Holy cow that's a long time to wait. Was the delay longer than you expected, or had you known it would be 3.5 months?

@ScottE23 I ordered bags in backorder when was near the shipping time, I made another order and then one more with the debut items, all combined into one. I had to wait a lot but it saved me US$800,00 in shipping!

Let me explain... TB has a flat US$100.00 shipping fee to Brazil. Brazilian government import tax is 60% over the TOTAL (value of goods + shipping) but when is sent by courier the tax raises to 100%! So 100 turns into US$200!
I made 3 separated orders plus 2 accessories additions, that would be 5 shipments, so I would pay US$1000.00 and by combining orders only US$200.00! That's the reason why I buy in larger orders!

Wow! That's crazy! I wait to combine items just to save $10US!

Wow...that IS crazy...how can they justify that. That makes it so expensive for you.. Would it help if someone in the USA would get your order and send it as a gift for you? (did I just say something criminal here..)

              Comment

It costs about $85 USD to mail a flat rate box with items valued at $200 from the US to Brazil. The person sending the gift would have to declare the price of the items, and I think the person receiving the package still needs to pay the tax. So I'm not sure there would be much if anything in the way of savings unless the sender lies about the items' value, and I suspect that's fraud.

Ethics aside, lying about the contents would make any kind of insurance claim a whole lot more complicated.

Yikes! That's a lot of Reals!

How much is a flight to the US? When you are getting in to that territory anyway, it almost seems worth at least considering.

Traveling to Seattle to buy is definitely the best solution and I did consider this, but it was not an option due to the unavailability of items. It took me almost 4 months to gather the bags I wanted.

In Brazil we have a say "Se correr o bicho pega e se ficar o bicho come" - If you run it gets you, if you stay it devours you!

So I must carefully plan my orders as now I am working on my Christmas list that already includes a Dyneema S25, Shop Bags and several organizers and probably an additional A45!

2015 is year to hit the road and I plan to bring my $/mile for my TB bags down to fractions of cents!

Thinking of the book Nightflight...the Pilot secretly dropping TB parcels into the jungle of Brazil while flying the daily mail to Argentina.

LOL this makes a sad story worth a smile... I love Tom Bihn puns. I was seeing the Nightflight in Aubergine and the Pilot in Forest helping out a Bihnion by growing wings and arms and whatnot to bring the parcel to eWalker. Of cause very secretive as not to end up in Zoo or Freacshow.

                                LOL I loved the idea!

Imagine the level of TBAS looking at the skies, searching for a huge Nordic Aeronaut hovering in Brazilian skies carrying a gigantic travel tray with nested winged bags inside of it!
