I saw on the other thread that the Synik is going to be made in black parapack. That's very exciting. Will it also be made in olive and navy parapack?

Answering the post originally posted here over in this new thread....

The Synapse is hard to use as a travel bag, since the outside pockets take-up space that is otherwise not useable by the main compartment. For folks not traveling with multiple smaller items, it's wasted. And for those putting our valuables in there, it's easily accessible and easy to open.
The Synik has the same features.

By contrast, the BB has two large compartments already, and its outside pockets are harder to access but don't necessarily take-up space due to the compression straps. A clamshell BB with a converted second compartment as a dedicated laptop + tech space, perhaps a little narrower (my arms and elbows bump into the bag when I carry it) would be, for me, the perfect 1-bag travel backpack.

The Synik seems more like my girlfriend's perfect bag... she loves the S25! She also carries a lot more smaller items which fit in the pockets much better
This is a difficult question to answer because we don't have an answer. We've discussed it, but no answers yet.

Yes to the Navy (lined with Steel) Sadly, no (because I loved it!) to Olive because we're out of Olive Parapack. And no Steel/Steel because we're reserving Steel for linings.

Sorry if I missed this, but what does the name mean? Is it a play on cynic? I was hopeful that it was a neurologic term (as I like when the names of related bags play on one theme) but I can not find that this is the case.

Here's an excerpt from the Synik description that answers that:

Oh… what’s with the name, you may be wondering? We came up with Synik as a play on words and a way to tease Nik about how everything he designs is going to have his name in its name (after Nik’s Minimalist Wallets). Unfortunately for Nik, the name stuck: it’s a name that acknowledged this is mostly still a Synapse — yet, it’s updated with various new features, mostly designed/patterned/made real by Nik, with feedback and collaboration with Tom.

And while our Company Philosophy doesn’t have much to do with lower-case-c cynicism, there’s much to contemplate about as we consider capital-c Cynicism. Many of us can find something to appreciate or ponder in this oft-quoted remark of Diogenes:

“I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world.”

To us, being a citizen of the world means we belong to our families, local communities and humanity as a whole. It means treating everyone with equal measures of respect, and to be comfortable in all settings and with all people: to not think of ourselves as separate for better or for worse and to maintain the ability to relate to one another. And as we think the Cynics would point out, this certainly leaves room for critical thinking, constructive criticism, meaningful debate and even satire: paired with genuine care for each other and the world around us, each can be a powerful tool for good.

“Dogs and philosophers do the greatest good and get the fewest rewards.”
            ― Diogenes

A few quick questions, firstly any timeframe for a guides edition? Any new external colors being released? And finally is this the 'mission to mars' bag/stowaway replacement or are some new designs coming.

For people who got a Synik 22 and have a Synapse 19, please hurry sharing your reviews!

Jumping up and down since I saw, the Synik 30 and Synapse 25 review.

PS: Jumping up and down is figurative, but, I am sure exited about this new design.

The clamshell design of the main compartment would seem to work really well with packing cubes.

Any chance of dedicated Synik packing cubes that might also squeeze into a Synapse?

Max dimensions for the new laptop area on the 30?

If any reviewers are around, would really be curious about a comparison between the SN22(S22?) and S25...

Also a comparison of the SN22 and S19.

Me too! The Synik looks like it solves all the problems I had with trying to use an S19 as a laptop bag.

We originally planned to offer a Guide’s Edition Synik, but then we decide to move forward and approve lab dips of our 525d ballistic in Coyote (couldn’t help it: it just looks great). Having 525d in Coyote means we could make “full Coyote” Guide’s Edition bags and we figured it would be best to wait until we could offer that combination…. and that’ll probably be early next year.

This is not the zero g bag; that’s a different one, and it’s one Tom is working on in the factory this evening. No timeline for it.

We originally planned to make some Synik-specific Packing Cubes (and, yes, they’d also work with the Synapse) but decided against it for two reason:

                            1. We wanted to focus our efforts on the Synik itself.
                            2. The Synik has great built-in organization and the tie-down straps do help when packing clothes. We wanted to see if people are happy with the organization inherent to the bag or if there’s requests for packing cubes and maybe even other organizational items — we’ll take your question as the first vote for that.

One idea we had for Packing Cubes: longer, more Travel Stuff Sack/Laundry Stuff Sack-type cubes that would nestle on either side of the interior tie-down straps.

I'll be comparing my review 22 Synik to both the 1st run Synapse 19 and the Synapse 25.
