TB Anticipation Syndrome

Sitting here staring out the window waiting for the UPS truck to delivery my Synapse 25. I don't know why it has taken me so long to get a Tom Bihn backpack. I've had an ID Messenger bag, a Checkpoint Flyer, a Ristretto for iPad, and an Aeronaut 45, all while continuing to use a Swiss Gear backpack from Target as my EDC. I stopped using the ID ages ago because I recognized that I am just fundamentally a backpack person. But then I was traveling so much for work that the Checkpoint Flyer really appealed to me for simplifying airport security. Then I fell in love with single bag travel and knew I wanted the Aeronaut 45. So every time I had bag money it ended up going towards everything BUT a backpack. So today's Synapse arrival is particularly exciting for me because I feel like I've waited way too long, and I can't wait to chuck this Swiss Gear bag to the Goodwill.

Well, the Small Cafe Bag just popped up in Azure or Grey with Steel interior, and ever since getting my MCB I've been eyeing an SCB but didn't like the colors. Grey and Azure are 2 of my favorite TB colors, so I spent the morning waffling between them. Finally settled on Azure/Steel, because I love that nice rich color*. Hopefully I slid my order in under the shipping deadline and will get it tomorrow!


*although there's a good chance I will end up ordering Grey/Steel eventually as well, if it stays in stock long enough for me to be in the mood for a more neutral bag.

I did indeed make it under the shipping deadline yesterday, so my SCB was delivered 6 hours ago. . . . . and the front desk hasn't finished checking in the UPS deliveries for the building. Which means I still have at LEAST an hour more to wait before I can actually get my hands on it! (Yes, I'm impatient)

Good for you. I'd been constantly day-dreaming and hallucinating whenever I comes across any words "Grey" or anything in Grey color. Just a few minutes ago, while driving home, I just realize I also own a "Grey/Steel" DLBC. Should I get another Grey/Steel ?!?!?

Just ordered a Grey/Steel LCB for an EDC and hopefully for traveling - either as a personal item or the only bag on 1-2 night trips (think I figured out how to pack it with a couple EC specter tube cubes?. Definitely hoping to give it a workout at Dragon*Con in a couple weeks, but nervous how huge it will look on my 5' frame.

My, oh my, how the hands of the clock seem to operate at half tempo once you receive that glorious email from TB confirming your order has been received. And then, just when you think it can't get any worse, you receive the next wonderful email letting you know that your order has been fulfilled and is shipping. You check the UPS tracking number only to see that it hasn't managed to populate the system. And so, you wait. You check UPS.com to learn just how many days it should take and discover it will take a whopping five days! But wait, there is a weekend and a holiday involved. It could take a week!!!

I think I watched too much Bugs Bunny as a child.

EDIT: I ordered the medium DOP in Steel Dyneema, size 1 TSS in UV Dyneema and 8-inch keystrap in UV.

tim13, I feel your pain. This week is crawling along. My order is slated for Thursday. I keep checking to (a) see if it somehow hopped on an earlier plane, or (b) got delayed, possibly over the long weekend. I think I have a very bad case of TBAS.

Good thing there is a thread for what has no grabbed my attention since placing my order yesterday. This is no good, clearly, as I haven't even gotten the bags that I am testing out yet. Will look for my shipping notification on Monday for a Synapse 25 and Smart Alec to try out each one to see which works best as a mostly EDC for me as well as a travel bag.

When I think about more internal organization I feel I may rather have contrasting pockets internally so as to aid organization. Sound like some great accessories though - how many key straps?
