Today I am crying because UPS sent me a message and said I owed SEK 1260 in duty. That's $136, on top of $45 shipping and (of course) $120 for the actual frame sheets and belts. $300 even, the actual merchandise 40% of the cost! I can't understand how it can be more in duty than the actual cost of the items, UPS must be making a lot of money...

The shipping cost is what UPS charges to move the items.
The other amount UPS collects on behalf of the Swedish government - import duty + VAT.

All of us overseas Bihnions feel your (wallet's) pain. Sometimes it seems worth the money to actually travel to the US to buy from TB!!

The frames and belts will be worth it though.

Good news! I called to query the charge and found that they had overcharged because of a data entry mistake!! Instead of 1250 it will be 440 SEK. Also @G42, UPS charges a substantial collection and handling fee on top of the customs charge. And did you know there is also a customs charge and VAT on the shipping amount?

Anyway very happy to have this sorted out! Especially since it means I’ll have my belts and frames soon! We travel to Gothenburg for Easter so we can try them out!

I'm happy you had the charges reduced - always worth calling up.

Yes, UPS charges a fee for the collection of the taxes, but my understanding is that it's because the gov't makes them collect the taxes in the first place and they have a right to charge a fee for doing the paperwork, etc.

One way or the other, gov'ts want their taxes for products & services imported into their countries and for items produced within their countries...

Oh sure, I just thought they had upped their processing fee to astronomical levels! A bit of time to cool down then I realised it just had to be a mistake. Sure enough -- someone had put $145 for shipping instead of $45...

TB Anticipation Syndrome

I took my SCB to Opening Day at Tropicana Field a few weeks ago, but it proved a *little* too small to fit all the snacks etc my husband wanted me to carry for him.

Solution: ordered a MCB in Alphaviolet 525 with a Cloud interior (plus a FS in Island).

Got the expedited shipping so it could make it to me here in Florida in time for next weekend’s series between the Rays and Red Sox at the Trop.

So excited!

I took my SCB to Opening Day at Tropicana Field a few weeks ago, but it proved a *little* too small to fit all the snacks etc my husband wanted me to carry for him.

Solution: ordered a MCB in Alphaviolet 525 with a Cloud interior (plus a FS in Island).

Got the expedited shipping so it could make it to me here in Florida in time for next weekend’s series between the Rays and Red Sox at the Trop.

So excited!

Just snagged the oBlack/Island A30 before the oBlack discontinues.... paid for shipping so that I can get it this week, even though my pre-order should ship next week... but I want to savor two separate hits of TB


I think I'll try it out on my Maui trip next month... and I'm leaning towards taking the bright happy Grass sZTSB as my second item, even though Island would probably be more appropriate

I know what you mean! I'm adding some Ghost Whale Pouches and a Burnt Orange Cafe Bag to my pre-order, and I'm looking forward to having everything but on the other hand it's nice to have the excitement of the new bags spread out a bit.

I have its twin, which I purchased back in 2015 when Island debuted as a limited edition color. I love that bag. It's been my travel buddy to many exciting places. Smart move to purchase one before original black halcyon is retired. I have never regretted my purchase and I am sure you will love yours. Maui sounds like a lovely maiden voyage for your new A30. Have fun!

A man in brown driving a brown truck dropped off a black/island L15 with one of Nik’s Wallets (#4), a Ghost Whale, and one of each size Q-Kit today. Looking forward to the L15 so I don’t have to carry my S25 on trips where I don’t have a laptop.

The L15 has been an excellent pickup but it needed a couple of extra organizational tools; same with my trusty TS and S25. USPS delivered a packet yesterday containing a Clear Organizer Pouch (medium), a Double Organizer Pouch (small), a Pocket Pouch, and a few Key Straps.

Sometimes UPS is kind and super speedy. I placed an order on the 28th, and low and behold it has arrived in the UK and it let me schedule the delivery for tomorrow on the 30th! Having been at home in bed sick for the last 5 days, it feels like a tiny, wonderful miracle. Who says retail therapy is a bad thing?!

Ordered my first Cafe Bag (med) and some more GW pouches, because clearly one can never have too many GW pouches. At least I can have fun test packing in between coughing and sneezing.
