    Women's smooshable travel shoes

I know there have been a couple of men's threads.... but the other day I was raiding my closet and pulled out a pair of Arcopedico shoes that are really quite perfect for travel. I've been wearing them for the last couple of days and have fallen in love with them all over again. I like them because the do pack small but have a good sole and support.

Minimal sandals just don't work for me and I don't like wearing sandals in cities.

The Arcopedicos come in lots of colors.

What else are women wearing for easily packable space saving shoes?

Whoa, I had never heard of those before. Thanks for the recommendation, @tebnewyork! And I see they even come in 42/43 (size 11 or 12) which is still so rare (at least here in the USA). I don't have any suggestions to add to your great list idea; I'm just happy to investigate these shoes further on Zappos. Thanks!

My most used shoes from my last trip are the Pons Avarcas sandals. I like that they are mostly closed toed (peep toe), they stay on your feet because of the heel strap, they can slip on easily, they have a grippy rubber sole, and they look good with pants, shorts, leggings or skirts. Kind of a "euro" vibe to them so you don't look like a tourist (they are made in Spain). They pack mostly flat, are real leather, and come in every color. I got gold.

Ooooh, @Amy, those Pons Avarcas are cuuuuuuuuute and I would totally wear those. I've never worn a peep-toe before, but in gold, those look fabulous and not too hard to pull off. Unfortch, again, they only come in sizes up to 41. What's a Lady Bigfoot to do?

I already like this thread though.

          Amy,
I also have sandals from Spain that are just like those. Mine are black and they are out to wear with my outfit for dinner tonight!

The men's are identical and go up to size 46. No gold tho.

Well, sandals are not my usual go-to travel shoe, but the Pons Avarcas are tempting!

My travel shoes of choice recently are my Cmuk sneakers. I have 2 pairs because I love them so much. They pack flat, and even come with reusable plastic packing bags.

What is the yarn material for the top? It is machine washable, so it must be some kind of acrylic. Is it soft to the feet?

Not sure what the material is but they are lined so soft on the feet.

Thank you, they look very nice and vegan is certainly wonderful.

How do they feel on the feet? Is the top tight? Is the foot width narrow?

The more info you can share, the better.

Not the top is pretty stretchy. Not tight or rigid at all. All the support for the shoes comes from the soles and lace up. If anything I would say they run wide and not narrow. If you look at the laces above showing how close the two sides are, that's how mine are and I certainly don't havre narrow feet. If you are thinking about them and are really unsure I would say order through Zappos where returns are so simple if they don't fit.

I don't want to come off like a salesperson for the shoes. My original post was to also see what others are using.

A few months ago I bought a pair of similar knit-top Arcopedicos in a ballet-flat style with warm-weather travel in mind, to wear without socks. I love their relatively light weight and good smooshability, they are pretty comfy (I need some sole cushioning & arch/heel cup support), and they can double as in-accommodation 'slippers' reasonably well because they are slip-on. However, they are also slightly too 'slip-off,' and my heel tends to come out of them occasionally. A couple of days ago it occurred to me that adding a strap or tie across the instep might address this problem. I'm still thinking about what material to use ... aiming for funky instead of nerdy.

Also, for cool-weather wear, I very recently tried on a pair of Arcopedico ankle boots made of a slightly stretchy fabric. They also were very smooshable and light weight, and the saleswoman said they would be water-resistant in a light rain. In the end I decided against them because the fit was slightly awkward on me.

I hope it is ok with other Bihntusiasts if I ask another couple of questions, is the little loop at the back of the shoe, solid or can something like a ribbon can be threaded into it?

Are the shoes suitable for rainy weather?

Thanks in advance and sorry for asking so many questions.

I use Easy Spirit e360 Quick Tone, but I think they stopped making them. The link is Amazon and there's only one pair left! However, I ordered a pair of these Iquaneyes shoes. Unfortunately, they will not be here before my next trip.

Instead of athletic shoes or flip flops, I pack a pair of Luna Mono sandals. I can walk all day in these and they make good workout shoes.
