You are gonna LOVE your new Synapse, Badger! I've had third-party anticipation for you, knowing that the Synapse was headed your way As for the large OPs, I got my first one a week or two ago (in Wasabi!) and don't know why I waited so long to get it. I use it for chapter drafts of the novel I'm working on and it is PERFECT for carting chapters to my critique group, to drag to the kids' various sporting events, etc. Can't wait to hear about how much you end up loving today's loot!

I think the Steel was reflecting the Indigo, maybe?

I have to say, the OPs delighted me. I've wanted a sort of minimalist way of corralling papers and other sundry academic effluvia (sorry--that's a gross word, but there you have it), and I think I've hit on it. That they can hold manila-sized folders is a bonus, too.

Here's how I remember to order OPs: just buy one or two every time you place an order. Then you never forget . . .

I think this is a throughly appropriate phrase. I may have to *borrow* it :-)

It's been at least a few months since my last TB purchase so I ordered a steel/solar Western Flyer as I really like the solar interior and I wanted to get one before they were gone.. Had to settle for the one without backpack straps - please tell me I will still love it. Also got the camera bag and some solar organizer pouches. Can't wait until it gets here.

The best way to alleviate the tendency to forget to add OPs or other TB must haves is to make use of the great Wish List.

List all the items that suits your fancy, you then add up items one by one in the Basket, keep them there or remove them before checkout.

My ordering strategy is to get major items by color or type, the main items are added to the Basket then I visit the Accessory, Knitting or other sub-menus included in the the More section.
I keep adding until I have reached the budget.

I usually get UPS Ground shipping, if I was on a deadline to get a new Tom Bihn Bag and I needed faster shipping, I probably would (try to) skip the non bag sub-menus unless a new and important Accessory had been added and was needed for the activity planned for the new bag.

Your mileage will vary if you are a customer outside of continental United States.

Gasp! You're writing a novel! Fantastic! I hope you'll let us all know when you sell it.

The big thing that I foresee using the OPs for is a conference that I have in November. I'm taking a ton of undergrads (well, probably closer to 1/3 ton) to a conference. None except for one has been to a conference before, and in my paranoia I am planning on carrying their registration paperwork, handouts, extra copies of their presentation, and other stuff like that. So, sort of like your kids' various sporting events, just--um, academic, and with people who are technically grown-ups.

I already love the Synapse, and I know that it will accompany me on a few weekend trips up in Wisconsin this summer. I can't wait.

Badger, you can also fit a bunch of band-aids in the OPs. If your undergrads are like my undergrads, they won't wear appropriate footwear. Nor will they have packed first aid supplies.

                    (Congrats on the new Synapse.)

Oh, I know. I've already planned a pre-conference meeting in which one of the items of discussion is "Sartorial Appropriateness." At the last conference, one my kids inadvertently wore too short of a skirt and was sort of wretched and embarrassed the whole time. At least she noticed, though.

I also bring Tide To Go, loads of painkillers, pens (you know, because who brings a pen to a writing conference?), and an extra hoody (see under-dressed girl, above, or the kid who forgets to bring a jacket to Massachusetts in November). At least right now I enjoy this sort of thing; I imagine in 4-5 years it will wear off and simply annoy me.

I have the opposite problem, rabergnc: I go a little overboard on the OPs. (If such a thing is possible.) Though I don't own any large OPs, and seeing yours, badger, makes me think that maybe I should get one or two. Are you using them to corral papers?

The plan is to use the large OPs to corral random papers during travel, but also photocopies and hard copy drafts when I'm working on research. I likely won't need more than the two I've got (although if some splendid new color comes out, I think I'll give Katy carte blanche to set me up with a nice new OP whenever she thinks I'd like something).

Apparently I don't need Katy--I'm perfectly capable of enabling myself: I just ordered a mini Dyneema pouch in Solar. There is something wrong with me.

Just ordered the imago and FJN in navy, along with a boatload of organizer pouches. Just can't wait!

I ordered a couple of pouches in Solar, too: that color really brings sunshine into wherever you put it.
