The Buzz for the Macbook Pro?
Hi Tom,
Has there been interest in a larger Buzz that would accommodate the Macbook Pro?
It appears that the Macbook is:
8.92" x 12.78" x 1.08",
and the Macbook Pro is:
9.6" x 14.1" x 1"
If we are redesigning the Buzz to accommodate the Macbook, could we go a little further (less than an 1" more widthwise and less than 1.5" more heightwise) to also accommodate the Macbook Pro?
I would very much like to try using the Buzz as my go everywhere do everything bag - and it would be nice to carry my Macbook Pro in it when I need a computer with me and leave it behind when I don't, all with the Buzz!
Thanks,
Maverick

I really want a Buzz too, but am holding out for one that can fit the MacBook I'm getting...

Couldn't agree more. I need a sling bag to wear as I commute via motorcycle (putting a backpack on wearing shoulder pads is a bit difficult) and the Buzz looked perfect. I was more than a little dissapointed to discover my widescreen wouldn't fit (ThinkPad Z60). I don't need it wider, a little deeper wouldn't hurt, but definitely a little longer . . . just a little bit, please.

Where can I donate to the Clone Tom pool so we can get a MacBook Buzz for next school year?

However, I have about six projects ahead of a Buzz re-design in the works, so it won't be until fall sometime at the soonest, that I would even be able to see if a Buzz that accomodates the 13" MacBook is at all workable.
I appreciate you wanting a Buzz, and now that Apple won't be making the 12" PowerBook anymore, I guess the re-sizing may be inevitable.

I don't think your eyesight is at issue. We only added the 'Lefty' Buzz as an option on the website a few months back. Prior to that I think we may have had a note in the product description letting people know that they could request it by calling us.

Thanks. Since my computer is too big for the buzz, I was using it as my daily pack and using the brain bag for my laptop. The buzz is so stylish I'm tempted to try again but I'm going to hold out for the new smaller messenger in the works. Meanwhile I'm using my brain bag for my daily pack.
I must be half blind though because I didn't see the left handed option back last year when I was looking.

Hi mrae,
You could always try this again with the lefty model *grin*. I think they have been including a description about this option on the product page for a while. At least, I recall seeing that added ever since this post appeared. And there have been some later threads that also mention this option. (This is probably a sign that I'm spending too much time reading these forums!).
Just, you could follow the example of the person in the first linked thread and get both a right-handed and left-handed Buzz!Last edited by moriond; 05-06-2006, 07:28 PM. Reason: Quote doesn't appear to embed correctly -- remove it

The option for a left-shoulder Buzz is right there on the product/order page (or at least it is there now, and when I ordered mine last month or so).
Funny how I wear my backpacks on the right shoulder (with the other strap dangling free - well, when it isn't heavy), but I wear my messenger-type bags on the left shoulder - I probably should have opted for the left-shoulder Buzz.. but after some getting used to, I'm cool with the right-shoulder Buzz.

If you make ones for left-handed folk it would be great to have that posted somewhere. I put the buzz on my birthday list last year. I just didn't think that it would be so difficult using a right handed bag but it was for me. I ended selling it on ebay.
I'm looking forward to the new small messenger which won't be sided- I hope. It lacks the water pocket of the buzz- I love having my water handy- but it looks great.

Thanks for the great ideas!
Hi there,
I really appreciate your comments. I have been encouraging Tom to make the Buzz a little deeper. I think that should be do-able without comprimising the style.
I also love your idea about having a little opening in the flap covering the iPod pocket. I don't use the Buzz, so I never realised how much that flap makes the earphone cord bend.
All of your ideas are very good. I'll make sure that Tom reads your post.Last edited by sunga; 04-03-2006, 03:53 PM.

Suggestions for the Buzz
I've been using my Buzz for a few weeks and I have some suggestions. I use this mainly for urban commuting via mass transit.
First, as others have said, make the bag just a bit bigger. More precisely, a bit deeper. It doesn't have to be much but any bit would allow for more storage. It's pretty tight right now. I realize you don't want the bag to look weird. But I think you can create a bit more space without sacrificing good looks and fit.
Second, make the inside linings a bright color (like a dayglow green or orange). This will make it much easier to find your stuff. The dark slate/black you use forces me to have to hunt for my stuff. Don't make it white as that will show dirt too easily.
Next, make a zippered little pocket on the outside back (the pocket itself is on the inside of the bag so that you only see the zipper, not the pocket, from the outside). I like to store a few things I need everyday like transit cards, etc. But I want very quick and easy access. I don't want to have to open either of the two larger pockets.
On the iPod/cellphone outer case, the flap should have a hole in it to thread your earphones through. I find that when I place my iPod in the case and close the top flap the cord to my earphones bends and over time I don't want this to get broken.
