    Eclipse?

Has the Eclipse been shelved, never to return? None of the current bags is a replacement for them. I bought an Imago thinking it would work, and it's not a replacment at all.

    They are redesigning it http://forums.tombihn.com/showthread...hlight=Eclipse

Ahhh, but it was supposed to be out *last summer* - or a year ago. I had asked about it again at the end of that thread, but received no response.

Whoops, didn't re-read the thread enough, or I wouldn't have posed the link

          Tolovana,

I've got what I think is an Eclipse that I don't use. If you are interested I can snap some photos of it and send them to you. Otherwise I may eventually get around to putting it for auction on eBay (I've got the too many bags problem).

            Alan,

Do you know which size it is, or what laptop you bought it to fit because like the brain cells, they were sized to the laptop.

              Carol,

I'll have to measure it tonight and I'll take some pictures. I bought it off of eBay so a while about because it looked interesting but I didn't end up using it. I'm not even sure if it is an Eclispse or not. It is a shoulder bag with the same basic form as a brain cell but with a permanent strap built in and I think that the top has a zipper rather than velcro to close it. There may also be a front pocket and such.

I'll PM you with my email so I can get an email address from you to send the photos to.

              Thanks, Alan

New products such as the Imago, Archetype, Aeronaut, Packing Cubes and upcoming products such as the smaller Empire Builder, Ego, redesigned Utility Tote, and the redesigned Snake Charmer have taken priority over the Eclipse.

Tom does still plan to redesign the Eclipse, but we don't know yet when it will debut.
Have a question? @Darcy (to make sure I see it)

                  Carol,

I just measured the thing that I think is an Eclipse. The interior laptop compartment is closest in size to the Size 4 Brain Cell. The bag is black with a light blue football shaped section on the front flap by the buckle. Under the front flap there is a large open pocket with room for items like the power supply. There are also compartments in the back of that pockets sized for pens, a pda, etc. Then there is a zipper pocket as well. It is hard to describe in words but easy to see in a picture. Mine doens't have a shoulder strap but it has places for one to clip on. I got this one used on eBay. It shows wear but no damage. Probably an 8 out of 10.

I definitely have an Eclipse judging by this review I just found:

Not only that mine perfectly fits my Aluminium 15" Powerbook G4 so I believe I have exactly the same one as in the review (my ignorance is based on the fact that I bought mine off of eBay with little info).

Seeing how nicely my Powerbook fits in this bag makes me appreciate this bag even more. It doesn't have the versitility that bags like the Imago, ID, & Super Ego have with the removable inserts (Brain Cells and Sleeves) but it is otherwise quite handy.

                      Carol,

I sent a PM to you but didn't hear back. As long as I had the Eclipse out of the closet I decided to got ahead and list it on eBay. I feel like it would be an abuse of the the forums to put a link here but it is easy enough to find there if you want to see pictures and such. Thanks, Alan

                        Cool. Very cool.

I've bid on it. It's an Eclipse size 4.

                        Thanks!

Sorry if I was too quick to post it to eBay. I would have prefered just accepting you best offer since you are another TB bag fan. I've got a 15" Powerbook that fits in the Eclipse perfectly but I also have an Imago, a Smart Alec, and a Brain Bag so it makes sense for me to liberate the Eclipse since I've developed a preference for backpacks (although the ID and Super Ego may cause me to re-evaluate that preference).

I also have a Tom Bihn all black vertical laptop case that I don't know the name of that might fit my Powerbook too (I used it with Dells and Thinkpads from work). It reminds me of a Large Cafe Bag but it has padding and a plastic insert like the monolith and brain bag. I'll try and measure it tonight. If anyone has a clue what TB model it is that would be appreciated. I know I bought it in late 2002 or early 2003 (my first TB buying spree).

                          All the best, Alan
