    A moment of silence

. . . for my iPad Ristretto, which was stolen (along with my iPad) after I left it in a cafe yesterday. It served me faithfully for more than five years, and I will miss it greatly.

Sorry to hear this, @Blackeagle. IIRC, you had the Cocoa/Olive iPad Ristretto that is the same color combination that Macworld (among others) reviewed. (Note: I still have this bag.)

I know that it's not really consolation, but @Astrid just posted recently under the Just for Resgistered Users forums about how her Ristretto (with contents) was stolen, and how the thief, while running away (chased by others), dumped out her laptop, wallet, phone, and other items, but kept the bag!

      I'm so sorry!
Any chance that you enabled the "Find my phone" feature on your iPad? Then you'd be able to track its location the next time it connects to the internet, and hopefully find the ristretto as well.
(And of course, let the police recover it rather than putting yourself in danger.)

I do, but it seem the thief either turned off the wifi/cellular or just turned off the entire iPad soon after he stole it.

Given that I also have the activation lock turned on (so it can't be wiped and set up as a new iPad) stealing the iPad isn't going to do him much good. He could sell it for parts, I guess, but not much else.

So sorry! That is terrible. And yikes, I can't believe this happened to two members in one month

Of course -- smart thieves. Well, maybe keep watching for a bit before you wipe the device remotely. If they try to sell it to someone it will eventually be connected to the internet. I haven't had to try this myself, but you can apparently make a message of your choosing appear as well as tracking the iPad's location.

So sorry to hear about the theft - I feel your pain. If you are going to replace the bag, keep an eye out on ebay - they come up from time to time.

Yeah. I'm trying to decide whether to replace my iPad with another iPad Air 2 or if I should upgrade to an iPad Pro. If I get the Pro I'll just get the current model Ristretto (which just came back in stock). If not, I'll hunt around on eBay for the iPad sized Ristretto like I had.

Very sorry to hear about the loss of your bag and Ipad. That's awful. I hate dishonesty and people who look for opportunities to steal. And yet these people would be very angry if someone stole from them.

This is a timely remind to keep an eye your purse or bag when in public. I bought a Qlipter last year when someone on the forum posted about them. It's quite large, so I haven't been using it. But I am thinking about getting it's little brother, the Qliplet, which I think would be more convenient to securing a bag to, say, a table.

Bummer news for sure. Sometimes I will clip my long key strap around a chair or table such that a quick-grabbing thief would be forced to drag a chair with them. I think the noise and surprise alone would be a handy deterrent to this kind of thing. It's quick and easy.
