What's your 2011 TOM BIHN Wish List?
Last edited by Darcy; 10-17-2011, 08:55 AM.Have a question? @Darcy (to make sure I see it)
Current carry: testing new potential materials in the form of Original Large Shop Bags. -
I'd love to see the Western Flyer available in black or steel with iberian interior; and I'd be interested in a cafe bag in ultrasuede or ballistic nylon (neutral colors preferred), as the cordura can sometimes cause slight pilling on a few fabrics. I carry a small cafe bag as my daily purse, and it looks like adding a shallow open pocket on the side would work really well for my slim cell phone. I don't like carrying a phone in my pocket, and don't like to bury it inside the bag, either, so a little side pocket would make me very happy!

The Cafe bag in Ultrasuede, the enhanced larger Co-pilot, and a mini cafe bag.Western Flyer (crimsom) with Absolute strap, Zephyr (black), Medium Cafe Bag (steel/olive), Shop Bags (solar, steel), Large Cafe bag (navy/cayenne), Small café bag (forest), Tristars (steel/solar and indigo/solar),Aeronaut (steel), Side Effects (old skool black cordura, olive parapack), Imagos (steel, cork, wasabi, and aubergine, hemp, steel), Dyneema Western Flyer (Nordic/Steel) and miscellaneous packing cubes, pouches, etc.

I would like to see/ hope for:
- the new larger "Pilot" big brother to the Co-Pilot, hopefully with even more additional pockets inside; a second ultrasuede pocket (for those that carry an I-Touch as well as a phone), and other pockets for small items that can get lost but would be too cumbersome in another organizer pouch (after all, they too take up space).
- a Side-Effect in ultrasuede
- more small pieces in ultrasuede!
- O-rings in the Packing Cube Shoulder Bag
2011 - with new Tom Bihn designs on the horizon, all the more reason to look forward to the new year!"Buy the best, cry once" - Pasquale

Not so much a product, but a picture. I have the large Ristretto, but before this new month is out, I want to order another, smaller one. I was all set for it to be the iPad version, but since the 11 has come out, I'm not sure. OK, so I only have an iPad, but the 11 might be more flexible. But then, just like the 13, it might be a bit big for general service as a man bag. I've toyed with ordering both and doing a comparison, and sending one back, but the postage is prohibitive (from Scotland). So a comparative pic or two, or better still some video of the three together and on various people i.e. I'm 6'2" so I can get away with a bigger bag than my 5'3" wife. So I'd think that three bags on each of three people (small, avg, large). I.e. nine pics or, better still a bit of video would be great for a new year gift. Hey, lend me some samples I'll shoot it myself! Though, Mav would do a better job!

Here are some ideas I've come up over the last couple of years, in no particular order...
1: As mentioned in a previous thread and in a Maverick video, I would like to see the rumored Tom Bihn Garment Sleeve. In short, I would like an elegant, high-quality way to carry a full suit with sport coat in an Aeronaut or Tri-Star without having to rely on aftermarket accessories from other companies.
2: Also mentioned in another thread was the notion of a simple "Paper Bag" slim (non-laptop) briefcase.
3: The recent revelation of the new Colored Key Straps are wonderful. I would like to see a long version of these colored straps.
4: How about a simple utilitarian duffel bag, no frills, like Red Oxx Aviator Duffels, but with one important difference from the Red Oxx offerings: I would like to see Bihn duffels with built-in hooks for the Absolute Shoulder Strap (Red Oxx Aviators offer no shoulder strap compatibility) and maybe an internal o-rings for attaching key straps and organizer pouches. The objective would be to offer a simple, inexpensive duffel for utilitarian and travel use. It would be better than the Red Oxx Aviator or BAD's carry duffel options though maybe not as elaborate as Timbuktu's Stuffle Duffel or Hemlock Duffel.
5: It would also be great to see what kind of high-quality, USA-made thoughtful designs Tom Bihn could come up with for hiking shutterbugs. In the Fall of 2009, I suggested that Bihn try competing with "shoot from the hip" offerings from the likes of Think Tank Photo's Multi-Media Wired Up Collection.
6: Anyone for a larger version of TB's excellent Side Effect?
7: Also: I wonder if Tom Bihn could design a carry-on-capable suit travel bag to directly compete with the Patagonia MLC Burrito.Owner of: Brain Bag backpack (Black), Field Journal Notebook (Blue), Snake Charmer (Small, Orange), Super Ego briefcase (Black / Indigo / Steel) with Reflective Strip, Brain Cell (Steel), Horizontal Freudian Slip, various Organizer Pouches and Key Straps, and a Side Effect (Black / Wassabi) worn as a belt-style hip-pack.

^ Good idea! Also of relevance for the duffels would be Waterfield / SF Bags' Sling psuedo-duffel, which apparently does offer an o-ring. I don't think duffels need to be constructed of flashy fabric like that, though.Owner of: Brain Bag backpack (Black), Field Journal Notebook (Blue), Snake Charmer (Small, Orange), Super Ego briefcase (Black / Indigo / Steel) with Reflective Strip, Brain Cell (Steel), Horizontal Freudian Slip, various Organizer Pouches and Key Straps, and a Side Effect (Black / Wassabi) worn as a belt-style hip-pack.

I would like to also see 1.the pilot especially with a version having the iberian dynema for the lining 2. the copilot with cordura and the iberian dynema 3. camera insert with multiple sizes 3. some sort of sleeve pouch for the apple wireless keyboard. 4. fj on steroids with a pocket or place to put/ carry an ipad.

ps Happy New year!Empire builder (Black, black, steel), Ristretto for Ipad (Steel/Wasabi), Synapse (Indigo/Solar) 2 padded organizer pouches, 3D organizer, ultasuede cloth, cache for ipad, cache for Macbook air 11", clear waller, 2 absolute straps

Freudian Slip for the Synapse
I think that an office journal notebook in letter/A4 and Ultrasuede matching more Ultrasuede Bags which fit netbooks, MacBookAir, IPad and other e-tablets would be a hit with people who feel that Utrasuede is dressier than cordura or ballistic nylon.
And, people who are in business suits environments like law firms, state and federal political offices, etc...
A tallit/prayer shawl bag like an oversized Large Clear Organizer Pouch or an oversized 3D Clear Organizer Cube.
More Dyneema colors
Little Swift in Plum, Conifer and Indigo as well as Slate Blue, Sea Green and Peony Pink .
Small Cafe Bag in Plum/Steel.
And in Ultrasuede matching the Little Swift.
The Kit in Ultrasuede, the shape is so stylish it would make a great evening clutch.
Isolating Pouch for the Glass Factory Water Bottle to keep juice cold and tea warm.
Dog Accessories especially bowls and treat holders in Dyneema.
I think a Side Effect in Dyneema would be perfect to hold all of the above dog accessories and clickers/whistle learning tools.
I think a FJN in Dyneema is required to hold all the obedience and agility routines (for me not the dog)
I have noticed that people who ask for a Mini Cafe Bag do not own a Small one.
Once I got my Small Cafe Bag, I felt no need to ask for a mini, give it a try.
In the past, I asked for mini replicas of the most popular TB bag to be made as coin purses. I now realize how much work it will take, most probably not doable in TB standard.
But, a picture of the most popular bags on a luggage tag, in addition to the Matterhorn one, would be great!Last edited by backpack; 01-01-2011, 09:03 AM.

- Mini Cafe Bag
- Lightweight duffel. I'm happy with something with a few frills or a really lightweight no-frills bag. Just something that's comfortable to carry but easily packed as a spare bag.
- Freudian slip type thing for the Synapse
- Synapse in Crimson! Actually, that can wait till 2012 or 2013 when I let myself buy a new one. I do love the steel but not long after I bought mine I saw a crimson one in the wild and it was love at first IRL sight.
- Simple lunch bag. I've started packing snacks for myself when I travel and a simple lightly insulated pouch that would fit in my synpase would be wonderful.Owner of:
Imago in Cocoa/Cocoa/Wasabi, Large Cafe Bag in Black/Wasabi, Various organizer pouches/stuff sacks/travel trays, Small Shop Bag in Steel and Iberian, Synapse in Steel/Steel, and a Medium Cafe Bag in Plum/Wasabi.
