The all olive imago is on my wish list. Never ever seen one online though. Just one in person at a bar.

Is there any chance that the Smart Alec may be brought back? (any news?)

They did an encore production run pre-order in spring 2022.

Haven't heard about any future run, but you can always contact TB and see what they say.

At the very least, besides your request here, you can also sign up on the item page to be alerted if there are any future updates; TB uses all these means to gauge interest over time.

They show up on the resale market as well... There are a couple on eBay right now actually.

I have two of them, they're useful packs.

No, actually the Imago is still too big, it is either the same size or larger volume than the Maker's Bag depending on which Imago measurements you read. I want something smaller but not too small, so around 8-10 liters, just about the size of a horizontal Medium Cafe Bag (and slightly larger and more organizational and "huggier" than the Side Hustle, which I'm working on making work but it's still not quite what I'm looking for.)
              Rambling On. . . . .

Maybe a smaller Parental Unit/hobo type bag

ETA, and I forget, have you tried the DLBC? Probably not deep enough front to back for a camera insert...

Yes, I've tried both the Parental Unit and the DLBC, neither are suited to what I need for a "smallish" camera bag. The Maker's Bag is great for a "big" camera bag, and a scaled down version would be the ideal for days when I don't need to pack the whole kit and want a cross-body/messenger style bag. I use a Paradigm backpack with insert for my scaled-down kit in a backpack, and the size is just perfect so getting that size in a horizontal messenger style is what I'm looking for.

Currently I'm using a Timbuk2 XS Messenger for the scaled-down kit, and it works but it's not as well organized as a smaller Maker's Bag would be.

I forgot if I wished for this earlier, but:

                    Minimal briefcase:
                    • Same size as the DLBC would be ideal (or make it in two sizes, one a bit larger for those with 15" laptops)
                    • Minimal laptop sleeve, same style as the sleeve in the Paragon
                    • Slightly more organization -- not enough to add bulk, but a few smaller pockets and pen slots would be nice instead of the single pocket on the inside of the DLBC. Something like the style of pockets inside the Side Kick/Hustle.
I realize adding the laptop sleeve will mean it can't be rolled up and stuffed in small places like the DLBC, but keeping things minimal we could at least pack it flat inside a bigger bag pretty effectively, I think.

My wish is there would be no more "last run ever before retirement" marketing. Wasabi had the shortest "retirement" and is back. Large cafe bag and pick up truck are back into production. "Retired" has proven to be a lie. Put a different description on bags that have no near future production. Someone has suggested "vault" designs. Maybe they will come back someday, but not anytime soon.

? Bags sometimes turn up on the website as "in production" that are actually retired. What else makes you think runs of the PT and LCB are imminent?

setrombley Large cafe bags have color choices listed with the new cerylon fabric colors and "Enter your email below to be notified when this product is ready to ship" message. Pick up trucks are also listed on the page with the other tote bags as "in production" with color choices and the same "Enter your email below to be notified when this product is ready to ship." message. They are no longer on the "retired designs" page of the website.

That's my point. Retired designs do not always live on the "retired designs" page or lack the email notification box. The cerylon thing is suggestive, but not definitive, as I suspect that liner colors get substituted in automatically (and no one would check if the item was retired).

Regardless, I'm not sure it's worth getting worked up about an old design getting an encore run even if they said it was "retiring." Are there people who would only buy a bag if they're guaranteed it will never reappear, as opposed to maybe possibly reappearing in a couple of years or more?

FWIW, TB has referenced at various times across blogs, Forum posts & product descriptions that they can only make so many designs at a time, so old designs retire to the 'design vault'.

From what I have observed, some come back into regular rotation, some for encore production runs, some for preorders & some seem to never return. Presumably designs that aren't particularly relevant anymore (like the CheckPoint Flier for instance) or that have issues for material availability (the Coyote extra trim used on Guide's Editions, the discontinuance of the mechanism for the FJN) seem less likely to come back, but they always leave that 'you never know' disclaimer out there.

The pandemic shutdown and recovery had led, per Darcy, to some designs being retired for a while too.

Constellation and Cerise seems like a pretty pairing even though pink isn’t really my colour. That’s still blue on the outside with a fun pop of colour inside. Been thinking about the Side Hustle but had no interest in any of the combos released thus far. I’ll buy a Constellation/Cerise SH.
