    Hello Bantam!

MikeV what is the Bantam’s relationship to the Side Effect?

Slightly smaller, more carry options (the belt loop function is going to be sweet!), different internal organization

        More black Xpac?

Hoping for more color options in this fabric than basic black.

It makes the brand blend in a little too well amongst brands like Aer, or Defy, or Alpaka...and even most of those brands mentioned offer Xpac in more colors than black.

Excited for a new bag design, but bummed out to learn it's only being offered in one color for the debut release and that color is black.

I own a LOT of Tom Bihn bags, but here are the ones I'm using right now:

        EDC: SH
        Day Hiking: ADX26
        Car Travel: T45, MT, MYD
        Plane Travel: CP, WF, SZTSB

Here's a blog post I wrote about my 3 favorite bags:

The Ocean Blue RX30 is awesome (I have a pouch in that from another company). I keep hoping for some new color options as well. Seems like TB is trying to gauge or generate interest in xpac by offering it in some smaller designs, which I understand. The problem is that there is a nonsignificant number of people (at least on the facebook page) who are waiting for something other than black. (Personally, I want to see it in a few different colors in Synapses, Syniks, and Smart Alecs). I really want RX30 to succeed, so I hope more colors are offered to attract more buyers. Also, I really wish the Bantam was lined--I would gladly pay more for a lining.

I do like this option very much. Is the Bantam too tall and wide to sit in the sternum strap as well?

I have to say, I love that the Bantam comes in reverse (shiny side out) x-pac and regular (matte side out) x-pac. It looks awesome in reverse x-pac.

Ive actually carried it that way, not my preferred way to carry it, but interesting.

MikeV or MaiaH can you post a pic of the back side of the bag / the cool belt loop function? Seems like only one side of the bag is pictured. In reverse x-pac if you can ;-)

I don't have an available photo in reverse x-pac, but here's what I do have!

Thank you MaiaH ! That allays my concern, which was that a big piece of nylon webbing would be covering the x-pac.

The thing I love about the reverse version is that it is the closest a TB bag has ever gotten to a dressier bag. Don’t you think the reverse version looks like quilted patent leather? I love it!

Looks interesting. Will the non-reverse version be offered with a blackout label? Or with the same label that the SE/EC/SK uses instead of the large colorful label?

I think the 3D Fabric Organizer Pouch in Black Parapack looked pretty dressy, especially with the current 5/8” straps with the satiny texture.

Yes I agree, the satiny strap fabric is much nicer (in form and function) than the older webbing! The reverse X-Pac would also look good with a gold or silver chain strap, as wildly impractical as that may be, but these are the rabbit holes I find myself in.

Is this single-layer XPac? I would be concerned about buying anything unlined at this point, because I've had a few bad experiences with fabrics peeling (on my Everyday Cubelet, for example, and the one-layer sides of every Pilot and Co-Pilot I've owned). Also not crazy about the size of the logo in comparison to the bag. However, I have enough slings at this point so it wouldn't really be on the table for me anyway. Hope it sells well, and perhaps modifications can be incorporated down the line.
