You've got about seven and a half months, Tom. Get on it! I have no idea what I need in a diaper bag, but I do know you'll make exactly what I need. Any chance in hell of that happening or do I need to start making other plans? I don't think delaying the timeline for when I'll need it is feasible, so we'll have to come up with something. I want my kid's first bag to be a Tom Bihn!

Funny thing ellismc, my wife and I were talking about the TB diaper bag this past weekend. We're still holding out. The diaper bag we already have is OK, but It just doesn't suite our needs. It never really did. I even ordered an Eddie Bauer bag for $50 online last holiday season; but it was horrible. Didn't seem very well though out. Almost like they took a back pack and stuck a thermal pouch in it. We returned it to an Eddie Bauer store after the holiday's, and I brought a couple of shirts with the credit I received.
So we wait. Looking forward to seeing what TB has in store for our little one.
Actually now that he's 2 years old, we're hoping for a bag that can grow with him. He's almost out of diapers, and we bring "big boy" cups and not bottles with us. So a thermal area that can accommodate a sippy cup full of milk would be good.Using a: Super Ego (Black, Steel, Wasabi) with seat belt strip (Wasabi), and alternate reflective Strip. Black BrainCell, Wasabi Snake Charmer, Cork Small Organizer Pouch, and Olive green medium organizer pouch.

So, which would you guys prefer? Changing pad without washable fabric section or with?Have a question? @Darcy (to make sure I see it)

Good news about the progress. I just asked my wife which one she would like. She said, "it's not something you need constantly, and a vinyl surface is easy to quick clean with a baby wipe."
I deffer all of these questions to [her]. She has given diaper bag design a lot of though.Using a: Super Ego (Black, Steel, Wasabi) with seat belt strip (Wasabi), and alternate reflective Strip. Just my two-bits on the changing pad: I'm thinking that any fabric in the middle would probably be decorative and would spend most of its time in the wash.
If the pad wasn't directly attached with velcro (itself not the easiest to clean with a baby wipe), it would probably be ok...still, I've had my share of diaper-changing adventures in/on/around/under unusual spaces where, if my daughter didn't mess it up, something else usually did (diaper cream, powder, etc.). I'm a fan of wipe-and-go smooth surfaces.
Then again, if you were talking about adding some fabric at the top ("head") of the pad, that would probably be fine. Anywhere south of the armpits and you're in the danger zone!ha! you just read my signature.

The material was fine for the one I tested out (thanks again, btw). If I used it correctly, the vinyl-like non-skid material was on the bottom, and the 500 denier cordura was on top where the baby was. He did fine with it. But that was when he was younger. He's almost 2 and we're starting potty training this weekend, actually. But for the last few months, as soon as the diaper comes off, he turns and wiggles and squirms and runs away before we can put on a new diaper, saying no diaper, no diaper and laughing mischievously.
If you can design a diaper changing pad that will keep the child in place until a new diaper is on, that would be fantastic. Maybe a diaper changing pad with a seat belt? What do you think?

LOL, we dad's were looking to hook up mom for Mother's day I bet. That's what I was hoping for. Guess I'm going to have to get a Large Cafe Bag.Using a: Super Ego (Black, Steel, Wasabi) with seat belt strip (Wasabi), and alternate reflective Strip. Hi Darcy,
I thought I'd check and see how the diaper bag is coming.
A very good friend is expecting, and I would love for their baby's first bag to be a Tom Bihn bag! What better way to be welcomed into this world?
Please sign me up for a changing pad and a diaper bag.
Ooooooooo! So many good things are cooking!! I'm very excited!!!-m

Also, while you're designing the diaper bag, maybe you'll consider making inserts to put into other bags like the Brain Bag :-) Especially if you can have something by say late May! We're expecting our first in June, and I would love to use my brain bag as a diaper bag so I only need one bag. I imagine it would be convenient if I could swap out my Freudian Slip for a baby-related insert.
For ideas/inspiration: My wife had me get her a Petunia Pickle Bottom Boxy and it has a removable changing roll http://www.petuniapicklebottom.com/c...boxybackpacks/
I've been eyeing the Skip Hop Pronto http://www.skiphop.com/mm5/merchant....ct_Code=202000, but would prefer something that is better suited to the Brain Bag.
Either way, sounds awesome!

Actually, both of those bags, and ideas are nice. Better then anything I've purchased.
I really like the Skip Hop Pronto. It looks like it may fit in side a large Cafe bag without much effort.Using a: Super Ego (Black, Steel, Wasabi) with seat belt strip (Wasabi), and alternate reflective Strip.
