    Question for Aeronaut 30 owners

I just got an aeronaut 30 and I don't get why the clip mounts are outboard instead of inboard. Seems like I'm going to be walking with zippers rubbing my waist.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but why can't you just wear the A30 so that the zippers are on the side not touching you? The strap attachments are dead center to the bag, so it seems to me that either side could easily be the "out" side.

Getting to the point with too many bags to list them all. Current daily carry is my Black Halcyon Zeitgeist with a Cobalt Cerylon 3DOC as my "purse"/

Hmm, that's odd … I was going to say I haven't had any problems carrying my A30 on its strap (although I tend to use the backpack straps or just drag it by its handle most of the time). But then I went to look at mine, and those clip mounts are attached differently … they're on a center seam lined up with the endpoints of the side pocket zippers.

I bought this one a couple years ago (early to mid 2020, I think) … has TB changed the design of the A30 a bit since then?

But thats the deal, the snap hooks are not centered. They are on the outboard (Flap) side of the bag and not the strap side and certainly not centered. So If you carry the bag Flap/Logo side out, as God intended, the strap mounts are away from the body pulling the bag out and away from the body. You can see the result in the photos. It seems like a mistake.

You can see snap hooks are outboard pulling the bag to the diagonal away from my body. That is Flap/Logo side facing out Backpack straps on my hip.

I mean, that can’t be right can it? I should be carrying the bag with all zippers from the main compartment and two side compartments rubbing my hip and upper leg???? Or just let it look like the luggage version of a crazy crop of hair shooting out the side of my head because I couldn’t find a comb.

I suggest you take a photo, looking down at that specific panel/side of the bag so it's clear where the clips are vs the seams on that side, etc and send it to the Customer Service folks at TB. They'll be able to answer your question.

Thanks, I’ll do that. It has to be a sewing mistake.

Really interested to hear the outcome of this - I was going to order an Aeronaut but if the straps are no longer centred that's not great.

On the product videos, it looks to me as if the strap hooks are centred. However, on some of the product photos the strap hooks look like they are not centred.

I wonder if the design may have changed but the promo videos and some of the photos have not been updated to show the most up-to-date changes. It's frustrating if that is the case, although I think I may have seen that with some other product videos, too.

I just looked closer at your pictures, and what you have is not what I have. My A30 is several years old. Either you have a sewing mistake, or the design has been altered. So I retract my "just wear it the other side out" as I now see the problem.

I recently purchased an A45 and it has the same non-centered positioning of the strap hooks. I haven't traveled with it yet but test packing and walking around the house with it using the strap didn't see uncomfortable.

Are the straps on your 45 mounted close to the body (inboard) or away from the body (outboard)? I wouldn’t mind the rings being off center as long as they are mounted inboard, otherwise the weight of the bag draws it to a diagonal away from the body. I can’t see that helping me in an airport walkway when I’m 8” wider because of how the strap mounts.

I could wear it other side out and that would fix the problem, but that also would mean that I would have the flap and end pocket zippers rubbing my hip.

worn flap side to the body, it now looks correct
