I would be wary of adding loops to make a waist pack out of the lower, larger half of the PCBP. It would almost certainly bump against your legs as you walk. The largest bag TB make with the waist pack loops is the Side Kick and I think that’s about the most I would want, height-wise. Anything larger and you’d want a more specialist pack to distribute the weight evenly around your body instead of straight up and down.

@melminimalist, I couldn't tell from your description--are your webbing loops on the inside or the outside of the bottom compartment? I think @Nettabird is looking for loops on the inside, for attaching a belt when the compartment is turned inside out. (I don't have an A30 PCBP anymore so I can't check mine.)

@Nettabird, if you add loops I think it comes down to how you'd feel about your inexpert sewing--will seeing it give you a warm glow because you did it yourself, or would it bug you? If you do add some webbing loops yourself, I think my only tip is to use heat to carefully seal the cut edges of the webbing so it doesn't unravel. You can use a match or a lighter (carefully).

I just got my new A30 PCBP and I don't know how I missed this in the description because it's right there, but I was disappointed to find that there are only webbing loops inside the *top* compartment and not inside the bottom one. I guess it'll be an easy thing to snip off a couple inches of the Gatekeeper waist strap and sew some webbing loops into the bottom compartment seams near the top, I'm just surprised they aren't already there so you could use just the bottom compartment when you have too much cargo for the top but not enough for both.

I'm posting because I searched the fora for like an hour but I didn't find anything about this.

Ideas? Tips for making the change? I have plenty of extra strap to snip a bit, but I'm not super experienced with needle and thread. Maybe I should take it to a place that does alterations professionally?
