Keys, wallet, phone all go where?

Where does everyone keep their keys, wallet, and cell phone? I'm curious for both everyday and for travel.

Maybe this only applies to the men but as much as love getting a new gear bag to carry stuff I can't seem to shake the feeling that I HAVE to carry certain items on me. On vacation, I don't think I fear them being stolen as much as I fear losing the bag and then losing the keys and wallet as a result. On a day to day basis, I'm not worried about it getting stolen but I keep thinking I'll leave the bag behind and then walk up to a register and realize my wallet is in the bag.

at work, my wallet and my iphone always stay on my person when i'm at work. my wallet holds my badge which gets me through doors. and i need to always be reachable so i also keep my iphone with me.

out of the office, my wallet is also in my pocket. my iphone moves to my jacket pocket if i'm wearing a jacket. otherwise, it's in the pocket of my pants.

the keys are a different story. i have a big bunch of keys that are not fun to carry. they are in my jacket pocket as i walk from my car into the office. they go into the keyhole in my door when i get to work and stay there until i'm ready to leave.

outside of the office, they go into my jacket pocket if i'm wearing a jacket. otherwise, they go in a bag if i'm carrying a bag. they are in my hands or in my pants pocket if i'm out and about. otherwise, when i walk into someone's home or into my home, i put them down. if i'm at a restaurant, they are on the table.

i'd love to see someone design a single key solution. we have this concept for computers. why not have a single key for all physical access - my house, my car, my office, everything.

the single electronic key solution is possible for work and home. many of us use electronic keys at work. we could also install a card reader system for our home locks. unfortunately, this is still cost prohibitive for most of us.

similarly, we could have a single metal key for work, home and car. the problem arises in that you may have multiple people (co-workders) who need access to your office, but not to your home and car. likewise, you may have multiple people (members of your household) who need access to your home and car, but not your office.

so a single electronic key solution is what is needed, in a cost effective manner, across the board. for cars, for homes, for work, and whatever else you can think of.

For me, keys, wallet and phone go in my pockets for everyday use. For days I'm traveling, I clip my keys into the EB or Aeronaut key strap. My phone goes with my other electronics into my TB Organizer Pouch, at least until I'm through airport security. I try to eliminate everything in my pockets before security, except for my wallet.

On another note, my wallet became much more manageable once I went to a superthin wallet made of ripstop nylon. It's much better knowing I don't have the Costanza wallet!

I have a wallet from All-Ett as well and I'm quite happy with it.
