Official Thread: The Hero's Journey
@autolycos, I'm not sure what you're looking at, but I think the picture you're referring to is at the left side of this (screen capture):
You're correct that the Hero's Journey Top Pocket for the Nordic/Black combination version of the HsJ is next to the White Lamp at the left. And that it looks like a Northwest Sky Halcyon prototype for the Sleeping Bag Stuff Sack next to it, although they used Aether for the release version.
I don't know any more about these details.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing all the pockets, compartments, and features of this bag. If I were going to be backpacking around Europe, I think this would be the perfect choice. I'm too old for that now, though. I don't think it will work for my own purposes any better than my current bags, including a nice lightweight Loka UL backpack from fstop gear for when I'll be hiking on a trip--which will mean I have my camera and tripod too. If I didn't already have that bag, the HsJ would look GREAT!Last edited by autolycus; 09-21-2016, 07:20 PM.Leave a comment:

Someone do me a favor... Take a look at 1:58 in the video with Maestro Tom talking about designing a bag. Pause it. Look at the work bench that's in front of Tom, frame left. At the farthest end is a black and Nordic bag. I assume it's either the main Hero's Journey or the top pocket. One spot closer is what looks like a very large northwest gray Halycon stuff sack. I thought it might be the sleeping bag stuff sack, but I double-checked, and that's going to be made in Aether rather than Halcyon.
So... what am I looking at?

Love, love, love the video: one of the nicest and most cosy, TB has produced.
Tom and the Crew are wonderful, as usual.
I think the Heros' Journey is an Aerosynapseguidepack with removable pockets including one which is a convertible to a carry on.
The contrast between this newest bag and earlier designs shows the evolution, growth, journey of Tom on design, in response to the changing need of users' need in EDC, specialty designs (accessories, shop/market bags, Swift) and luggage.
Love the peeking into the factory and showroom. I thought I was in the Holodeck and almost grabbed a Q-Kit.
The new Key Straps are as beautiful as they bright and useful.
Lately, I found myself in need of a couple of different bright Key Straps, to secure and retrieve, without worry, different but equally important items, in my EDC.
A maze of Black Key Straps and various lanyard is no longer cutting it.Leave a comment:

Yes, I agree with @Mausermama. Unfortunately I can only 'like' @gochicken's picture of the new keystraps with their 200d Halcyon counterparts once.

That's a new Key Strap in... Island! We’ve added a last-minute surprise to next Tuesday’s debut — new webbing Key Straps in colors dyed to match our 200d Halcyon colors: Iberian, Northwest Sky, Ultraviolet, Wasabi, and… Island! The mill we work with nailed the colors, and we’re very happy with how they turned out. Photos of each color and variety of new webbing Key Strap are up on the Key Strap page for viewing.
These keystraps obviously have variants in both length and snaphook/O-ring ends, but I thought having a picture of the colors (taken from the Product page images) -- the friends of the keystrap that @gochicken referred to -- would be nice. My comment (posted to Darcy) when I saw these was:
The colored keystraps are lovely; I feel as though I'd just received a set of hair ribbons for dressing up my bags. It looks as though you chose the colors to complement the current set of 200d Halcyon fabrics (including Island).
Thank you; everyone is going to love these.Last edited by moriond; 09-20-2016, 05:02 PM.Leave a comment:

Key Straps made out of our actual Halcyon 200d fabric are still available for the time being, but we don’t plan to make more because the new colors of webbing Key Straps will replace the Halcyon Key Straps. When the Halcyon Key Straps are gone, they’re gone for good.
And a minor but worthy heads-up: the Simple Shoulder Strap included with The Hero’s Journey (used when the Top Pack of The Hero’s Journey is unzipped from the main bag and carried as a shoulder bag) uses a lighter weight of webbing than the current Simple Shoulder Strap (otherwise it's the same), and we like that new webbing quite a lot — so much so that by Monday 09/26 all Simple Shoulder Straps will feature the new, lighter weight webbing. Those who place orders for the Simple Shoulder Strap after 12:30pm on Monday will receive the new version with lighter webbing, while orders placed between now and 12:30pm on Monday will get the current version of the Simple Shoulder Strap with the heavier webbing.Last edited by Darcy; 09-20-2016, 02:49 PM.Leave a comment:

Maybe it is a long lost relative of my Sapphire Keystrap... just now coming on the scene? Maybe it has friends?Leave a comment:
