Convertible Packing Cube/Shoulder Bag

I'm thinking of ordering a Convertible Packing Cube to use
as a shoulder bag on a daily basis. My needs have changed
since I retired and I nolonger need the capabilities of my
Imago bag.

Essentially, I'll be using the Convertible Packing Cube as a
man's purse.

Has anyone used the Convertible Packing Cube/Shoulder Bag
as an everyday carry bag?

Convertible Packing Cube/Backpack

I've been thinking about ordering the Convertible Packing Cube/Backpack and use it in tandem with the Size 1 Soft Cell as my everyday lightweight laptop bag. I think with the overall dimensions being (as a backpack): 17.5" x 13.5" x 4.25", it should accommodate a MBP 17?

I've used the Convertible Packing Cube, but not as an everyday carry bag. Since you've used the various size Cafe Bags as well as the Imago you know that these bags give you more in the way of organization, pockets, and pouches, as well as the larger capacity and the covering flap.

The Convertible Packing Cube is a very light-weight bag. It's slightly less wide than the Imago, and about two-thirds the height. It's great for its designed purpose as a convertible travel bag, since it's well-sized for the end pockets of the Aeronaut. You could easily pre-pack a few items, put the Convertible Packing Cube into the end pocket of the Aeronaut and then, when you reach your destination, lift the bag out and transfer it to the Absolute strap used with your Aeronaut, and be on your way. It also fits well in the Swift and Lux as backpack noted.

The main thing you might want to consider is what you plan to routinely carry in this bag. Because it is light-weight, flexible, and a good size (13.5" long), it's not going to hold its shape if you attach it to a strap while empty; and if there are only a few small, weighty objects in it the bag will sag. On the other hand, if you're carrying a light jacket, or maps in the outer zip pocket, this works well, and holds up in the rain. Apart from the zippered pocket outside, you don't get the same kind of organization you do with the Imago, and there are no o-rings inside. Structurally, again, this makes sense in view of the light-weight nature of the Dyneema fabric. Of course, you can use (unclipped) organizer pouches inside.

As I stated, I haven't used the convertible packing cube extensively as a bag. YMMV. Perhaps someone else can chime in here.
