What happened to the synapse 25 in parapack?

I was just browsing through the offerings, seeing if anything would be available when I visit the states in a couple of months and noticed there only a codura and dyneema offering now...is parapack permanently out?

    Thanks

It's very odd that the parapck listings suddenly vanished for both the Synapse 25 and the Synpase 19. I would have guessed that they were updating the product page and somehow managed to have these entries not appear due to an editing error.

It was there last night and just checked after seeing your post and it is indeed no longer listed.

I saw the same thing today and emailed customer service earlier today.

If I had to hazard a guess I would imagine that the recent demand for the Synapse backpacks, no doubt helped along by a few very high profile reviews and awards has outstripped the projected supply of Parapack fabric, which like the Ballistic Nylon and Dyneema fabrics is made to TB specs unlike the relatively "off the shelf" or at least more readily available cordura fabric.

Total speculation, but perhaps they had a look at their stock and realized it might be better to save what remaining Parapack fabric they had to utilize in the new bags (guide's pack and founder's briefcase) that were originally intended to be made out of the Parapack and make the next batch of Synapses out of it's traditional cordura until supplies returned to normal.

Or it could be a typo...

I really hope so! I was really wanting a S25 in Black parapack/Wasabi while the zippers are still urethane side out like Darcy said they would likely still be on this batch. The combo of black parapack with the aquaseal zippers just looks so stealth and ninja-like!

Fingers crossed! Hopefully this isn't my lesson in waffling about and not ordering something I want just because it is on backorder!

Oh nos! I've been dithering for ages as to which color to buy (and saving up money) to get a Synapse 25; I had finally decided not to get dyneema after all and wham! the parapack has disappeared :-0

My bet is that it has something more to do with the recent software updates they have been instituting lately.

Also, to substantiate the above line of thought (or the typo one) all one has to do is reference the specifications towards the bottom of each product page and see that they r still making reference to the Parapack material and not the Cordura.

Now if only that roving glitch would start pumping out "Portable Culture" patches again.

Just received the following response from customer service:

As of late, we're having a bit of trouble sourcing enough Parapack to meet demand. As far as I'm aware, we're not retiring the fabric, but we won't be able to produce any more Parapack Synapse backpacks than those for which we already have backorders for the next production run.

Interesting. I actually prefer Cordura to the Parapack, but I suppose if I were ordering, and the choice were between a back-order date in April and one In May or Early June, and this was the first time ordering, I might opt for Parapack. (Of, course, I already have a Synapse 25, and opted for the 400d Dyneema, but if this were my first Synaose, and I wanted a solid color and din't have experience with the Dyneema, especially the 400d, that's the way I would go.)

Thanks, jlchau, for sharing that response from TB folks. I've been eyeing a SCB in Parapack and might just go ahead and hit the buy button before that goes away also!

Thanks Jichau for the heads up. Now I wonder if I should have just pulled the trigger and ordered it last month...

With jlchau's contribution in mind, I just ordered an olive parapak Swift.
The stockpile keeps growing...I'm in serious trouble.

Interesting! I also placed an order last night for an Olive Parapack Swift but an hour later I e-mailed customer service to switch to aubergine (which is backordered). I have a different shoulder bag that is somewhat olive in color, and I just can't make up my mind now which scheme is better for me.

@GoStanford Apart from the color scheme, you might want to consider the differences in the material, and how soft-sided you want the bag to be. In bags like the Imago and the Swift, I prefer the Ballistic Nylon (or 400d Dyneema) to provide some support when carrying contents, while with the Cafe Bags and Little Swift, I'm OK with Cordura molding more. From reading reviews on other sites like Ravelry, my impression is that the Parapack Swifts will slump more than either those made of Cordura or 400d Dyneema (and decidedly more than the Ballistic Swifts), and that the handles will be more slippery for shoulder carry (which isn't an issue for me with bags like the Swift or Little Swift). I know you found the Ballistic Co-Pilot too stiff for your liking, but the feel of the Ballistic Nylon in the Swift, without the rectangular design and seam piping imposing the structure, is different, as well as the feel softening even more with usage over time. This may not be a consideration if you're carrying the bag with organizers or contents that will keep it upright.
