    Attention Sage Fans!

The new version of the ID is available in a limited edition color combination of Black/Sage/Deep Blue. The Smart Alec is also currently available in Sage.

There is very little Sage fabric left, and when it's gone, it's gone. I expect it will show up in maybe one more product before it's completely sold out.

Have a question? @Darcy (to make sure I see it)

I guess this means no more Sage for the Aeronaut regular or breve? That's a pity, because while the crimson color combination is more striking, I found that (especially when I had to check luggage during international travel in early August), Sage was more resiliant against showing dirt and the other byproducts of baggage handling. (Of course, once you get home you can wash off your bags in both cases.)

The "one more product" can be the Aeronaut. It will probably be the product we get the most requests to see in Sage.

Interesting observation about the Sage. Sadly, it's not a color that is available for us to order again.

What great timing! I've been thinking of getting an ID bag but wasn't in love with any of the colors. But I do love the Black/Sage/Deep Blue combination, and just ordered one.

I'd also "vote" for making a Sage Aeronaut with the remaining fabric.

We have a few Aeronaut Breve bags in Sage. Give us a call at 1-800-729-9607 or email me if you're interested in them.

Questions on details of ID bag redesign & comments on Sage

            Darcy,

Could you say a little more about the before and after differences in the ID bag redesign? I know there has been some discussion of the new strap options, including the ability to use the Absolute Strap, in this thread. However, I'm curious about the current arrangement of pockets under the front flap, since the present ID bag page doesn't have pictures showing what's below the flap. And I did see the description in the blog about the addition of a water bottle pocket and the small, lined pockets for earbuds.

For instance, it looks as though there's a different vertically zipped pocket under the left front flap that replaces the horizontally zipped pocket in the previous model. And the description seems to refer to the outer vertically zipped pocket as being ideal for tickets, while the previous model ID bags have another vertically placed pocket (actually under the right front flap, as described in Siv's post that suggested shifting it from a yet earlier design model).

I do recall reading a more recent post from someone who wanted more organization features for the outer ID bag pockets (but I can't easily find the link right now). So will there be more pics up showing under the flap soon?

The "one more product" can be the Aeronaut. It will probably be the product we get the most requests to see in Sage.

Just my opinion here, but Sage probably works best for a heavy-duty use bag like the Aeronaut, rather than say, for the LUX bag (which was also requested in another thread). This is also a bit classier than steel, but goes well with other bags that use steel (such as an ID bag). The hunter green looks like a good alternative color option for people looking for something less bright than the crimson. Both the hunter green and the crimson are "brighter" colors while the Sage is "grayer", which I think is one of the reasons that marks and dirt are less obvious on its surface. Of course, one could always just get black.

Thanks for the heads up, Darcy! I'd been debating ordering the Smart Alec in Sage, since I already have one in Black...But decided to go for it as this looks like my last chance! (Looks like the nephew's getting an almost knew Smart Alec for Christmas!)

Hopefully, you'll decide to go with the Aeronaut for the remaining Sage material, and then I can have a matching set! Please keep us informed. Thanks!!!

The new ID has a bigger, extended zipper pocket under the front flap instead of the slant pocket and smaller zipper pocket that the old ID had. We found that the larger zippered pocket was more useful than the slant pocket/small zipper pocket combo on the older version of the bag because we were able to find a wider variety of gadgets/stuff in the bigger pocket. It's one pocket instead of two, but it ends up being moe functional. The interior of that pocket is lined with 200 denier nylon Dyneema® ripstop fabric. It's an incredibly light fabric that's virtually impossible to tear. On the sides of that panel are the Ultrasuede® pockets with the YKK splash-proof zippers.

Behind these pockets you'll find an open area with more room for your stuff plus a series of organizer pockets that largely the same on the previous version of the ID bag. The major difference is that the new ID bag has a curved opening to that open pocket area that 1) looks cool and b) lessens the likelihood of your stuff falling out of the open pocket if the bag is knocked on its side. The curved opening is a little hard to describe -- pictures will be coming soon.

                  I will!

FYI: The Sage/Deep Blue ID has been incredibly popular. If anyone is debating whether or not to get one, I'd suggest making your decision soon before they sell out.

Count me as a Sage fan as well, having a Sage Aeronaut, and an order in for the new ID.

It sounds like the front pocket on the new ID will be a lot like the one on the Super Ego. It's a little easier to access the front pocket on the current ID than on the Super Ego's, mainly because it is more open on the ends. However the curved design of the SE's pocket is a little more secure.

I would also vote for a bottle holder on both sides, to give a choice as well as an extra pocket for overloads, but I understand the desire to keep things as simple as possible.

One other thing, I find the wider waist belt on the Super Ego to be more comfortable than the one on the current ID (I mentioned this on the phone the other day).

                    Thanks for the great bags!

I use the large size organizer pouch as described in this recent post with the older ID bag. This gives both a divider function (for extra organization), pouch function, and operates to keep things that are in the pockets from falling out.

That's a great use of the Large Organizer Pouch.

If we were to make a fourth size pouch, what dimensions would you think it should be?

I'm not sure how generally useful this would be, but I notice that the large organizer pouch is a bit too big to easily fit into the new Imagos. So maybe having a size intermediate between the medium (very useful size) and large organizer pouches would be an option.

Personally, I'm interested in options like the snake charmer for Bihn bags other than the Brain Bag. I've been experimenting with using the side-pocket packing cubes in the Smart Alec on top of my size 5 Brain Cell, but its a bit large (unless some of the contents can flatten).
