    Packing Cube Messenger Bag?

I'm no longer a fan of backpacks as "daybags" and would much prefer a messenger/shoulder type bag.
While I know there is a Packing Cube Shoulder Bag, it looks too much like a purse and as a member of the male persuasion, it's just not going to cut it.

But what about making a Packing Cube Messenger/shoulder bag the same size as the ones for Aeronaut and Tristar/Western Flyer currently in backpack style? All that would be needed is to add a couple of "D" rings instead of backpack straps. No strap needed as the strap used for the larger bag (Aeronaut, Tristar, WF) could be removed and used with the packing cube bag. (And don't forget those "o" rings inside.)

    Does this make sense?

Yeah, I see where you are going with this. That's a pretty neat idea. Some of use purse-carriers might like the messenger profile, too, for times when we need to carry magazines or books or folders that lend themselves more to that mode of carry.

I would suggest a reconfiguration of the zipper, though. My PCBP, if turned 90 degrees, would have a zipper that opens across the top, down one side, and across the bottom. I would feel a little squeamy about carrying important items when they could fall out the bottom of my bag. But if the zipper went short side/long side/short side instead of long/short/long, then all would be well.

Frank II, what has turned you off on daybag backpacks?

I never really carried them like backpacks. Usually just strung over one shoulder. That meant I had to hold them in place. I'm tired of that and would prefer to carry a bag that will leave both hands free.

I don't like my bags to be out of my sight. While I'll carry my main bag backpack style if necessary, butmost of the time I use the Absolute Strap.

Of course now I can't find it, but I believe I as well as a few other folks posted this specific request in the Wish List thread (http://forums.tombihn.com/tom-bihn-n...wish-list.html) if not a few other threads.

I'd generally want more products in Dyneema, but this duffel bag/gym bag idea is a really simple one. They can use the exact same dimensions as the Packing Cube Shoulder Bag, but sew up the zipper exactly like a bigger version of the existing Shoulder Bag. It definitely needs D-rings (just like the Packing Cube Shoulder Bag) with an optional simple strap. It would be AWESOME beyond words. I'd use it as my gym bag everyday!

Other Dyneema products I've love to see:

          Dyneema Side Effect
          Dyneema 3-D Clear Organizer
Dyneema 3-D Organizer with OPAQUE SIDES (no clear panels) for privacy <-- This has the added benefit of being able to be used as a tiny purse/wallet when a bigger purse is unnecessary (I wouldn't mind this with regular Cordura, too; with no clear panel).
