    Open House on 8/22

Just wondering if any of you will be at the TB open house on Saturday?

Darcy, are you within walking distance of Pike Market?

    Heidi,

We're about two miles from Pike Place Market. Most buses that run on 1st Avenue South will stop at the bus stop right in front of the Outdoor Research building - the building that we're on the second floor of. If you see Krispe Kreme, you're not there yet. If you see the Starbucks headquarters/Sears, you're too far.

Yes, we will be there!! Are you going to bring your spinning wheel?
Have a question? @Darcy (to make sure I see it)

Well, my plan was to park by Pike Market early to get the cheap rate and take the bus to TB by 11:00, so I hadn't planned on bringing a wheel! If you really do want to check out the wheel, I could park in your lot instead - but would I be able to stay there for the day without getting a ticket?

              Thanks, maverick!!

A note for picture takers: please ask permission before you take pictures in our store or factory. Some of the folks who work here would rather not have their picture taken, and we ask that you not take pictures of prototypes or unreleased bags.

It should be a lot of fun, see you all tomorrow!

Yes, those of us unfortunate enough to be 2,700 miles away from the showroom would love pictures!

It was wonderful! I met Tom and Darcy and Ichiro, got to watch Tom do a quick design and see how that whole process works, saw really cool machinery, bolts of fabric, huge bins of components.....such fun! Ate yummy biscotti, drank coffee....and a navy/storm/sapphire Imago happened to follow me home. What could I do - it sat up, and looked cute, and said that it belonged with me! I've been wanting one for a couple years now, and could never decide on the color - decided I just had to go for it, because there will always be new choices coming out.

                        Thank you, Tom and Darcy!

                              Oh...The Open House on 08/22

First, let me say that I've been reading in the fourum for about 4 months. Well it's a long story but my first purchase was a snake charmer. Then I started reading about the bags.... Long story short, the Ego is my bag.

                              The Factory/Showroom
It's unfortunate that not everyone lives so close, but let me tell you, everything has a place, everything is super clean, and well organized. I'm not sure why I had to take my shoes off to go thru the security gate, but I guess that they are very detail oriented, and wanted everyone to have the full experience..

And, let me say that Tom & Darcy are excellent hosts, and Tom makes very good biscotti.

What you cannot see on the website
Okay, so now what you probably are looking for….

                              Field Journal
Okay, so when I first heard of the field journal, I thought, ahhh, I'm not really a bird watcher. I don't know why I thought of that immediately, but I did. In fact I was so in awe of the....backpack.... when I went to the "prototype table" that I missed it. Interesting back story to the field journal and it's been a long time in the making. However, I will say, BRILLIANT! FUNCTIONAL! I Cannot wait to own one. But I will tell you, when I saw it, I thought I cannot believe that is how that works, great engineering. In fact one of my colleagues was using a type of field journal today and I was thinking, if only he had a Tom Bihn. Well, sorry I don’t think I can say anymore without TB sending the local City Council candidates to my door (sorry, we live in a small town).

Synapse DARN! What a bag. I wish I could have walked out with it, but it is not ready, yet.. Oh, and for those wondering, I didn't just look at it thru glass at the nursery, although I did have to surrender my keys and shoes, but my friend, Indigo really wanted to jump in the truck with me. Thinking of what I saw on the site, and what I saw and handled, the pictures do not do justice. Think of the Synapse pictures and information like the latest Star Trek Movie, the original trailer was pure teaser, and they got better and better, well that’s what I can say about the Synapse. I am confident that it fits the niche that most are looking for.

                              Did someone say Netbook Bags?
I'm not currently a netbook user (I'm more of a 12" laptop & iPhone kinda guy), but that is the way to carry one. I believe that this is launching shortly.

                              Cache
Although I'm a strong Brain Cell proponent, I was impressed with the ease of use, yet most excellent construction.

Before Tom hunts me down and uses his men in black flashy thing on me, I wanted to get this down, you know electronically.

Again, thanks to Tom, Darcy and the crew for the most excellent customer service.
