After months of being on the fence, I finally went to purchase a Techonaut 30 in Black Halcyon, but noticed that TB no longer offers either the Design Lab label or the standard blacked-out label. TB support said that T30s aren't currently in production, but that they'd pass my feedback for label preference along. This got me thinking. Am I the only one going crazy about labels here? The Design Lab label makes the bag look so sleek and modern. It'd be a shame to not see it again. If by some miracle TB produces a Black Halcyon T30 with the Design Lab label and a Halcyon liner in a bright color (not Northwest Sky or Coyote), I'd purchase in a heartbeat.
Welcome!
We're glad you are here. This is the place to ask for bag advice, help other people out, post reviews, and share photos and videos.

Hi hotpancakes
As far as I can tell, the black out label comes and goes and is often paired with one of the exterior Black fabric combos.
The Design Lab version seems to go away after a certain type of bag is no longer a new new design.
The bigger constraint you may want to pay attention to is that since the factory that makes the 400d halcyon used for exteriors has gone away, there's only a finite amount of the heavier Halcyon left overall (hence some of the recent frenzy over Night Walk).“Them as can do has to do for them as can't. TB gave a heads up in some blog and Forum posts
Here's one of the blog mentions from January
https://www.tombihn.com/blogs/main/w...ates#toyotapls
They have since mentioned several times that they have not found any other supplier (it was a pretty unique fabric).
The 200d is run at a different mill and is ongoing and other people use that fabric too. The issues that come and go with 200d supply were linked to pandemic supply chain issues.
So, I don't know exactly when material is running out, but if you wait too long, you'll be buying on the secondary market.
FWIW, I started budgeting and pulled ahead all my potential 400d purchases over the summer. That's not feasible for everyone, I know. The supply issue is outside of TBs control and they're always evaluating new fabrics so who knows what the future will bring.
The new Addax bags are the first ones using X-Pac, Cerylon was introduced a year or so ago, Cordura came back, cotton twill was used for a bit... It's always changing.
ETA: X-Pac isn't a replacement per se, but it is the newest material to the line up and TB just posted a blog about it
If you have seen our recent announcement of the Addax 26 and Addax 31 (Debuting November 28th at 7 am PST) you may have seen the latest addition to the TOM BIHN fabric lineup: X-Pac®! Now unless you’re a materials geek (like us) you might not know very much about this fabric. So we have decided to put together a compiLast edited by G42; 11-22-2022, 02:06 PM.“Them as can do has to do for them as can't. And someone has to speak up for them as has no voices.”
