In a few weeks I will be taking delivery of an IBM Thinkpad X32 ultraportable laptop. It comes with a detachable docking station, the X3 Ultrabase. My question is: would the X32/ultrabase combo fit a size 5 Brain Cell? Here are the dimensions:
without X3 UltraBase: 10.7" x 8.8" x .98-1.19"; 273mm x 223mm x 24.9-30.2mm
with X3 UltraBase: 10.8" x 8.9" x 2.0-2.3"; 273 x 227 x 51-58mm
A poster on the Thinkpads.com forums asserts that his X31 + ultrabase (exact same dimensions as X32) fit in perfectly. Does the Brain Cell really offer enough stretch to accommodate that combo?
Additional questions: does the size 5 Brain Cell fit in the Smart Alec comfortably without distending the bag sideways? And if the Brain Cell sits low in the bag, won't its upper edge dig into the carrier's back (as opposed to a monolith taking up most of the bag's height)?
I apologize for the hair-splitting questions -- I would like to make the right purchase. Any advice and recommendations will be most welcome.
Thanks in advance.
