@dwright17 I'm afraid that I got the last navy/solar WF with backpack straps -- it just arrived on Monday. But, don't you have the even rarer WF in indigo/solar with backpack straps? Would you rather have the WF in navy/solar?
@moriond - I have the indigo/solar without backpack straps, and got the very last one of those when they were selling out. I thought for a brief while that I was willing to trade it for one with backpack straps because I have a really small frame and carrying it for much distance is still rough on my shoulder even with the absolute strap, but as you probably know, the indigo color is amazing and I don't think I could give it up! So if Katy comes up with a navy/solar with backpack straps, I'll probably just buy another one (which would be ridiculous, I know) and sell my navy/solar aeronaut (which I would probably talk myself out of doing and would end up with all three)!
OK, I totally understand. The backpack straps really do make the Western Flyer easier to use on a small frame. After considerable debate, I decided to order this last week in Navy/solar, before solar went away. I got the original WF in crimson/steel when it first came out, but found the sling strap harder to use. I've been wondering whether that strap design, along with the open water bottle pocket, was part of why I don't use this bag much, despite falling into the 5'4" and under category that the smaller bag is so well suited to. So I wanted to give this a fair shot.
May I say that you have excellent taste in bag colors? I hope you find your WF.
Umm, pardon my ignorance...but I must have missed something! Is Crimson / Steel being discontinued?
Cheers!
@Maria with the announcement introducing Cardinal ballistic nylon a year ago in June, bags that used to be made in Crimson started being made in Cardinal. Crimson is a brighter red, and is the stock color of my Lux (Swift predecessor), Smart Alec, original Aeronaut (from the very first production run -- they sold out almost immediately), and original Western Flyer (from the first production run with sling strap). It's also the color of the inside lining of my ID bag, and numerous Brain Cells (gee, this an embarrassingly long list, and doesn't even include pouches!). My Breve (that I just learned today is discontinued) is Cardinal, not Crimson.

HTH. moriond
May I blame it on lack of sleep? Of course I remember Crimson being discontinued, and when I wrote the original message - just saw "red" and got Crimson and Cardinal confused!
Thank you Moriond, and apologies for having brain in neutral gear!
