Looking at my new Aeronaut I see two black plastic rings on the bottom of the main compartment toward the back. (I'm not referring to the end pocket sidewall snaps). What are these for? Thanks

Aeronaut question

About those rings... if they're meant for clipping accessory pouches or lights to, wouldn't they work better at the top of the bag? Once the bag is fully packed, you'd have to dig through it to find them (though you would know exactly where they are).
I just got my bag today and was glad to find this thread, since I had the same question.

My Aeronaut is from last year (one of the last of the Forest Green), and it doesn't appear to have these o-rings. So it seems to be a more recent addition.
One of the reasons I love the Tom Bihn company -- if they have an idea to improve a product, they improve it. They don't hype it with unnecessary fanfare, or tout it as more than it is. If they see the opportunity, they just make it better.
For example, I *love* the detachable system for the waist strap they've recently added to some of the bags. (I just bought a Ristretto Messenger that has it.)Last edited by BJ Nemeth; 08-18-2008, 11:02 AM.Aeronaut (Original in Hunter Green), Aeronaut 30 (Forest), Smart Alec (Hunter Green), Pilot (Forest), Co-Pilot (Coyote), Synapse 25 (Black Dyneema), Two Large Shop Bags (Iberian and Steel), Passport Pouch (Iberian), Two Travel Trays (Solar stays in the Aeronaut, Iberian stays home), more than a dozen accessories.

If you ever want to trade your Green for a later version Red, please let me know.

Sorry, Zephyrnoid, but I *love* my Forest Green Aeronaut. When I learned there were only a couple left (with no more being made), I had Darcy set one aside for me until my paycheck arrived. I can't even imagine a better color for it. :-)Aeronaut (Original in Hunter Green), Aeronaut 30 (Forest), Smart Alec (Hunter Green), Pilot (Forest), Co-Pilot (Coyote), Synapse 25 (Black Dyneema), Two Large Shop Bags (Iberian and Steel), Passport Pouch (Iberian), Two Travel Trays (Solar stays in the Aeronaut, Iberian stays home), more than a dozen accessories.
