It is close to military green. It really would depend on where it's worn. I don't think anyone would blink an eye in the U.S. or Canada, and perhaps much of Europe. They are used to seeing military personnel and don't see them as a threat.

However, I doubt I'd want to wear that color in Africa, South America or the Middle East. It could be mistaken for foreign military. And that could be dangerous.

I agree that the Olive, in Cordura, is a little too close to military-shade for me. However, in Ballistic Nylon, it might be okay.

And, in all seriousness, if Grape or another purple color comes back, I will buy every single bag again. I love purple!

I'm happy to hear that there's a possibility of adding another color of ballistic nylon. I miss the days of kiwi, grape, etc. -- black and steel are great, but I'd really love to see more and brighter colors of ballistic (I realize it's an economics issue and that having more colors doesn't always make sense). As for the olive, I think it can look military-ish -- especially on certain bags like the Brain Bag. But on the cafe bags (and others) with brighter or contrasting interiors, I don't think it does.

I also vote that TB's olive isn't very military. But...
    • I am not around military areas/people much.
    • I'd use the bag more for my everyday/home-work environment than for traveling.
    • I think the cayenne/wasabi liners enliven the olive to make it "fun". By itself, the olive appears more "military".
    • Olive in ballistic could likely look more military/hardcore than olive in 1000D Cordura.

That's good to hear about the potential olive color. I like the all the greens I've seen with TB so far. I look forward to seeing the Co-Pilot in a few more colors (along with my other wish of more everyday 1000D products and more greens, oranges, mauves, "jewel" tones, etc.).

I have an olive/cayenne medium cafe bag that I use almost every day and I've never thought it looked military to me.

Looks military to me. Different armies use slightly different shades of "Army Green" and I would not travel with any green shade duller than your Kelly, to ensure it didn't look military.

The whole spectrum, from Olive to Wasabi to Linen are potentially army colours to me. Kiwi is bright enough to be OK, but Wasabi is duller.

I have an Olive Large Pouch which I never use. Got it because it was the only 500d Cordura one available.

I'm Australian so my view of colours may be quite different from the US views.

I don't find Tom Bihn olive to be a "military". The sheen of the olive cordura makes it quite rich looking and it really has the wonderful greenish hues of olives. It's a great neutral color.

Co-Pilot in an olive shade (future wish)

I hope the Co-Pilot will come in more colors before long. I don't really need one now, but it seems like a great, uniquely sized bag that I could use for my everyday bag now and then when I want to carry a little netbook (or similarly-sized gadget) around.

I'd probably get one now, but I don't want it in any of the current colors. They are fine and neutral for business use, travel, etc. But I love TB largely for its olive-cayenne color combos, and I'd probably love for my Co-Pilot to have colors approaching the olive-cayenne. The bag looks to serve like a mini briefcase; I find it very uninspiring when my work bags have the standard black, blue, etc. colors.

I know the Co-Pilot's ballistic nylon only comes in limited colors for now, but I'm just hoping/wishing the color offerings will have more variety soon...
Working...
