Little Swift!

I ordered a Little Swift in Hemp yesterday. I got my shipping notice today and I'm supposed to have it in 6 days! Oooooo... I can't wait! I'm sitting here crocheting my latest project and am just giddy over the new bag.

Of course, I also ordered a few fancy colored key straps! How could I resist those?!?

Agree, this is a killer bag. I use my Little Swift in Vulcana Hemp all the time.

I too love my Hemp Little Swift. I have had it since September. I use it as my mom bag. Purse, knit bag for small projects, catchall for 3 kidlets and dh, travel bag. I really don't want to carry another purse. I love bags, and have wanted to want something else, but I can't bring myself to like them as much as this one. It's fabulous!
And like you, I am trying hard to be good an wait. My full sized Cork Swift, Iberian shop sack and some smaller accessories are coming Friday. Waiting is hard!

Ooohhh... please tell me how you like your shop bag. I'm concerned that the large will be too large. I'm planning to order a small ultraviolet, but I LOVE the Iberian. Just not sure about the large.

And I'm excited that you like your Little Swift so much. Sounds like we will have common uses for it. I know my husband is hoping that I finally find "the" bag so he'll be ecstatic if I love it as much as you do.

i find the large works well for a trip to the grocery store. it probably holds as much as a brown paper grocery bag.

the small also works well for a trip to the grocery store if you're not buying as much, but i like it for other shopping and for trips to the library. i think it holds a little more than the plastic grocery bags used to hold.

This is exactly what I ordered it for. But I can see that it can have many other uses. I have a mishmash of bags that I have purchased over the last 10 years of refusing to take the plastic bags. Most of those I'm going to start giving away as I have the opportunity to. I've come to the conclusion of the shape and size that I like the best, and what I don't like about some bags. I keep some different style bags on hand for shopping in clothing stores and discount stores. I keep a few large (laundry basket sized) bags on hand for IKEA and Sams Club.
This Iberian, and the Ultraviolet, when it comes, should be perfect combined with my insulated bags for my regular grocery shopping. Even though my insulated bags are going strong after 10 years of use, it would be nice if eventually Tom Bihn made an insulated grocery bag. . .

I will report back. What are you planning to use the bag for? That may play into the size you need. Or are you concerned that it will drag on the ground? I think the straps on these are armpitable so you should be able to heft it onto your shoulder (how I have to carry heavy bags anyway).

I think my concern is stemmed from seeing the picture on the Tom Bihn site of all that the small shop bag can hold.

Does the large bag hold up well when it's fully loaded? A paper bag holds it's shape really well and so works well for larger loads, but I'm a little concerned about the bag's ability to "keep it all together" when I put it in the back of my van.

I pretty much plan on using these bags at the grocery store. I've got four teenage boys to feed, so having the large bag is probably best for me, but like I said, I'm just concerned about how it handles being fully loaded.

I've got 7 year old and 6 year old sons and a 3 year old daughter. The daughter eats like a bird, but the boys and dh together eat as though they are preparing for famine. Much groceries are purchased and brought into our home.

Dyneema is a very pliable fabric, and as such does not "keep it all together" - it will give way if the top is not secured. You could secure it easily by just tying the straps together though.

UPS came by as scheduled, but brought a package for my husband... not me! When I checked the tracking it said, "A first attempt was made, but customer was unavailable. A second attempt will be made." What? I've been home all stinking day! COME ON, UPS!!! I NEED MY TOM BIHN BAG!!!!!

Tips: keep the UPS tracking page on at all time,
park yourself in the room that has the best view of your walkway,
listen to the truck,
if something is delivered to another member of the household ask about your package using the tracking number.


Each UPS delivery person has her/his own style of delivering some knock loudly or ring, some leave the package at the door, some come in and knock softly so you miss them.


It takes only a few minute of not being on alert to miss a delivery, think taking the pooch outside, answering the phone on the other side of the house, checking up on laundry.


I feel for you, please show us the goodies when you get them.
