Tom Bihn Ultimate Travel Vanity Case

I have the design in my head and would love to start a thread to combine my thoughts on this with those of other members. Anyone already thrown in the idea of Tom Bihn Travel Vanity Case? Few out there are perfect and so far I've been using two from the 1970's that have a couple features that I like. They are falling apart though. Still, I know how the Ultimate one should work. Your thoughts?

A suggestion to help ya design it...easily...try out SketchUp from Google. I have taking to use it over even a simply CAD program for my home remodel projects. I can knock out a mock-up in almost no time plus it's 3D and even better...it's FREE...

Anyway, that might give a way to put across your idea when the words are not there or the idea is just within reach but not anything you can verbalize?

Personally I would love a good useful vanity/toiletry case. I ones I have tried over the years are not any better then a ziploc bag. Keep my junk organized inside is always a big issue as is the ability to clean it should something spill inside or a bottle of pills falls open and then the pills get all ground up in the bottom. Worse is when that bar of "travel soap" you steal from the hotel, gets crushed at the bottom of the bag and seems to embed, well, bond permanently with the material the case is made from.

Thanks for the SketchUp tip. I actually hire a very good 3D artist to do my renderings. I'm expert in Freehand so I usually start there ...after drawing on paper.
I'd really like to hammer out requirements with forum members.
What FEATURES or BEHAVIORAL characteristics do you need in a toiletry bag?

My take would be that the new Convertible Packing Cube is a perfect loose objects Travel Vanity Case. One of the best feature is that it has the D ring for a shoulder strap, always handy in small hotels or campgrounds bathrooms.

I can see myself using it as it is, packing my stuff inside ziploc bags.

But... Tom could improve it by offering inserts looking like organizer pouches and that could be secured inside the bag with D rings or some sort of clips.

Those pouches would be perfect to separate dry makeup from liquid makeup and shampoo. It would be good to make them of Dynema since the fabric looks like it is really easy to clean.

d'oh!! some days I am too danged literial!! plus I am the graphically challenged sort...I can use a urler, protractor and seven draftsmen and STILL have parallel lines that intersect! d'oh...d'oh!!

My current dopp kit is an old, simple Eddie Bauer. One full length zipper, a small grab loop at one end, and a small side pocket for thin items like bandaids.

Served me very well. But I might soon be switching to Tom Bihn's new quarter packing cube (see other thread).

Well, I'd say if you're going to consider it for air travel use at all, it needs to be able to either meet airline restrictions (clear, one quart size) or have some type of zipoff or removable pouch that does. Does the current quarter size packing cube meet restrictions? I didn't know if the bag has to be clear on both sides or just one. That would be one consideration. Also, something that's moisture resistant and/or easy to clean.

how about something like a pouch only like 1 inch deep, clear on both sides with a clip on it. For me, that's enough for toiletries. If not, use two. Or a packing cube. I currently use the eagle creek pouches for this, plus a ziplock bag for the liquids.

Oh, how about d rings on both sides of the bottom, and clips on both sides of the top so they could be clipped together. The top one could be hung with some kind of lanyard or strap attached to the clips.
