Need some good daypack selection advice

Thanks for letting us know. It's good to have a general idea of when it will (or won't) be available when I'm planning future purchases.

Since it's not out anytime soon there's plenty of time for me to begin convincing myself that I "need" it!

Honestly, this new bag is coming out of left field. I had no idea. I thought I was done buying backpacks. I don't need it, so I don't want to want it.

Agreed...like to get some sort of confirmation from Darcy? Is this a real product?

There's likely to be a new backpack between the size of the Smart Alec and Brain Bag in January/February 2010. Maybe sooner.

Is there any update on the new backpack between the size of the SA and the BB? Sounds like something which could be perfect for me.

The osprey backpacks are perfect while waiting for the smaller brainbag. The focus and flux have lots of small pockets, water pocket and hold my computer, all my gear, and clothes as well. They come in small (for women or children) and larger for men. I have the small focus which holds 1600 cu inches while the flux runs 1400-1500 and the large focus 1800. I have an Osprey. I've been using mine while waiting for the Synapse. It's close to perfect in terms of what I like in a backpack- it fits my small frame, has good organization, a place for my notebook, water bottle pocket etc. For whatever reason it's just not as comfortable as most of my TB bags. I don't have a TB backpack yet that I use. The brain bag is way too big for me and the old Buzz just isn't built for my body. And yet they're comfortable in a way the Osprey isn't.

I went back to re-read this thread and it looked like there was a bag in design that would bridge (in size) the Smart Alec and the Brain Bag. For me, the SA is a bit too small and the BB a bit too big. Anyone have any clues as to whether a middle bag is still in development as planned? Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks all!

I was hoping that the Synapse would be in my strike zone, but weighing in at 1100 Cu In, I am thinking it would be a little too small. Bummer.

Hey Darcy,
Do you have a clue as to whether this smaller brain bag will fit brain cells, or possibly have a sleeve for laptops?

I'm not sure yet: it should probably fit at least the Size 5 Brain Cell and the Size 6 Vertical Soft Cell It won't have a built-in sleeve for laptops.
