I don't know why, but I'm not a fan of the ballistic nylon look. I think it reminds me of some kinds of luggage or gym bags I used to see — tough, but maybe not wearing in the way cordura looks and feels when worn in. I'm only judging by sight, though. I've never owned a bag made of that material.
Materials are always a personal choice... the nylon is nylon obviously, but the 525 and the 1050 (used on the large Aeronauts, etc.) are very heavy duty materials with a different 'hand' and look to me than the flimsier nylon bags on the market.
It's hard to see how it will vibe for you without actually touching/looking in person.

You can contact the fine folks in Customer Service and ask for free swatches of some of the colours/materials that you're interested in.
ETA - be sure to specify the fabric, not just the color... Island for instance comes in 210d ballistic as well as 200d halcyon (the type with the white grid lines).. there's also an Island aether used for packing cubes
The product page descriptions tell you the colour & material weight/type for the bags offered.

Depending on where you're located, you could also stop by the Seattle store, see if someone in your area is willing to meet up somewhere in public, or order bag(s) to test pack (see the FAQ for how to, cheapest if you're in the US) and play with them yourself.

Some folks have ordered small accessories (pouches, etc) to get an idea of colours/fabrics prior to committing to a larger more expensive bag.
The organizer pouches and the Cubelets are relatively affordable for that type of experiment.

I'd love a one and done run of the TB Pen Wrap again. Sign me up for 2 if that ever happens...

...I just lost on another one on eBay, and I'd rather buy from the source anyways.

+1. They've done it in the past. Not sure why they seem to have mostly stopped lately.

Deep Blue and Navy bags with an Ultraviolet interior! This combination looks so rich and luxurious.

Maybe this can be a regular offering since Iberian is retiring.

            Please?

            Pretty please? 😁

Add Gatekeeper waist belt loops or a belt tunnel to the Travel Cublet.

Gatekeeper loops added to the Daylight Briefcase in the manner of the Makers Bag would make it a fantastic bike bag.

Padded GWOP! Is that possible? Or is the padding not bendy enough?

With Coyote 210 as a lining on the Syniks, will we see that in more bags? I would looooove an Aubergine/Coyote Synapse or Luminary. Or maybe even a Coyote/Ultraviolet A30. Please give me more brown and purple together!!

I'll third the idea of a tote/backpack -- 12 to 14 liters seems about right -- it should be sized to take at least a 13 inch laptop. (Someone suggested 5 to 10 liters, but that size is better configured as a sling bag rather than a backpack.)

A 14L tote/backpack would be the *perfect* second bag for travel. At the airport, carry it as a tote and use it as a personal item on the plane, with a larger bag (A30, Synik 30, etc.) on your back. By slipping the tote straps over an arm, both hands are free. After arrival, use the bag as a backpack for everyday carry.

I have an 18L tote/backpack (the Simplon 18L from Crafted Goods). I use it as described and love it, but the quality and design aren't up to TB standards, and I'd like something smaller. (Also: no O rings!)

For what it's worth, i spent a *lot* of time researching tote/backpacks before I bought mine, and there are very few on which the backpack function is more than an afterthought. They're meant to be carried mostly as a tote, and only briefly as a backpack. A TB bag that carries well in both modes would be fantastic.

Other than the GE S25, I don't think they had Mars Red with Coyote. On the other hand, there was Mars Red with Canyon, which is slightly more yellow/orange.

@Buffalonian : have you checked tha Totepack by Fjallraven ? My wife has one exactly for the use that you describe. Its design is dead simple, the material is very sturdy and it comes in two sizes, 10 and 14 liters and various gorgeous Colours. No O rings of course, although I think it has one in the internal small pocket, just for keys or small items.

Probably what I was thinking of. Looked great on some bags. Can't remember now if I'm thinking of the Smart Alec or the Brain Bag.

Mars/Canyon was an option on the BB - I have a much loved one - great colour combination.

This request is for the Guide’s Edition Synik when it debuts early 2020...

Can you bring back Olive Parapack? Somehow some way? That would look stunning, and with Coyote.
