    The Ado Backpack?

So... what is an old school backpack? I'm guessing this isn't going to be the smaller brain bag that some of us have been waiting for, so what's it going to be like? I'm incredibly curious
    Owner of:
Imago in Cocoa/Cocoa/Wasabi, Large Cafe Bag in Black/Wasabi, Various organizer pouches/stuff sacks/travel trays, Small Shop Bag in Steel and Iberian, Synapse in Steel/Steel, and a Medium Cafe Bag in Plum/Wasabi.

The Ado is small: it won't hold a laptop (well, actually, it *might* fit a Size 8 Soft Cell) but it will hold your cell phone, water bottle, jacket, a couple of regular-sized books, a notebook, pens, wallet, keys, etc. Think of its capacity as similar to that of the Large Cafe Bag, but maybe a little bit bigger.

It will look similar to the backpack Tom's nephew Alex is wearing here.

The Ado will be made out of 1000 denier Cordura, so these are the color possibilities: Navy, Crimson, Cocoa, Kelly, Plum, Steel, Black, Olive, Sapphire.
Have a question? @Darcy (to make sure I see it)

Current carry: testing new potential materials in the form of Original Large Shop Bags.

      Thanks for the info Darcy!

      That's a great bag!

Now you already know my favorite colors !

      Plum, Sapphire, Steel, Black.

The child's backpack seems to have a lighter flap and a contrasting trim on the zipper, am I right?

And if so, would those option be kept in the Ado or would it be just one color like the Brain Bag?

Is the Ado still up for July?

The Ado should ship by early July.

We're still deciding if the Ado should be one or two colors. Thoughts?

BTW: We're still searching for an attractive magenta. It's been difficult thus far.

Where would the 2 colors be? The flap one color and the rest of the body another another color (I don't like that much, and besides it already exist in the Smart Alec) or an outside color and a different inside color such as in The Cafe Bag, The Imago, the Ego and other briefcase style Tom Bihn bags.

I vote for different outer/inner color but... my Brain Bag is one color and I can find things just fine.

Alex (Tom's nephew) bag has contrasting color on the zipper's pocket, it is not much to my taste as it seems to advertise where to open the pocket, not something one's want on a backpack used everyday on buses, trains etc...

I saw the same thing on the picture of the prototype padded pouch and I do not like it either.

A simple black zipper with nice black contour fabric and color for the body of the pouch is better by itself or within any bag. That is what make the Zephyr and the Aeronaute in Grape and Steel so stunning. The same can be said about the Brain Bag.

My answer is simple. Put Cork on it!
If the design lends itself to two colors then by all means. If we can get a little picture or two I am sure that the question would be much easier to answer.
Are you going to get a cyan to go with that magenta? (sorry, bad print humor)

Doh! I was hoping for more closer to the Limpet style... well, I guess we'll all have to wait to see the real thing at any rate...

Regards color-ways for the Ado: still working on that. We'll, as usual, offer something conservative
The Ado is a re-release/re-tweak of an old pack we made called the Kid's Pack. We're adding more organizer pockets (inside the front pouch), another small zipper pocket (not shown on Alex's pack), and curved/padded shoulder straps.
The pack has a drawstring opening (making it "old") and it's sized specifically to fit a generic three-ring binder (making it "school"); there's a pocket in the flap and it's back/bottom are padded.
Pretty simple, not nearly as tricked out as say the Brain Bag.

I'll be attempting to add one or two more new backpacks in 2007 - stay tuned!

                      Kid Kulers

Hope it will be available is some fun kid colors/multi-tone. I think the old one was.

I'd need something purple/lavender/pink for my girls... Not sure we'd ever see a Pink Bihn Bag!

and if you like Color check this out
Do I really need four bags?

Finally- I've been waiting for a smaller backpack. Please tell me it has an outside pocket for a water bottle. That's an important feature for me on my next backpack and it's what's kept me from buying the Smart Alec.

I may be in the minority but I like the 2 colors of my Imago and wouldn't mind that on a backpack.
Has the price been decided on yet?
