What do you put in your organizer pouches? Help for a newbie.

    Hi y’all,
I’m pretty new to TB bags. I bought a MB about a year ago and just received my Black Halcyon/Iberian CoPilot Monday. I love it. Along with the CoPilot I bought two Medium Organizer Pouches, one ballistic and one halcyon.
I’ve been a bag junkie for decades and have tons of organizer bags but they all have ‘bottoms’ of an inch or two in width.
I can’t figure out how to best utilize my new TB flat pouches...everything I put in them that I would bring along as EDC just turns them into a lump best suited for a pouch/bag that had depth.
I don’t want to return the pouches if I can find a use for them on a daily basis...so, what do you experienced folks use them for?

I'm currently using three pouches, whose names I can't remember. Mini: medical insurance cards/IDs. Ghost Whale small: hearing aid batteries and other related bits. Clear organizer (prob. small?): First aid stuff incl. over the counter meds. Due to contents, they all stay pretty flat. I tether the clear organizer because it wants to migrate to the bottom of whatever I'm carrying. The other two are small enough that they can stuff in bag pockets.

These are things I like to have with me at all times. I move them from a Med Cafe Bag to a Daylight briefcase to a Co-pilot depending on where I'm going.

I use a mini halcyon pouch everyday for my public transport card, and a small halcyon pouch when I travel to hold my passport. Both of them are tethered to o rings. I'm not sure what I'd use a medium pouch for if I had one.
A30 in original halcyon/wasabi. Side Kick in verde/northwest sky and cloud/viridian, Pop Tote in Mars Red and Nebulous Grey, Travel Cubelet in Mars Red, Viridian and Grass, A30 packing cube backpack in northwest sky, large travel tray in sitka, packing cubes, pouches and cubelets

I often bring a Double OP for receipts and change when I travel. I usually pay with plastic but always also carry cash (in my pocket, not a wallet) but I don't like carrying change... so any coins go into the DOP along with any receipts or similar that I want to save.

I just recently got the bag but I have 3 smalls in my Synik 30 I use. I have cash/coins in my red (in left pocket), along with membership cards and other such things. My yellow I keep in the bottom, this has misc stuff, right now it has pain pills due to minor back injury. Right blue I put my keys in and anything else I need more frequently.

I do have a mini coyote as well in the top pocket that could be used for keys or something like usb adapters for phone charger but it's empty atm.

Inside I have ghost whale but again that is empty, will be more used for cables when I travel.

I really like the pouch and o-ring setup it's really nice to just pull that out via webbing than have to route around the pockets. I don't know why other manufacturers haven't considered this, it's so simple yet so effective.

Thank you, everyone, for your ideas. BihnBag, I think the O-rings are a marvel, too. Hindsight is telling me that I would have been better off ordering 2-3 of smaller pouches instead of the two medium ones. I did get the smallest Ghost Whale that’s now full of bits and bobs.
I originally thought I’d sew a split ring inside it and use it to protect my car fob but it’s too big for that.
I’ve got a Leuchtturm A6 hardcover and a Lihit Lab Compact Pen Case coming today. (Really wish TB still made their pen carrier thing). Perhaps one of the medium pouches will be good for keeping those items together and the notebook from getting too banged up.

Oh boy, where to start?! Medium ghost whale for my pens, medium ghost for sunglasses and yet another for jewelry. Super mini ghost for coins and chapstick on my keys, medium padded pouch for my ipad mini, medium ballistic pouch for my notebook. Small ballistic pouch for my passport, large ballistic for my important papers. Prob more that I am not thinking of. I have organized all of my possessions using TB organizing pouches, cubes, and travel trays.

I occasionally use a Medium Organizer Pouch for receipts, but that's not something I need very often (though it was super handy last summer when I was working on a project that I needed to save the receipts for). I use smaller pouches a lot more often: Mini Organizer Pouch and Small Double Organizer Pouch for first aid kits; Super Mini Ghost Whale Pouches for earbuds and for hair stuff (hairpins and ponytail holders); a Small Ghost Whale Pouch is my pen case for class; a Mini Q-Kit holds two lipsticks, a lip balm, and a tin of "fashion tape" strips; a Small Q-Kit is my usual charge cable kit for traveling. I also use a Halcyon 3D Organizer Cube to hold my work badge and a couple of other work things.

On my most recent trip, I also used some size 1 Travel Stuff Sacks for a few things: one for my hat & mittens (since I didn't need them until I got to my destination), one for some little things I knew I'd want during the flight.
I have a bunch of great bags. Favorite color combos include Aubergine/Island, Navy/Solar, Forest/UV, Original Halcyon/Wasabi, Cloud/Viridian... and now also Seapine/UV!

I've fulfilled my dream of palindromic-colored nested bags! Navy/Ultraviolet Pilot with Aubergine/Island Side Effect inside: blue purple purple blue. Forest/UV A45 with Aubergine/Wasabi Co-Pilot inside: green purple purple green.

The organizer pouches are flat. They come to a point where the fabric is tight. That will not change, but in time (weeks) once the fabric is used it will start to relax. This will allow more items to fit the flat pouches. When I bought my first organizer pouches I thought the same thing, "these don't fit anything more than business cards and flat paper." So I filled them full and few weeks later noticed there was more room. Hmm. So I added more and then in time they held things like highlighters, pens, and other moderate width items. So my suggestion if you will keep them is fill them full and fill again in few weeks. They will be quite different/improved to current perception.

I use OP's for many things. My favorite is my Medium Double Organizer Pouch (DOP). The back compartment holds address labels, blank envelopes (medOP just fit the US envelope that fits 8.5x11 paper folder in thirds), and also the back compartment is where all my mail and receipts placed as they are recieved. Front compartment holds my checkbook, a mini clear OP for coins, and then a clear organizer wallet (COW; essentially a mini clear OP with 2 half size open dividers) that I use for gift cards and coupons. Yes, 1 OP that has 2 other OP's used inside. Yes, that may sound weird, but works very good for me.

                      Greetings,
At home, I use the Medium Double Organizer Pouch to corral papers for what ever little project I'm working on. Last month it was all the Real ID papers. That's arrived this week, so I'm renewing my passport next. I've already put the passport photos and my old passport in there. The renewal form is sitting on top, waiting to be filled out. After that, I've got to do vehicle registrations.

When I'm traveling, I put papers, blank index cards, receipts, business cards, and brochures in the back pocket. The front pocket holds anything I need for the day, like driving directions on an index card, hotel address or business card, an index card with all my flight info, restaurant details, event details, metro card, and any entrance tickets. While traveling, I find the Medium Double Organizer Pouch absolutely indispensable for both business and pleasure trips!

I have a spare DOP, so I'm putting it in the glove box of my vehicle to organize the registration and insurance forms. elisa

As a follow-on to the other recent posts about the Medium Organizer Pouch — especially the Double Organizer Pouch in that design, I’d Like to add that this size is a great fit to the front zippered pocket of the Packing Cube Shoulder Bag, where it can also act as a stiffener, if you are carrying heavier items in that accessory, especially when that bag is not completely full. The Ballistic Nylon will work, but I prefer to use a Double Organizer Pouch here for the reasons given by @organicfarmer and @AlaskaGirl. The double layer + urethane window acts as a good stiffener, and you can split use of the two pockets:

This is an example from one of my posts in the Blues and reds in organizer pouches thread. The medium double Organizer Pouch lies on top of a Packing Cube Shoukder Bag, so you can see the height will fit into the front diagonal zippered pocket. A traveler could put post cards in front and carry a folder itinerary or receipts in the back pouch.

If you’re interest in pouches that can expand more to 3-D usage, take a look at the Ghost Whale Organizer Pouches. There’s a good video on the product page

I have a medium and small OP. Both are halcyon. I love the feel of it.

I use the Medium OP for car registration and insurance papers in the glove compartment. For a while I had used it for holding some small notebooks and pouches in my bags.

I use the small OP for edc. The size is great for my TC and other bags, it could even fit in my pocket in a pinch. Inside I have: 2 pens (1 fisher space pen, 1 gel pen), pad of sticky notes, chap stick, pocket knife, and a 6in machinist ruler (its stiff). I love the size, and I'm able to pack everything in so that it stays flat, but often the knife or the space pen like to slip behind the stick notes and make a bulge. Its easy to fix (I don't even have to open it) but I'm getting a double OP to solve that problem.

I agree with everyone else, the OPs are best when kept thin. In my experience, the larger OPs (like my medium one) are more forgiving when converted to '3d' than the smaller ones.

Funny you mentioned a stiffener, moriond. That was my original thought when I ordered two mediums along with my CoPilot. I thought the halcyon version might need some shoring up due to the fabric...and that just isn’t the case at all. I was going to put couple of notebooks in it for rigidity. (Like I need to do with my MB). So then I was left with the ‘what the heck do I do with these pouches’ question, which led to the original post.
