Next round of ID colors

I've been fretting over my much anticipated purchase of an ID and BrainCell bag, and have yet another question about the available colors. At present, the ID is available in

• Black/Charcoal/Flame
• Black/Crimson/Smoke
• Black/Black/Smoke
• Black/Silver/Sapphire
• Black/Black/Plaid

I know that the outside is constrained to Black, and I'd like the flap inset to be Silver. That leaves only Sapphire inside per the list above. My real preference for the inside would be Flame, or maybe the Periwinkle shown in the Gadgeteer review.

I dropped by the Tom Bihn store in Seattle over the weekend to see the bags first-hand. That helped to confirm my preferences, albeit unrequited for now.

Will you make a one-off bag if I'm willing to pre-pay? If not, when can we expect the next round of colors to be announced? If they only came in black-on-black-on-black, I'd never even consider the choice, but you've opened us up to the wonderful possibilities.

I'm not sure when the next batch of IDs is going to be cut, but I think not for perhaps 4 - 6 weeks. As far as making you a custom color goes, you'd have to talk Megan & Todd into it.

Hey All!!!

I am so sorry to say that I am unable to do any special orders. But to those of you requesting a certain Black/ Silver/ Periwinkle ID, I beleive (not entirely positive) that there will be some available in the next batch of ID's. Those will probably be available in the next 2 months . We are pretty busy right now in the factory with Christmas and all, so keep checking the website for any changes!!!

I had an Eclipse before but needed a slightly bigger bag. Moving my digital life was only a matter of minutes.

I just got a ID in black/crimson/smoke and it looks awesome.

I received my Black/Silver/Periwinkle ID (and Brain Cell) early last week and finally got to start using it over the last few days. It's fantastic. The fit is excellent all around. The zippers are all top quality. It's comfortable to carry around. On top of that, it looks great.

wait a minute... how did seh get a black/silver/periwinkle bag in early december? i inquired about those colors in early december and was told no, so i had to settle with black/silver/sapphire

Hi Jen,

It depends on whether the fabric has already been cut or not. Megan, our seamstress, saw the color requests in the forum and since the fabric hadn't been cut for the ID's, she decided to be really nice and make special colors for seh and another customer. Had we known at that same time that you also wanted Black/Silver/Periwinkle, we definitely would have made one for you, too. I'm sorry it didn't happen that way!

Jen - I'm sorry! It looks like we actually have a small quantity of the Black/Silver/Periwinkle color. Maybe about three of them. You can order them off the ID page.

Charcoal/Titanium/Sapphire? I just think a gray would look professional while making it easier to pick out from conference room and overhead compartment bag herds.

Maybe we'll make a couple like that in the next batch of ID's we make (about three months from now.)

Titanium is only used for the Mitre but Charocal/Sapphire or Charcoal/Crimson sound good.

While I'm dreaming aloud, then, I think my perfect ID would be charcoal (or titanium) with a primary yellow accent and interior. Please?

Oh, and I love the idea in the Eclipse thread of a back strap for use with rolling luggage. I'm guessing the ID won't be seeing any modifications for a while, though.

We've always wanted to add yellow to our color pallete, but the problem has been this: the nylon fabric we use is translucent when it is un-dyed and pretty much translucent when dyed a very light color like yellow or silver (yellow actually worse than silver), to the point that you can read a newspaper through the fabric!
This is bad because people can see what's in your bag AND you can see the seam allowances too, which just looks like crap frankly.
That all being said, we are just now bringing in fabric from a new supplier (from Korea) and are hoping that at some point they can work with us to produce our fabric with a pigmented coating, which is the only way to make light colors opaque in this fabric.
Some other manufacturers use polyester instead of nylon, which tends to be opaque on its own; we use nylon because a nylon backpack or bag will substantially outlast a polyester one.

Regarding a strap/loop for a roll-aboard: we haven't found an elegant way to incorporate that into our designs - they all look like after-thoughts so far, but we'll keep working!
