My Alpha/Cloud Cafe Bags arrived today. I love Alphaviolet!! I was unsure because in pictures it reads a bit bluer than in real life. But when I opened the box they just glowed.
I will say - I love the new 525 and 210 ballistic, but I might actually wait and see if they offer the Swift in the new fabrics. The stiffness of the ballistic compared to my Halcyon CB's makes the bags quite boxy, vs draping around me. - Not a critique of the material, just an observation of its properties and how they interact with this design. Someone else might like that the Cafe Bags in ballistic stand up and are easier to get into with one hand. I happened to be at a friend's house when I was practice packing the two (small and med) and she said the Medium looked quite big on me. So I might like the new ballistic for the Luminary or a Swift, where the crisp nature of ballistic works better for me.
- More thoughts: the new straps are very nice! Slick, almost. I found the strap quite comfy with a light EDC load-out even though it doesn't have padding like the Swift handles. (Neither does my older Dyneema SCB - I only mention that because my friend who was watching me try stuff on was surprised it doesn't come with the pad. (I told her about the Ultrasuede wrap that can be added separately.))
- Beautiful "hand" to the new fabrics. (I also like the extra "toothiness" - if that makes sense - of the 1050 ballistic, this is a different look. Like satin ribbon vs. grosgrain ribbon, maybe. Or chinos vs denim.)Last edited by haraya; 07-26-2017, 07:19 PM.

Hi all! I'm a new poster but long time lurker. I want to thank everyone for being so generous with accounts of your experience with these bags. They informed my decisions on what bag to buy for my needs, and left me free to commiserate about which colors to buy! Today I'm anxiously waiting for TWO Luminarys, one deep blue/canyon and the other olive green/canyon for my husband. We will use these to explore our state of Kansas. We drive around the backroads and out of the way places to meet up with the real Kansas that so many miss in the big cities: people that are more than willing to help you or talk to you about almost anything and to see sights that perhaps you can't see anywhere else (ie the Flint Hills). These bags will fit our purpose beautifully. Can't wait!!

Greetings,
A Side Effect in my favorite color combination of Nordic/Ultraviolet is on it's way. I already have three Side Effects and the Side Kick is now my preferred daily carry, but those colors! Yes, resistance is futile once you have tried the best!
Last week before I checked out, I added a few items from my Wish List. Imagine my surprise when a Swift in Nordic/Ultraviolet appeared! Of course, it hopped right into the cart.
It's all supposed to arrive tomorrow. elisa
