lists to follow). I am even more excited about actually going to the store than I am about the three day conference. Woohoo!!! Meeting Katy et al. Aren't you jealous???

I...wasn't aware there were different types of mittens, but the conference sounds fun! And count me in the jealous lot. *sigh*

Yup! Almost today! Wahoo! My plane lands at noon and my ride has said we can stop at TB on the wayfrom the airport. Watch out for funky fuschia glasses and grey hair and a BIG smile!

Count me 'in' on the jealous band wagon. You will just have to post on the visit so we can live vicariously through your experience.

Safe travels.

So security in Vancouver had to check my copilot because of the kajillion knitting needles therein. I have to have 4 mitten cuffs done by tomorrow am. I started in the calgary airport and so far have 1 1/2 done. Think I'll make it?

It wouldn't include any salad would it? Because that would be sudden.

No, see. If it was dinner at Katy's house, it would be Obsessively Premeditated SALAD.

Update: my b&b hostess picked me up at the airport and took me directly to TB. I met the amazing Katy had a factory tour and indulged in some accessories -packing cubes for the wf, travel tray -way more awesome in actuality than in pics, and a small azalea organizer pouch. I could have bought WAY more but then i would have had to buy another bag to carry it in. Wish I'd spent longer and spent more! Then Marcia took me to ex officio where i did more damage and then to a great fabic store (Nancy's sewing basket).

Btw Katy, the yarn sellers are open 8:30 -5 Friday and saturday and they are going to have a mitten display too.

And how awesome is it that i am staying only a few blocks from Katy's place??

Noted! Perhaps I'll take a walk later this afternoon and head up there!

We're totally neighbors! Only for a short time, sadly :(. There's a great brunch spot right near my place called Portage Bay Cafe. I highly recommend it! It gets pretty busy during weekends but it is totally worth the wait. It's my second favorite brunch spot in the city.

Sooo... I am back from Seattle-Victoria-Vancouver and finally put together my packing list.

Reminder to self: travelling with a half empty bag can be VERY bad for the budget!

On my recent trip to Seattle my WF contained:
2 pr pants
4 underwear
1 set pjs
3 tops
3 balls sport weight wool
soap and toiletries
1 pr shoes

From Seattle to Victoria on the Victoria Clipper (great way to go btw – saw 2 pods of Orcas, dolphins, seals, sea lions and birds):
3 pr pants
4 ex officio tops including a hoodie
5 other tops
1 cardi
pjs
4 underwear
5 4oz skeins wool
1 pr shoes
several partially completed mittens

I also took my copilot which made a great day bag for the knitting conference. Both the travel tray and the 2 sided cube were very handy for projects, needles and patterns. The copilot also went from being about half empty to being STUFFED for the Seattle-Victoria leg of the trip.

For the knitterly among you the Nordic Knitting Conference in Seattle was terrific – great organization, excellent teachers and interesting sessions. I only wish I could have cloned myself so I could have gone to more! I booked a room nearby through Airbnb and that was also excellent.
