    Snake Charmer?

Hi, new member to the forums here. I am planning on buying a Brain Bag for my new Macbook, but I was wondering--in a lot of the reviews I read, the Snake Charmer cord-organizer bag was mentioned. But now I don't see it anymore on the Tom Bihn site--was this product discontinued? And is there a substitute product that would work well for this purpose in the Brain Bag?

    Thanks in advance,

    Nicole

I asked Darcy this last week and she mentioned that the SnakeCharmer was currently being "tweaked" by Tom. If memory serves, clips are being added so that it can attach to the bag rather than fall to the bottom. I don't remember when the revised item is expected.

Thanks Shamrock! I will go ahead and order my Brain bag and wait until later to get the newly improved snake charmers :-)

Still I love my Snake Charmer... it's such a simple idea and it works so exceedingly well I've got one of the older ones obviously so if you can find it I would grab one of those right away as the 'charmer is big enough in itself that it's never any problem finding it. Even going blind into the bagpack as the mesh sides gives it a different feel than the interior of the Smart Alec as well.

Agreed Cobos. I couldn't function w/out my Snake Charmers.

Snake Charmer fans: Who in the U.S. (I apologize to our customers overseas) would like to test a prototype Snake Charmer that clips inside the Brain Bag via Annex clips? You'll test the Snake Charmer for a week or two, then return it to us (in a prepaid return bag) so we can send it to the next tester. If you're interested, sent me a private message or email. We will try to include everyone who replies, but if there is an overwhelming response, that might be impossible.
Have a question? @Darcy (to make sure I see it)

I'd be happy to test, but alas, I chose the Empire Builder rather than the Brain Bag. Does that mean, you'll send me a gratis Brain Bag? (Can't blame a guy for trying....)

All kidding aside, I'm looking forward to the revised snake charmer being available ~ any chance I can add it to my Christmas list?

That's going to have to be a no but we will have the Snake Charmer available again in about a month. It's back on the Web site and you can place a backorder for one now .

It's available in four new colors: Steel, Crimson, Deep Blue, and Wasabi.

Note that this isn't the Snake Charmer designed to clip inside the Brain Bag. That Snake Charmer is still being tested.

Although I understand the need for the redesign with the clips, I'm in agreement that losing the Snake Charmer at the bottom of my SmartAlec has never been a problem!

hey i would love to try that prototype snake charmer!!!

i just got my brain bag and i bought a snake charmer and thought it was quite odd that the snake charmer DIDN'T clip into the bag securely...

when i bought it i had the impression that the snake charmer was going to clip into the bag, not just be loose inside the bag...

i'm still kind of confused as to how the snake charmer "utiliz[ies] the space above the Brain Cell computer case in the Brain Bag backpack.". it does seem like there is any real "space" between the edge of the brain cell and where the zipper is...

unless by "space above the Brain Cell" was meant to be the empty part of the compartment where the brain cell is?

like if i laid the bag down, the snake charmer is actually lying on the top surface of the brain cell? not like the very top of the backpack itself?

can anyone clear that up for me?

I beleive what they meant was that if you have a smaller Braincell and clips it into the lower set of loops in the Brainbag you will get a space above the Braincell that is perfect for the Snake Charmer. At least that's the way it works for my friend which has a size 5 Braincell and the brainbag. He thought of it as a clever feature.
Regardless as I mentioned below my Snake Charmer is excellent when I just dump it into the Smart Alec, and for me it works perfectly.

                        Cobos is right.

Long ago, most of the Horizontal Brain Cells we sold were a thicker size that was similar to the current Size 3S. This Brain Cell clipped into the bottom part of the Brain Bag, and because of the extra space above the Brain Cell and that the Brain Cell was this enough, the Snake Charmer sat on top of it perfectly.

This still works in the Brain Bag with the Horizontal Brain Cell in sizes 3S, 4, 5, and 6, but with thinner sizes of Brain Cell such as the Size 4X, or even the 4, 5, and 6, the Snake Charmer is less likely to stay put resting on top of the Brain Cell.

Tom is working on various designs of a Snake Charmer that clips in or somehow attaches to the Brain Bag, but what we've found so far is that the current Snake Charmer still works the best.

We will keep you posted on any updates or redesigns of the Snake Charmer.

This is a bit late of a reply (haven't been back here in awhile!), but just wanted to say 1) I see the snake charmers are back and look forward to ordering one (that is, I might have to wait and order an Ego at the same time!) and 2) That dog is very cute--glad I could bring back good memories. I'd be lost without my "kids" so I know how that goes! My dog Ebby, now up in WI with her "grandparents", loves to find the stinkiest things to roll in...gotta love 'em!

The new Snake Charmers look amazing. Our Seattle factory did a great job.

We have a new thread specifically for companion animal pictures over in the Customer Pictures forum....we'd love to see Ebby and Rufus over there!
