    snake charmer suggestion(s)

    Hi all,

I was just down at the TB showroom (I know that Josh has had to endure several meandering visits from me recently) and wanted to offer a thought.

As I was perusing the shelves, I was considering getting something to act as a toiletries bag. The dilemma is that I want something with the form factor of the Snake Charmer with the vinyl sides of the Clear Quarter Packing Cube.

The length of the SC is what I need for the family's toothbrushes / baby powder / hairspray / diaper cream that inevitably gets stowed in my bag. But, as Josh and I were lamenting, there is a only certain amount of junk you want passing in (and out) through the side of a toiletry bag. Hence, vinyl sides.

Would clear sides be an option on the SC? If not both sides, perhaps one? Maybe the bag could even be offered in dyneema to make for a lightweight and nail clipper and razor resistant bag? I know it may be co-opting the original intent of the SC, but that's for TB to decide!

    Just a thought. Or two.

I think you're describing a new kind of pouch that could be very useful. I especially like the idea of having one side clear vinyl and the other Dyneema.

lingo and everyone else: if we're thinking of this as an entirely new style of pouch, we don't have to stick with the Snake Charmer dimensions (though we certainly can), so what would the ideal dimensions of this new pouch be?
Have a question? @Darcy (to make sure I see it)

Current carry: testing new potential materials in the form of Original Large Shop Bags.

      Hi Darcy,

At risk of stating the obvious, the world of toiletry bags is pretty zany. I guess my suggestion was sort of a product refinement approach, given that the Snake Charmer's size is approximately that of other (traditional) toiletry bags I've looked at. Most fall into the 5"H x 10"W x 4"D, plus or minus an inch.

My present thought is that the size of the Snake Charmer looks to be pretty useful. Unfortunately, I don't have either the Aeronaut or Western Flyer to know how it compares against the Clear Quarter Packing Cube for placement options.

I do think that closed sides would be a great benefit. My preference at the moment would be a Snake Charmer-sized dyneema bag that has one clear vinyl side and one solid dyneema side. Using a smaller zipper (#5?) and mimicking the CQPC's full-open flap.

(You'd mentioned a pending design with lots of dividers, so I don't doubt that Tom is coming up with something excellent.)
