What is the benefit of pre-ordering?

Do people pre-order just to get it ASAP? Or are there perks like exclusive colors, discounted price, etc.?

TLDR, pre-ordering ensures you get a bag from the first production run. Sometimes it's a limited edition item and there will only be one production run.
In the case of the Syniks, they will go into a regular production cycle after the pre-order is completed and shipped. The available colour combinations may very well be different after the pre-order, based on what people preferred. Sometimes a colour combo does not appear again or maybe only years later.

For instance, since Iberian and Wasabi are discontinuing, if one of those is in a bag you like, that may sway your decision.
