So who preordered a Kindle Fire? More importantly, will there be a new Cache for it?

Yes, I hit the preorder button within hours of the announcement. How awesome would it be to have a new Fire-sized Cache waiting when my Fire arrives in mid-November?

I am not the target market for a $200 color reader as I already have an e-ink reader and an ipad. They sure put the spurs to the RIM Playbook and the other android tablets with that low price.

A medium padded organizer pouch would fit that with room to spare, the small is a bit too short.
    Kindle Fire: 7.5" x 4.7" x 0.45" (190 mm x 120 mm x 11.4 mm)

    Organizer pouches
    small: 7x5
    med: 10.7x7

Also rumor has it that the Kindle organizer pouch is going to make a return so there could be a less expensive way of covering up that new Kindle Fire without having to step up to a full blown cache.

I'm tempted at getting it--however I already have my Macbook Air and iPad. Part of me really wonders if I need another ultraportable electronic device.
      Super Ego w/Seat Belt Buckle [Black/Steel/Wasabi], Cadet 13/15 [Cardinal/Steel], Aeronaut 45 [Cardinal/Steel], 13" Ristretto (Old) [Olive/Cayenne], Synapse 19 [Indigo/Iberian], Camera I/O, and a whole bunch of other goodies.

The thing that excites me about the Fire release is that the e-ink Kindles have dropped significantly in price. I have an iPad, too, but reading on it for any extended amount of time really fatigues my eyes. I'm tempted to pick up one of the touch Kindles in the future.

Also, +1 on the Medium Padded OP. Mrs Badger keeps her Kindle in it and it's worked a treat.

Katy, don't feel bad. I still have the original Kindle I. I had high hopes for the Kindle Fire but it doesn't have some important things I was hoping for like bluetooth for my portable keyboard. Or an SD card slot.

Actually with the HTC Flyer dropping in price it is looking more and more appealing. Bluetooth and MicroSD but only a single core processor.

If it would only drop a little bit more...

I agree, it has to drop a lot more.

I just got a bluetooth folding keyboard Amazon.com: Verbatim 97537 Wireless Bluetooth Mobile Keyboard for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, iPad2 and Other Tablets (Piano Black): Electronics for my Ipod Touch.

It works great. I don't watch movies on it or play "action" games so I'm wondering if I really need a tablet right now.

Actually, if it hits $249 I think it is pretty compelling and at $199 I would take it over the Fire every time.

I reviewed the Verbatim Keyboard on my site and it is a great portable solution. Works well with all Apple products but it is hit and miss on the Android front.

And no one really "needs" a tablet. Steve Jobs has convinced us we do!

I don't know if you've seen this, but someone posted directions for synching with Android:

                      In Android:
                      Turn on blue tooth.
                      Scan for devices.

                      Keyboard:
                      Turn on the keyboard.
Push the "Pair" button with a pen.

                      Android:
                      Select the keyboard.
It will ask for a 4 number password. Enter any 4 numbers.
                      Press OK

                      Keyboard:
Enter the same 4 number password you entered in Android.
                      Press Enter.

It is not a pairing issue. Android does not have an HID Bluetooth stack as part of its distribution. The version in the tablets does but the Flyer and the View use the phone OS version of Android.

Luckily, HTC has added that capability to the View and Flyer, but the driver stack is not in place in most of the phones. Some phones will work with this after market option from Teksoft.

So the keyboard works well with most 7 inch tablets except for the Samsung, but the phones are hit and miss...my EVO 4G does not. So the phone will appear to pair but not do anything.

Why? It's perfectly good at what you bought it for.

Do you need another one? Sounds like you don't even want another one, but it's a duty.
