Color and Fabric Options for Organizer Pouches

Darcy's recent post in another thread on Snake Charmer color options made me think about color and fabric combinations for organizer pouches.

In addition to the regular organizer pouches that were first announced in the forums and then later in the blog two years ago, we have Cork Organizer Pouches (first introduced to some of us in person in the small size) now available in a variety of sizes, Clear Organizer Pouches, and Padded Organizer Pouches.

I wanted to clear up some points on fabric/color combinations, because the regular pouches that I bought when they first came out were all of 500 denier Cordura. This is the fabric that is used for the Brain Cell, and the interior lining of bags such as the Empire Builder, Zephyr, ID Bag, Ego, Super Ego, Imago, Brain Bag, Ruck's Sac, and Cafe Bags. It's also the fabric used for accessories like the vertical and horizontal Freudian slips, and the Snake Charmer. For sample colors, see a recent blog post on Brain Cells. I prefer the 500 denier Cordura for most of my pouches because it has a finer/smoother texture that works better for small electronics and paper. The 1000 denier Cordura is the fabric that's used on the outside of bags like the Buzz, Utility Tote, Cordura Imagos, Cafe Bags, Brain Bags, and Ruck's Sac.

The padded organizer pouches are made of 500 denier Cordura, probably for the same reasons I mentioned above (finer texture might be more appropriate for small electronics). The regular and clear organizer pouches come in either 500 denier or 1000 denier Cordura. So if you really like plum (and there are some of use who do!), be aware that a pouch in that color will only be available in 1000 denier Cordura, now that the limited edition color fabrics of Spring 2007 are no longer available. (I would strongly support bringing back both the plum and periwinkle ripstop nylon if these fabrics ever become available again).

Anyway, be aware that there are two fabric options in the regular and clear pouches. The 1000 denier Cordura is fine for lots of uses -- change purses for coins, for example. I tend to use the 1000 denier Cordura more in the smaller size pouch versions. I just like to understand what the options are, and thought I would share.

P.S. I believe the pouches all use 1000 denier black Cordura for the outer piping; I'm talking about the main pouch material in this post.

I couldn't find the large organizer pouch available anywhere. Will it be reintroduced soon? IIRC, there was some talk about making it more letter-sized paper friendly (or maybe that was file-folder friendly).

Any word on the large pouch, either way?

See this thread on the Large Organizer Pouch. Per benvenuto's suggestion, we will probably make a new size to fit receipts, envelopes, letters, etc. And also a new Larger Organizer Pouch that fits A4 papers and 8 1/2 x 11 papers and file folders, as moriond requested. I'd expect to see these two new sizes in January.
Have a question? @Darcy (to make sure I see it)

Thanks, Darcy. Sounds like just what I've been wanting. Now to hope for them to be available in plum! (Cork would be spectacular, too.)

Any sign of larger organiser pouches? I'd love an A4 size one! (or half a dozen, in different colours!)

The Large Organizer Pouch is now available for pre-order (ships by late May) in Clear and Cordura.

                Large measures: 14.5" x 11.2" (370 x 285mm)

                Fits U.S. letter/file folder and A4 letter/file folder perfectly!

                    Hi Darcy,

Would you mind taking a picture of the new Clear Large Organizer Pouch with
some files or a ream of paper inside.

One of the new color as a background, let's say Pink, would be terrific.

                    Thanks in advance.

While we are talking pictures could you add a picture of the Strom/Steel and Pink/Black Swift.

Umm, Backpack? A ream of paper is 500 sheets. TB organizer pouches are miraculous containers, but that might be a little much, even for the new Large.
(Forgive the picky-ness? I'm a writer, so paper words are close to my heart!)

Drat - and I did my order yesterday!

Well, shall have to get some in January when I visit the store, then.

                          Hi Darcy,

There's no way to pre-order the clear version of the Large Organizer Pouch on the web -- only the regular Cordura organizer pouches show up with a drop-down menu option for large. (And falconea, I would also have liked to add this to my order just done the day before, but they shipped out already yesterday).

                            Weirdness! It's fixed now.
